The Audi RS4 continues a high-performance estate tradition that began with the 1994 RS2, a concept so successful it became a permanent fixture in the lineup. Engineered to challenge rivals like Porsche and the BMW M3, each generation is defined by precision and quality. After a brief absence, the third-generation B8 RS4 took over, characterised by its purposeful stance and blistering performance.

Retaining the acclaimed 4.2-litre V8 from its predecessor, the B8 RS4 saw output boosted to ~444 bhp. It introduced a deeper reliance on driver control, allowing for custom calibration of the gearbox, steering, dampers, exhaust, and throttle mapping. Coupled with a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system, this high-revving V8 delivers a fantastic, theatrical soundtrack, blending it with vault-tight quality, comfort, and excellent everyday practicality.

This well-kept example comes fresh to market and is finished in black with a matching full black leather interior. It boasts a comprehensive history with nine service records and has had only two previous keepers. Meet the owner

Driving the RS4 is a pleasure; it's a car that is both rapid and practical.

The sale is being handled by James, a specialist car dealer who has direct and recent knowledge of the car, on behalf of the owner, having serviced the vehicle on two occasions since 2024.

The owner told James:

"After being sold new, the car was subsequently taken on by Fontain Motors and re-sold in 2017. During my 21-month ownership, covering around 13,000 miles, the RS4 has been completely faultless. No engine lights, no mechanical issues, and no niggles whatsoever. It’s been an absolute pleasure to drive: tight, smooth and responsive in every way. Highlights include a 3-week road trip from the UK to Montenegro via the French Alps, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia - the car performed flawlessly throughout.

For added security, I had a Ghost 2 immobiliser and a Scorpion M Series 5 Tracker professionally installed and these will come with the vehicle. In collaboration with Quantum Tuning, a custom Stage 1 remap was carried out at their HQ on the rolling-road, which has noticeably improved throttle response, smoothed the gearbox operation and made the car feel even more refined. Despite this, long-term fuel economy has remained excellent, averaging 23.9mpg on the digital display."

Sill extensions and gently flared wheel arches underscore the exterior's subtle, timeless elegance.

Wheels and Tyres

The optional 20" Rotor 5-spoke 20” alloys are in good shape with no significant marks or damage.

The front of the car is fitted with Continental Contisport tyres, which are date-coded from 2022 and 2020. The rears are fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres and are both dated from 2022. They all have a spec of 265/30 and have decent tread, but the front pair show superficial chunk damage.

Included in the sale are four Continental Winter Contact M+S XL RO1 94V tyres with approximately 6mm tread remaining.

Bodywork

The exterior is in excellent condition, showing no visible panel damage and a flush fit throughout. All shut lines are consistent, and the doors operate smoothly; only a minor, treatable dent on the bonnet requires attention.

Paint

The black paint finish has a consistent hue and a decent lustre, is free of swirls, and presents well for its age. While there is minor road wear on the nose, and a handful of small chips on the bonnet, these marks are not distracting. A few minor areas of lacquer damage exist elsewhere, but the car remains a positive example.

Glass and Trim

The glass, seals and lights are in good condition, and the trim fits flushly across the body. The only minor trim issue is mild marking on some aluminum fittings.

The bumpers are securely mounted; however, there are some scuff marks on the load area and a small patch of lacquer damage on the front near-side corner.

The interior is beautifully preserved, featuring premium materials and demonstrably outstanding build quality.

Seats and Carpets

The full leather SuperSport seats are in good condition, showing only minor creasing and minimal bolster wear on the driver's side. The rear seats have minor indentations, and the only notable flaw is a fracture on the driver's seat plastic mount.

The carpets and mats are clean, and the boot area is tidy, suggesting careful past use.

Dashboard

The dashboard, fascia, and padding are all in good condition, showing only the minor signs of wear expected for the car's age.

The switches, dials, and controls are smartly presented, with just a couple of centre console switches showing slight use.

The headlining and door cards are also in good shape.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel, paddle shifters and gear select lever are in good condition.

Mechanics

Its thrilling, high-revving character that culminates in a fantastic, theatrical soundtrack.

Engine and Gearbox

The 4.2L naturally-aspirated V8 FSI engine starts instantly and idles smoothly, operating without any unwelcome noises or warning lights. Any initial exhaust condensation quickly dissipates, and no fumes were observed. The engine also restarts effortlessly when warm.

The clean presentation of the engine bay, hoses, and ancillaries reflects its good health.

Crucially, the 7-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission shifts instantly and flawlessly without any reported jerkiness or faults.

Suspension and Brakes

The car rides smoothly, with no clunks or knocks over bumps or when turning. While the ride was typically firm, it offered confidence and felt planted thanks to the all-wheel drive system.

James was satisfied with the Audi's braking ability, suggesting that there were no vibrations or shudders felt through the steering wheel or brake pedal.

All of the pads were replaced in 2023.

The Drive

The RS4's potent, naturally aspirated V8 offers a thrilling performance mix, delivering impressive speed and an intoxicating sound paired with excellent chassis grip. Despite this deep focus on performance, the car is surprisingly efficient on long hauls, with adaptive cruise control yielding sober fuel consumption during motorway driving.

The car handled challenging routes (including straights, inclines, and bends) with satisfying stability and fine steering balance. The V8 delivers a seamless surge of power accompanied by a glorious howl, while the steering tracks smoothly. All driver modes are reported to be fully functional.

Mechanically, a strong maintenance and service record is reflected in the car's health: James reported no issues with oil pressure or engine temperature, and no fluid leaks were observed during our visit.

Electrics and Other

The car has been fitted with an Apple CarPlay system.

The sunroof frame was replaced in 2020.

We didn't test everything during our visit, but James told us, to his knowledge, everything was in working order.

History and Paperwork

Regular maintenance and servicing have ensured the car has remained consistently dependable.

First registered in November 2013, this car comes with a robust service history, including six service invoices plus documentation for three additional Audi services. The accompanying folder of invoices highlights major maintenance items, such as a new water pump in 2021 and a new steering rack in 2020.

Its most recent service was completed in September 2025. The car is fully documented, including its full owner's wallet, booklets, two keys, and an emergency key. Not within the last few years but it also hasnt covered many miles so they look in good condition and stop on a button.
