Introduction

I love everything about this car, the colour scheme, the trims, but mostly the condition of the car. It’s squeaky clean inside and out and has never let me down.

I bought the car in 2020 following a nut and bolt restoration, and have preserved it with light use ever since.

I'm selling due to a growing family and having little to no time to dedicate to the car - it's time someone else enjoyed it as much as we have!

This listing was written from information supplied by XXXXX after meeting XXXXX the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Market Auction

Alec, the seller, has created this listing themselves using our free Market Auction tool. Unlike our Curated Auctions, we haven’t photographed the car or written the listing, however we have completed 3 important security checks for your peace of mind.

V5C Checked

Alec provided a copy of the V5C logbook, which we verified against his photo ID for name and address confirmation.

Exterior

The paint scheme is superb - I’ve had endless compliments on the colours: Clipper Blue + Old English White. It’s what originally attracted me to the car, and what I had planned for my own previous restoration. It really stands out in a crowd!

Wheels and Tyres

I bought the car on 10x3.5”s and bought new 10x4. 5" wheels and 185 tyres in 2022. Primarily fitted to fill out the wheel arches but they also generate more stability and confidence when cornering compared to the 3. 5"s.

The wheel alignment was re-done at the time of fitting, since which point only c.1000 miles have been covered.

Bodywork

Restorer notes (2019): "It has had all the rot cut out and many new panels added. This includes a new front end with inner wings, windscreen support panels, door jambs and flitch, scuttle panel, inner sills + outer sills painted internally, new jacking points, floor pans, floor pan seating cross member, rear subframe mounting and support panels, boot floor and battery box, rear valance and closing panels, door skins."

Over sills have not been used, so the sill cavity can breathe as from the factory.

Paint

Restorer notes (2019): "It has been treated and protected underneath with Gravitex. The body has been painted in Clipper Blue with an Old English White Roof."

The paintwork remains immaculate and clean, even underneath and in the arches!

Glass and Trim

All new chrome Mk1 grille and rear lamp conversion, in addition to number plate lamp, bumpers, wipers, jets, metal number plates, and a complete door lock set with two sets of keys.

The windscreen has a blue top tint/sun strip which has negated the need for sun visors.

A Mk1 number plate carrier was added in 2021, plus a private 1963 reg to complete the '60s look.

A quick release grille and spot-lamps were fitted to the front (please note these are aesthetic only - not wired up) in 2022.

Chrome arch strips added in 2025

Interior

I love the minimalist look of the interior and the contrast of black, chrome and clipper blue.

Seats and Carpets

The interior has been finished with black leatherette seats, door cards, head lining and black carpets. There's a full insulation kit under the carpets. New seat belts have also been fitted.

A drivers seat mounting extender was fitted in 2020.

Chrome interior door accessories were added in 2021.

Dashboard

A single central gauge was fitted, to mimic the Mk1 look, and the exposed dash structure is finished in Clipper Blue to match the exterior.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

I added an SMCO wooden steering wheel (installed slightly off-centre!), back in 2022 to complete the retro interior look.

Mechanics

The car always starts and has never let me down, even on longer trips to the likes of Goodwood and back (~300mile round trip).

Engine and Gearbox

It would almost be faster to list what hasn't been replaced!

Restorer notes (2019): "The Engine is an A+: this car was one of the first to have this fitted from factory. It is also blessed with all four cylinder factory lined 998 block, which is far stronger than the standard block that will suffer from cylinder wear. Another nice A+ feature is no bypass hose between head and block."

"The Head has had new unleaded valves, guides. seats, etc. It's also had new piston rings, ACL bearings throughout, oil pump, timing gear, ignition system, water pump, hoses, cooling fan, radiator, thermostat, starter motor, alternator, new stage 1 kit, RC40 exhaust, manifold, inlet manifold, needle, and filter."

The Gearbox has under gone a full rebuild: bearings through out, including uprated diff bearings, bulk rings, 2nd gear and synchro, new primary gear, clutch and slave & master cylinder, diff seals, and a stop leak kit was fitted to gear selector rod.

An SMCO magnetic sump plug and AccuSpark electronic ignition kit, coil, and HT leads were added in 2021

Suspension and Brakes

Restorer notes (2019): "The subframes are in great condition, recently purchased by the previous owner. All bushing, tracking, bump stops, shocks arm bearings etc are new. Also fitted are new wheel bearings, back plates, cylinders, Apex Shoes, drums, hand brake, steering rake, rive shafts, master brake cylinder, and pipe work.

Drum brakes all round, which was standard until the Mk5 in 1984.

New fuel filter and braided flexi pipe was fitted in 2022.

New AP clutch slave cylinder (previous one leaked) in 2023.

The Drive

The car always starts and has never let me down, and starts even quicker than factory since adding the AccuSpark ignition kit.

It really pulls through seamless gear changes and will happily cruise for hours.

Electrics and Other

Restorer notes (2019): "Brand new full car wiring loom, fuse box, relays, ignition barrel, combination stalks, alternator, starter motor, wiper motor, lamps, and more."

A new brake lamp switch was fitted in 2021.

History and Paperwork

The Mini benefitted from a nut and bolt restoration, completed in 2019, and is now MOT and tax exempt: its last MOT was passed in 2022. The car has always been stored in a dry garage throughout my ownership.

The car had a new service completed 09/08/25, with items including:
- Oil change (20W50 Valvoline VR1 Oil)
- Oil filter (MANN 712)
- Air filter (Fletcher filter for HIF38 Carb)
- Spark plugs (NGK BP6ES)
- Suspension joints greased

Its last MOT in 2022 flagged the hose from fuel tank to filter. Added a photo of the filter which shows the hose that passes through the bodywork. I changed one of these lines to braided when changing the filter but one rubber hose remains.

All receipts from the restoration are present as well as every subsequent part change and MOT receipt

Any mechanical spares and fluids will be inclued in the sale (e.g original points ignition), plus touch up paints and Mini-specific tools

Private 1963 reg with vintage black and white plate to be sold with the car. Unless buyer specifically wants to revert to original 1982 plate - in this case I would retain the private reg.

Spare wheel can be provided from previous 10x3.5s wheel and tyre set.

Other spares are available and will be discussed with the buyer seperately.

From Trade Classics:
This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.
