Created by Audi to celebrate their 10th win at the world famous 24 Heures du Mans; a collector quality low mileage example.

Originally launched in 2006, the first generation R8 is powered by the same 4.2L V8 as found in the B7 RS4, producing ~424BHP. It is mated to a 6-speed gated manual gearbox and drives all four wheels with Audi's legendary Quattro system. The R8 design was well received, it even made a cameo in the Iron Man films soon after launch.

This particular car is one of only 100 made to celebrate the 10th victory for Audi at the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 2011. The Le Mans Edition received a raft of extras including red brake callipers, illuminated door sills, red accents and stitching on the Nappa leather and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. This car also features the "Carbon Package", with carbon the mirrors, side blades and engine bay. This car comes to market after ~4 years and 8 months ownership, with only 3 former keepers, and most importantly just over ~10,000 miles on the clock. It has a solid history service to accompany the mileage, these collector quality car is worth a very hard look if you're a collector.

I love to take the R8 out on country roads, it handles the corners so well, the Quattro system gives you confidence.

Venkat took a long time to decide on buying a supercar, his options were an E-Gear Lamborghini Gallardo and this gated manual R8 Le Mans edition. He didn't like the E-Gear gearbox in the Lamborghini but really enjoyed the connection to the R8 that the manual gearbox offered. The R8 gave Venkat the proper supercar experience he wanted. He's owned this car for nearly well over 4.5 years, and kept up the solid servicing history the car came with, even with just the modest miles covered.

He loves the way the R8 looks with the large helpings of carbon on show, the drive was the real selling point for Venkat though, he enjoys stretching its legs on a blast in the countryside. Venkat has had a fun time with the car and has decided to let someone else experience the joy he has from this limited edition R8. He will be happy to answer any questions in the comments bellow.

Exterior

With carbon fibre side blades and trim, 19" wheels from the R8 GT, and red brake callipers, this isn't your standard R8.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with 19" Titanium finish GT wheels, the same design as the R8 GT, they all looked in great condition. We didn't notice any scrapes or other damage on any of the wheels.

A full matching set of Continental Contisport Contact 5s was found on the car, all tyres looked in good shape with plenty of life left in them. Please have a look at the photos and video below to asses the condition of the wheels and tyres for yourself.

Bodywork

The bodywork around the R8 looked great, with panel gaps tight. We didn't notice any dents or other damage to the bodywork around the car. All panels lined up well too as you would expect given the low mileage the car has covered.

Paint

The beautiful "Ibis White" paint looked to be in very good condition, bright and with a deep lustre to it. Being really picky we did notice a small amount of swirl marks on the bonnet of the car, nothing major though.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass looked to be in great shape, we didn't notice any chips or cracks in any of the glass around the car.

With this being the limited edition "Le Mans Edition", the car comes with carbon fibre trim most notably the iconic side blades and wing mirrors. All grilles and plastic trim was in place and looked in good shape too.

Interior

A mixture of black and red leather with some sporting touches in the for of carbon too, this interior really looks the part.

Seats and Carpets

The seats are covered in Audi "Exclusive Nappa" black leather with red detailing. The leather looked in fantastic condition, we couldn't see much wear if any at all.

The carpets also looked in great condition, we didn't notice much wear at all, which you would expect from such a low mileage car. Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

Dashboard

The R8 has a very plush dashboard, covered in leather with red stitching, clocks that go all the way to 220MPH, and the "Le Mans Edition" comes with carbon surround for the instrument housing and centre console. The radio and air con controls are all angled toward the driver, and another feature of the limited edition is illuminated sill plates.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The red stitching continues onto the leather steering wheel, it looked in great condition with only very slight signs of wear witnessed.

The brushed aluminium gearstick and gate looked in great condition and the sound of the shift was very satisfying. Please take a look at the photos and video below to check the condition of the steering wheel and gear stick for yourself.

Mechanics

At its heart the R8 has a 4.2L V8 and combined with the gated-manual gearbox; you're an integral part of the driving experience with this car.

Engine and Gearbox

The 4.2L V8 sprung into life without issue on first attempt. Out on the road with Venkat the engine felt very punchy, throttle response was very quick. There were no unusual noises coming from the engine whilst we were on the drive.

A gated-manual is always special, the clicking of each gear change brings a smile to your face. The gears were going in without issue too, we didn't notice any strange noises coming from the gearbox on the short run we took. Please take a look at the cold start video below to see for yourself the performance of the engine and gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes

The Le Mans Edition comes as standard with Audi's Magnetic Ride suspension, keeping the ride comfortable whilst being sharp when the roads get twisty. On our short drive the suspension did feel firm, but it also took bumps in its stride.

The brakes felt sharp, we didn't test them to their full capacity though. Please take a look at the on the road video below to see how the suspension and brakes performed.

The Drive

As mentioned above the R8 felt great on the road, plenty of power to play with a great feeling of involvement from the manual gearbox.

A firm but comfortable ride through its trick suspension, there's plenty of stopping power too. Overall a very fun driving experience for someone looking for a sports car.

Electrics and Other

We didn't check every electrical component but the radio, window and light were all working. Venkat assured us everything else was working as expected. As standard with this limited edition, the car comes with Bang and Olufsen premium sound system, and interior lights package which includes illuminated sill plates and LED engine bay lighting.

History and Paperwork

With just over ~10,000 miles, a solid service history, and in excellent condition, this limited edition R8 Le Mans Edition definitely has to be considered a collectors piece.

With an excellent service history from main Audi dealers in its lifetime, this R8 has only been serviced once outside of an Audi main dealer, and only due to lack of availability at the time. It is clearly a very well maintained car, even with the low miles covered, and has the history to back it up. The car has been serviced at the Audi main dealer in Edinburgh in September 2022, and covered minimal miles since.

1 of 100 LE cars to be sold in the UK, this car was optioned from new with the "Carbon Package", an option for the "Le Mans Edition" that came in at an additional £3,500 and includes most notably the iconic carbon fibre side blades.

Please note, the private registration is not included in the sale, the car will return to an appropriate age related number.
