Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

A thrilling modern classic, combining Audi’s legendary V8 performance with quattro all-wheel drive, understated styling, and everyday usability.

The Audi RS4 B7 arrived in 2006 as the successor to the highly regarded B5 RS4, bringing naturally aspirated V8 power and quattro all-wheel drive together in a compact executive saloon. Developed by Audi’s performance division, the RS4 combined everyday practicality with genuine sports car performance, creating a formula that remains hugely appealing to enthusiasts today.

At the heart of the RS4 is Audi’s 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, producing ~420PS and revving to an impressive ~8,250rpm. Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive, it delivers a distinctive combination of high-revving performance, traction and usability. The B7 generation is particularly celebrated for its naturally aspirated V8 character and is increasingly regarded as a modern classic.

The saloon body gives the RS4 a discreet appearance while retaining four-door practicality, making it equally suited to enthusiastic weekend driving and longer-distance touring. With its wide stance, subtle RS styling, and muscular proportions, the B7 RS4 remains one of the most desirable performance saloons of its era.

This example is finished in black with a black leather interior, and has recently benefited from a significant amount of maintenance and improvement under Simon’s ~3-month ownership, including all eight injectors, a replacement clutch, a full service, refurbished alloy wheels, freshly painted black brake callipers and a custom stainless steel exhaust system.

This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Simon the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

This is a recently acquired RS4, but one in which Simon has invested heavily - both on mechanical maintenance and on presentation.

Simon purchased this B7 RS4 around 3 months ago and has since set about bringing the car up to the standard he wanted. During his ownership, considerable expenditure has gone into the car, including the replacement of all eight injectors and the clutch, and a full service.

Simon has also tightened on the car’s presentation, having all four alloy wheels refurbished and the brake callipers painted black. The car was also fitted with a custom stainless steel exhaust system last year, from the downpipes back, adding to the character of Audi’s naturally aspirated V8.

Having recently completed this work and enjoyed the car over the summer, Simon is now looking to free up some space for new performance cars and has decided to bring the RS4 to auction with us. He will be on hand in the comments below to answer any questions you may have about the car.

Exterior

A muscular yet understated saloon, combining subtle RS styling with purposeful proportions and classic Audi design.

Wheels and Tyres

This example is fitted with the desirable RS4 19-inch alloy wheels, which present in great condition having all been recently refurbished.

The wheels are fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tyres on the front and rear, dated 2021/2023/2025. They appear to be in great visual condition, with a good amount of remaining tread and no visible cracking on the outside sidewalls.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork appears to be in great overall condition, with panel gaps aligning visually well around the car.

There are, however, some minor age-related marks and very light blemishes to note. These include a scuff to the driver’s door sill and a few marks along the driver’s door edge.

We’ve provided more detailed observations through our high-resolution images and videos. Please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in a lovely Black, the paintwork presents in great overall condition with even colour and coverage across all panels.

We think the car would benefit from a deep detail and polish, with some very light scratches visible. There is also a small area of paint flaking, while the nearside rear window trim has some additional paint flaking.

Once again, we've captured high-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the paintwork for yourselves.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good condition for the car’s age, and during our visit we didn’t notice any obvious cracks or discolouration.

The window seals appear to be in good condition and are consistent with the overall condition of the car.

The door handles and window surrounds also present well, while the aluminium trim around the bottom of the windows shows some signs of oxidation.

image

Interior

A driver-focused cabin blending premium materials, supportive sports seats, and the understated character of Audi’s RS range.

Seats and Carpets

The black leather seats, complete with embossed RS4 logos, have retained their shape well over the years, with only very light creasing.

The door cards and carpets present in a similar manner, showing a consistent level of condition throughout the interior.

For a detailed view of the cabin, please take a look at the extensive media.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard in this RS4 showed no major damage or scuffs.

The odometer displayed 85,733 miles on the digital screen at the time of consignment.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The three spoke 'RS4' badged Black leather steering wheel is in great condition.

The gear selector also looked in good shape, with both being consistent with the condition of the car.

For a closer look, check out the image gallery to see the detail.

Mechanics

Powered by Audi’s legendary high-revving V8, delivering exhilarating performance through a six-speed manual gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive.

Engine and Gearbox

The B7 RS4 is powered by Audi’s naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8, producing ~420PS and revving to an impressive ~8,250rpm. This high-revving unit is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and quattro all-wheel drive, giving the RS4 its distinctive combination of performance, traction, and driver engagement.

During Simon’s ownership, all eight fuel injectors have been replaced at a cost of £2,793, alongside a full service and replacement clutch. The car is also fitted with a custom stainless steel exhaust system from the downpipes back, giving the V8 a more purposeful exhaust note.

Simon reports that the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its six-speed manual gearbox sending the power to all four wheels. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around, and for a closer look underneath it.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The B7 RS4 is equipped with Audi’s DRC sports suspension, designed to provide a balance between controlled body movement and everyday road usability. The system works alongside the quattro drivetrain and RS-tuned chassis to give the car its distinctive combination of stability and agility.

The car’s brake callipers have been painted black during Simon’s ownership, complementing the refurbished 19-inch alloy wheels and giving the car a more cohesive appearance.

On the drive out, the RS4 felt composed and capable, with the suspension providing good control through the corners and the quattro system giving plenty of confidence when putting the power down. We heard no obvious knocks, bangs, or squeaks from the suspension during our visit.

We cover the underside of the RS4 exterior in our “Mechanical” gallery section. Head over to our video section, where we’ve summarised our visit in more detail for you to view for yourself.

image

The Drive

The RS4’s naturally aspirated V8, manual gearbox, and quattro all-wheel-drive system combine to create an engaging performance car that remains highly usable on the road. The high-revving engine delivers its character progressively, while the compact saloon body and RS-tuned chassis make the car feel purposeful and composed when driven enthusiastically.

Simon has enjoyed the car over the summer, appreciating the combination of V8 character, four-door practicality, and quattro traction that makes the B7 RS4 such an appealing modern classic.

Please have a look at the ‘On The Road’ video where Simon takes us for a short drive.

Electrics and Other

Simon reports that everything is functional and operational, aligning with the overall condition of the car. The car is also fitted with an uprated Kenwood multimedia screen with Apple CarPlay.

There was quite a few items noted on the paperwork when the clutch was done, have these been addressed? Especially the suspension lines and os front shock .
There is mention of flaking paint, to what extent is this also the damage on the drivers door trim? Finally do you have the original head unit to put back to stock?

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
