The DIY mechanic in me just has to know how the brake fluid in the master cylinder is checked and filled? 🙂
There are 2 reservoirs that take the fluid, there are 2 master cylinders there is also an adjuster knob that can alter the braking balance bar adjuster to rear or front etc , no pedal effort/moderate effort/heavy effort.
The system is from CompBrake , I never installed it though
What is the actual oil pressure reading when running, I can see the gauge but can’t read the scale.
Thanks.
When running it is 50-60 LBIN2
4-4.5 KPa v 100
When the car starts it sounds a bit rumbly, can you confirm oil pressure us good and no knocks or rattling from engine
The choke was on from a cold start so will sound a bit chokey , it was running a bit rich so tweaked it over the weekend on a run and drove very well and responsive as expected , i have noticed no issues rattling or knocking , i have had no issues with oil pressure , if you look at the videos on the drive you can see the oil pressure gauge , temp etc , i cant see any issues
It might be worth getting a professional thorough tune up but tinkering about is half the fun of having a classic
Hi Tony,
Can you tell me why there is black insulation tape over the hazard warning switch?
Also, is there a tonneaux cover?
Thanks.
Good morning
I have since tidied this up and it now only has a piece of duct tape on the hazard switch , the hazard warning light switch has recently decided to pop up on its own accord whilst driving along now and again which is quite annoying so I taped it up, i would say that it would be better to replace it in the long run.
Yes It does have a tonneau cover .
Many thanks
Hi Tony, firstly thank you for letting us view the car the other afternoon. Very helpful. You always think of questions when you get home, I should have say if the heater is working and the fan is operating.. Thanks again Kevin
Yes all in good working order
Hi Tony,
Does the car have a regular number plate or is it Q registered?
Thanks
Steve
Hi Steve, it has a regular number plate with old registration as on 1967/68 vehicle
I’m about to tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning if that suits. Thanks.
I can do probably tomorrow afternoon but not Saturday unfortunately, Tradeclassics need to organise the viewing , so needs to be agreed with them
Ok thanks, I’ve emailed Tradeclassics.
Many thanks
Hi. We live near Sudbury. Is there any chance we could view the car?
That’s not a problem need to know a day and time to see if possible
Hello, Please send viewing requests to [email protected] as we’ll organise the visit and ask for some ID. Thanks Adam
I think you need to arrange this with Trade classics
Many thanks Tony
Hello
I notice in the interior pics, specifically 73 of 124, the carpet is lifted and shows what appears like mould.
Can you please advise on what this is?
Thanks.
Hi , we had a drink spill quite a while ago and never thought to look under the carpet at the time and just cleaned up the general spill area.
I noticed it when the carpet was lifted during the photography and it has now been steamed cleaned and removed , it was a very small area and no damage has occurred. Hope that helps .
Regards Tony
Hi,
Firstly, beautiful car. I tend to see these either in metallic green or this colour combo and this is the best by far. I just have a couple of questions if that’s ok?
The engine is 280Z, did it come with the matching gearbox? There seems to be a lot of different brands mentioned when parts have been acquired, e.g. MGB, ford escort, etc, do you have a build sheet or list of all the car’s key components? Do you have any history from 1993 onwards? I’m particularly keen to see anything which evidenced mileage from its early years. Finally, do you have details of the paint codes?
Many thanks
John
Many thanks for your kind comments
I have looked through the paperwork and this is going to be the best I can reply with.
Terry Franklin built this car in 1992 and owned this as far as I can see up to 2004, he is the Honorary President of the Sebring Owners Club , there is a brass plague fitted in the engine bay confirming this etc .
There is paperwork confirming everything I am about to disclose accordingly.
The Z Farm Datsun Z Engines supplied what looks like a new rebuilt Concourse engine and gearbox from the original build in 1999 to Terry Franklin .
Datsun 280ZX Engine reconditioned £975.00
With regards to mileage I would conclude that it is genuine mileage of the reconditioned Datsun Engine from looking at paperwork and old mot certs which I think have been listed .
There’s also various smaller invoices that were not listed but if you check over the paperwork listed I’m sure you would probably come to the same conclusion that the mileage is genuine.
I’m sorry I can’t help with paint codes but I believe them to be Austin Healey paint codes but can’t really confirm this .
Regards Tony
Thanks Tony. I appreciate that when a car passes through a number of hands that documents sometimes aren’t saved or are lost. You’ve added a fair bit of the knowledge I was after so many thanks
