Introduction

Colin Bashford
Professional Consigner

The RS6 Avant combines blistering performance from its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with enough practicality to carry even the kitchen sink.

Few cars manage to blend supercar performance with everyday practicality quite as convincingly as the 2016 Audi RS6 Avant. At first glance it's an understated executive estate, equally at home on the school run or parked outside a business meeting. Press the starter button, however, and it reveals an entirely different character, delivering relentless acceleration, immense grip and a soundtrack that reminds you this is no ordinary family car.

Representing the pinnacle of Audi's C7 A6 range, the RS6 Avant combines a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 with Audi's legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system, creating a machine that feels just as capable on a twisting B-road as it does devouring motorway miles. Despite its remarkable pace, it remains comfortable, refined and spacious enough to carry five adults and a week's worth of luggage, making it one of the most complete performance cars of its generation.

The RS6 has long held a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts, and the C7 generation elevated the formula even further by pairing devastating real-world performance with everyday usability and subtle styling. It isn't a car that shouts for attention, but those who know exactly what those flared wheel arches, oval exhaust tips and discreet RS badges represent understand they're looking at something rather special.

Whether you're seeking an exhilarating drivers' car, a capable long-distance cruiser or simply one of the finest fast estates ever built, the 2016 Audi RS6 Avant proves you really can have it all.

This car comes from four and a half years ownership with our vendor with ~57,785 miles on the clock, it has had a recent service on 17.07.2026 and comes with a current MOT valid until 03.01.2027.

This listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting Andrew the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I love how effortlessly the RS6 drives, from tootling around town to taking on twisting back roads in Dynamic mode.

Having owned the car for just over four and a half years, Andrew bought the RS6 as a weekend toy to enjoy. During his ownership, he has covered around 20,000 miles, making the most of its blistering performance on weekend blasts along his favourite back roads. He told us that he particularly enjoys the way it combines immense practicality with breath-taking performance.

As Andrew is no longer using the car as much as he once did, he has decided to offer it for auction with us.

Andrew will be available to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

With its muscular stance and flared arches, the RS6 has the looks to match its brutish performance.

Wheels and Tyres

Andrew told us the 20-inch wheels have recently been refurbished and they looked to be in excellent condition.

A matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres has been fitted to the car. These show a date code of 2026, and Andrew told us they were recently fitted.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork around the RS6 appeared to be in lovely condition. We did not notice any dents or scratches, and the shut lines looked nice and tight. The doors, bonnet and boot all opened and closed without issue.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

The grey paintwork appeared to be in lovely condition, with a deep lustre and a brilliant shine. We did notice some stone chips on the bonnet, but these did not detract from the overall presentation.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass around the RS6 appeared to be in great condition. We did not note any chips or cracks in the windscreen or side windows.

The black pack trim around the car also looked to be in lovely condition, with all badges present and correctly fitted.

Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

image

Interior

The full leather interior is complemented by RS badging throughout the cabin, a subtle reminder that you're sitting in something rather special.

Seats and Carpets

Fitted with RS embossed quilted leather seats, they presented in good condition, retaining their shape well over the years and showing only light signs of age.

The carpets also appeared to be in good condition, with no stains observed during our visit.

Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard also appeared to be in nice condition. The flip-out screen was fully functioning, and the dials were all clear and readable, displaying approximately 57,785 miles on the odometer at the time of our visit.

We did not observe any cracks or splits.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The RS steering wheel appeared to be in great condition, showing very little sign of wear.

The gear selector also looked to be in nice condition.

Please take a look at the photos and video below to check the condition of the steering wheel and gear stick for yourself.

image

Mechanics

With a twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet, the RS6 pulls with a ferocity you wouldn't expect from a large family estate.

Engine and Gearbox

The twin-turbo V8 engine fired up straight away from cold, settling nicely and performing well on the road, accompanied by a deep V8 soundtrack.

The 8-speed automatic gearbox also performed well, providing almost seamless shifts.

Please take a look at the cold start video below to see for yourself the performance of the engine and gearbox.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension handled the back roads well during our short drive with Andrew, where we reached the national speed limit with ease. There were no unwanted noises from underneath the car.

The brakes also performed well, bringing the RS6 to a stop without issue. We did not observe any squealing from the brakes during our drive, although the discs did appear to be showing some signs of wear. However, the good news is Andrew will replace the discs in time for the new owner to collect - pictures will be supplied.

Please take a look at the on the road video below to see how the suspension and brakes performed.

image

The Drive

The RS6 can devour the road with ease, with the 4.0-litre V8 sending power to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic gearbox and quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The RS6 performed very well during our drive, pulling strongly through the gears with seamless shifts. The suspension also impressed, with no unwanted noises observed during our time on the road.

To see the car in motion please take a look at the on the road video below.

image

Electrics and Other

The RS6 has a plethora of options.

Andrew told us that all the electrics were working as expected to his knowledge, and he also confirmed that the air conditioning was blowing cold after recently being re-gassed.

image

History and Paperwork

The RS6 comes with a good history, including service invoices and previous MOT certificates.

Having been with Andrew for just over four and a half years, the RS6 has been serviced by a specialist throughout his ownership. He has also recently had the wheels refurbished and fitted with a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tyres. It has just been serviced on 17.07.2026 and comes with a current MOT valid until 3 January 2027.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Sorry – one other thing. I see the past couple of MOTs have quite a few advisories for worn tyres and brake components – have any of these been addressed?

Hi Andrew, I’m seriously considering bidding on the RS6, but just wanted to clarify a few points:

Does it have DRC, and is it currently functioning correctly? Has any DRC/suspension work been required?
Are there any known/current issues or warning lights, particularly with the engine, turbos, injectors, cooling system or gearbox?
Have any other significant/expensive repairs or replacements been carried out, and is there anything you’re aware may need attention in the near future?
Overall, would you say everything is currently working as it should?

I’m mainly trying to get a clear picture of its condition and any potentially significant expenditure approaching. Thanks!

That’s really helpful, thank you Andrew. Just to clarify – by acceptable offer do you mean if the reserve is met?

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
