Introduction

Colin Bashford
Professional Consigner

Sleek lines, carbon side blades and a 5.2-litre V10 give the R8 an aggressive look and sound, especially in the lovely ‘Sepang Blue’ paint.

There are few cars that arrived on the scene with quite the same sense of theatre as the Audi R8. First revealed to the public at the Paris Motor Show, it marked a bold new chapter for Audi, a company better known at the time for understated executive saloons than mid-engined supercars. Yet here was something altogether different: low, wide, and unmistakably purposeful, with design cues drawn directly from the brand’s Audi Sport Team Joest Le Mans prototypes. It didn’t just look the part; it had the engineering pedigree to back it up.

From launch, the R8 was offered with a range of powertrains and configurations that broadened its appeal beyond the traditional supercar crowd. The early cars featured a high-revving V8, paired with either a gated manual or Audi’s R tronic transmission, before the line-up expanded to include the more potent V10 models. Buyers could choose between coupé and Spyder variants, rear-wheel drive or the marque’s famed quattro system, creating a car that could be tailored as much to spirited road driving as it could to everyday usability.

But it is the first-generation V10 that many enthusiasts gravitate towards, arguably the sweet spot of the range. Sharing its sonorous 5.2-litre engine architecture with the Lamborghini Gallardo, the R8 V10 delivered a heady mix of performance and character, with a soaring exhaust note that transformed every drive into an occasion. In ‘Sepang Blue’, as we have here, the car takes on an even more distinctive presence. The vivid metallic finish accentuates the R8’s sculpted side blades and sharp, flowing lines, giving it a sense of movement even when standing still. It’s a combination that perfectly encapsulates what made the R8 such a landmark model: supercar performance, everyday usability, and a design that still feels strikingly modern today.

This R8 V10 with R tronic transmission comes to market after almost four years with our vendor. It has covered approximately 18,262 miles and is supplied with two sets of keys, its original service book, and a current MOT valid until 17 December 2026.

This listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting John the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Having owned a few supercars, the naturally aspirated V10 really gives you goosebumps.

John is no stranger to a supercar, having owned several over the years, from Aston Martins to McLarens. The R8 was an itch he wanted to scratch, and having bought the car in 2022, he specifically sought out a low-mileage example that had been well maintained.

Having covered approximately 2,000 enjoyable miles during his ownership, John has decided to pass the car on for someone else to enjoy - he is now looking to step into its bigger brother, the Lamborghini Huracán.

John will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

The ‘Sepang Blue’ paintwork beautifully accentuates the R8 V10’s sculpted curves.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the original R8 V10 wheels, all appear to be in good condition, with only some light age-related wear visible. John believes they retain their original finish and have never been refurbished.

The wheels are wrapped in a matching set of Pirelli P Zero tyres, with a specification of 235/35 R19 at the front (dated 2023) and 295/30 R19 at the rear (dated 2021). All four tyres appear to have good tread remaining, with no damage noted to the outside sidewalls.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

Bodywork

The curves of the R8 present very well, with no dents or major scratches noted, aside from the lower passenger side of the front bumper, where it appears the car may have caught a speed bump - usual for these cars.

The shut lines appear visually even, and both doors, bonnet, and engine cover open and close as expected.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The ‘Sepang Blue’ paintwork presents in great condition. John had just polished it prior to our visit, and we did not notice any major marks. There are only a few stone chips to the bonnet, along with a small touched-in area just above the passenger-side wheel arch.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass throughout the R8 appears to be in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks noted to the windscreen.

All trim appears to be present and in good condition, including the badging.

Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

Interior

A very sporty cabin greets you, featuring a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a chrome auto gear selector.

Seats and Carpets

Fitted with electrically adjustable leather sports seats, they appear in good condition, with some creasing on the bolsters consistent with the car’s age.

The carpets are clean and tidy, with only a slight stain visible on the passenger-side overmat.

Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

Dashboard

The dashboard features silver bezels housing black dials with a red halo around them.

The right-hand dial appears to have some overspray from a cleaning product that was not fully wiped off. The remainder of the dashboard is clean and tidy, with no signs of cracking or other damage.

The original Audi entertainment system is present, with a CD multi-changer fitted between the two rear seats.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original flat-bottomed steering wheel appears in good condition, showing only slight age-related wear.

The chrome gear selector also appears in good condition, with minor scratches at the top, as might be expected for a car of this age. The car is fitted with paddle extenders to make gear changes easier.

Interior trim is a combination of carbon fibre and aluminium.

Mechanics

A V10, shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo, gives the R8 the performance and soundtrack it has always deserved.

Engine and Gearbox

With approximately 525PS on tap, the R8 isn’t shy. It started with a bark at the first turn of the key and settled to an even idle. We did not notice any unwanted noises from the engine at start-up or during our drive with John, just the glorious howl of the V10 behind us.

The R tronic automatic gearbox performed well throughout our time with the R8. John demonstrated it in both automatic and manual modes, and both performed as expected.

Please take a look at the cold start video below to see for yourself the performance of the engine and gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes

For a supercar, the suspension felt composed over the slightly potholed roads, and even speed bumps were handled easily when taken at low speeds. We did not notice any unwanted noises from the suspension during our visit.

The brakes performed well, as you would expect from a supercar. Of course while we did not test them heavily, but in normal driving they brought the car to a stop in a straight line with no squeaking or unusual noises.

Please take a look at the on the road video below to see how the suspension and brakes performed.

The Drive

On our short drive with John, we experienced a variety of roads, from urban streets to a dual carriageway where he could stretch the R8’s legs. The car handled all scenarios effortlessly, driving through town in automatic mode like a normal car for a relaxed experience. Once on the dual carriageway, the acceleration and V10 soundtrack really shone through.

The R8 is an animal when it wants to be, yet it handles motorway speeds with ease, a truly impressive all-rounder.

To see the R8 in motion please take a look at the on the road video below.

Electrics and Other

The R8 appears to retain all its original factory fittings, including the standard entertainment system with CD multi-changer and Bang & Olufsen sound system.

While we did not test all the electrics, John confirmed that everything is in working order.

All buttons appear clean and fully operational as well.

History and Paperwork

Coming with its original service book, complete with eight main dealer service stamps, this R8 V10 has enjoyed a pampered life over its approximately 18,262 miles.

It's clear to see this R8 has been well cared for, with service intervals generally maintained every two years, aside from a three-year gap between 2022 and 2025. All work was carried out by Audi main dealers, apart from a spark plug and pollen filter change in November 2025.

It is offered with two sets of keys, its original service book, and a current MOT valid until 17 December 2026.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

*** RESERVE LOWERED ***

John has lowered the reserve so the highest bidder will be more likely to win the R8 on Thursday, good luck!

Thanks,
Colin.

On the 2022 Audi Service Invoice it mentions the NSF Shock absorber has started to sweat. Do you know if this was rectified at the time? If not is there any fluid or leaks showing on any of the shock absorbers now? Thanks. Andy

Hi John, apologies showing 6 former owners plus you, so with 7 in total if 2 directors have exchanged twice , that accounts for 4, so you’d be 5th owner from my calculations?

Hi John

A few questions please

When were the sparkplugs and injectors last replaced as age related?

When has the gearbox last been serviced?

Do you know what the clutch wear is currently reading at?

Any issues with carbon build up or oil consumption?

Any information about the previous owners considering there are 6 owners with such low miles?
