Meet the owner

After being an Aston Martin fan all my life, I decided to take a different avenue and try R8 V10 ownership, and wow these cars go!

Paul is definitely a petrolhead/car enthusiast, particularly of Aston Martins in the past. However after selling a couple from his collection, he decided to give R8 ownership a spin. He purchased the car at the start of December and has enjoyed ~half a year of thrills, however, with an E-Type making its way to him, the R8 is making way.

Exterior

An exotic car with a striking profile and aggressive stance, this R8 is always the centre of attention.

Wheels and Tyres

The R8 V10 gets upgraded 19" alloys that are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres at the front and Dunlop Sp Sport Maxx GT at the rear.

The alloys have been recently refurbished and look in great shape all around, the front nearside tyre is showing some signs of wear. Take a closer view of the wheels and tyres in the images below.

Bodywork

As you would expect from a modern supercar and Audi's flagship, the bodywork is in great shape, aerodynamic, and visually pleasing lines. Importantly all panel gaps look correct and tight with no signs of obvious damage.

The R8 V10 has subtle enhancements from the V8, including wider sills and enlarged intakes. The only blemish we could find on the car was a very small dent and scuff under the bumper on the front lip, and what looks to be a blemish that's developed from a stone chip to the middle of the leading edge on the bonnet.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in "Mythos Black" the paint appears in very good condition across the car, with the finish even in colour and coverage across all the panels, in line with the age and mileage of the car.

If we were being really picky, the finish of the paint could really benefit from a professional 3 stage polish to bring the car back to its original supercar glory. Again, the images are taken from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

All in great condition in line with the rest of the car, during our visit we saw no signs of damage or degradation.

The headlights appear free from any signs of fogging and discolouration.

Interior

A very functional, yet sporting and extravagant cockpit for Audi puts the driver in full control supercar.

Seats and Carpets

Both seats look in great condition on this example, finished in high quality full black leather, the sports seats hug you tight. The seats are heated, and the headlining, door cards, and carpets match the mileage and age of this relatively young car.

Sometimes the bolsters on R8's can really suffer over time, the ones on this example look good and in line with the mileage. Take a look at the detailed photos and videos for an extensive tour.

Dashboard

As with all Audis, the instrument panel is crisp and clearly legible. The dials on the R8 really add to the sporty feeling on this car.

This model was fitted with the Audi Navigation plus entertainment system. All buttons are clean and functioning as expected, Paul reports.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a flat bottomed steering wheel befitting to the car's sporty nature. You'll also notice the aluminium automatic shifter, badged R8, with a very large 'SPORT' button placed underneath.

Both the steering wheel and gearstick are in good condition and look to be in line with the mileage and age of the car.

Mechanics

Sharing its engine pedigree with the Lamborghini Gallardo, the V10 has an intoxicating sound, even more so in the Spyder.

Engine and Gearbox

The uprated 5.2L V10 was the highlight of this car on release, and still to this day offers eye-wateringly quick performance. The V10 shares its engine pedigree with the Lamborghini Gallardo, meaning it'll hit 60MPH in just 3.9 seconds.

It's mated to the automatic gearbox, allowing it to shift through the gears and up the range effortlessly. Watch our "Cold Start" video above to see the car starting with no issues.

Suspension and Brakes

This car is constantly appraised for its handling and control on the road/track.

In 2019, the near side front suspension strut was replaced, and the rear shock absorbers have been replaced after being flagged as an advisory last year. Paul assures us that the car handles as you'd expect for a supercar of this calibre, and stops just as it should do too.

The Drive

The car was designed to be driven fast, very fast. While the car is a high-performance supercar it's praised for being extremely reliable and practical without compromise.

Electrics and Other

As you would expect for Audi's flagship, the car is not short on electrical features, this is the first production car to have full LED headlights, also Audi's Navigation Plus entertainment system.

All lights, buttons and modes are working correctly on the car with no issues reported.

History and Paperwork

The supercar with all the right ingredients, low mileage, sensational styling and attractive triple black colourway, this V10 R8 Spyder makes for an exciting package.

Coming to market from short term ownership, the car was last serviced in April 2021, and comes with history from the previous ownership. Paul has recently had the wheels refurbished, and the rear shocks were changed after being flagged as an advisory on a previous MOT, he will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the car in the comments below.
