A nice, one owner example of the limited edition Mini 30, built to celebrate three decades of this evergreen classic.

In 1989, Mini celebrated its 30th Birthday with the Mini 30, a limited run of 3,000 cars. To set it apart from the standard Mini Mayfair, it was adorned with 30th anniversary badges, unique trim-half leather seats, along with some extra equipment. Some of these special features included an option of "Cherry Red" paint with two coats of clear lacquer, Mini 30 crests, servo assisted front brakes, body-coloured arches, sills, wings, and a boot light! The Mini Thirty is powered by the 998cc version of the trusty A plus-series engine.

This example is a much-cherished, one owner car in great condition for the year and its ~94,000 miles. We have been informed that the car was subject to a major body restoration five years ago and it drives like every classic Mini should - with dynamic handling and a truly exhilarating 'analogue' driving experience that turns every journey into an event. Coming to market with all the Mini 30 bits, we think this one owner car should grab the attention of enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Meet the owner

It's a great little car - reliable, economical, classic, it's always been a joy to own and drive.

In 1989, Philip purchased the Mini new from a dealer's showroom in Germany as a present for his wife, bringing it back to the UK in 1991 when they returned. Now, 33 years later, the car has become part of the family. Both his children have learnt to drive in the Mini and Phillip tells us it has always been garaged.

Sadly, as the couple are getting older, they no longer use the car as frequently as they used to. They have decided, albeit reluctantly, that now is the time to sell. Phillip tells us the car is in good order, having been regularly serviced from new. 5 years ago, it was subject to a 12 month long major restoration. The car presents and drives well and we think could easily provide its new owner with another 30 years of memories. Philip will be happy to answer any queries in the comments section below.

When you hop out of this Mini 30, you'll instinctively turn around to look at its evocative styling, it's a classic icon.

Wheels and Tyres

This Mini 30 sits on its original and correct 12" Minilite alloys. These appear in excellent condition, with no large scratches noted on our observation.

Tyres appear all good as pictured, with plenty of tread left, nothing noted in terms of advisory notes in last years MOT. View the pictures to see the detail.

Bodywork

Subject to major body restoration 5 years ago, this Mini 30 looks in very good condition, with straight bodywork and correct panel gaps. To be fussy, we noticed a very minor impression on the top of the offside front wing.

Paint

Finished in "Cherry Red", one of two special colours for this limited edition Mini, the paint appeared in very good condition on our visit. The restoration work appears completed to a good standard, with even coverage and colour across each panel.

Again, please take time to review all the images and videos showing the paint from different angles and reflections, to assess the condition for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks good . We didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration on inspection. The window seals look great too, in line with the condition of the rest of the car.

The chrome bumpers, grille, door, boot handles, and window surrounds look in good condition for the year, wear in line with the age and use. The car has the limited edition decals on the exterior as pictured, as well as the correct badges.

Bespoke leather seats with red piping, red carpet and a factory stereo set this Mini 30 apart from the rest.

Seats and Carpets

This Mini 30 is fitted with black leather seats with contrasting red piping. This theme continues on to the half-cloth door cards and the look is completed with red carpeting throughout.

The seats are in good used condition, with no noticeable big rips or tears and the carpet looks very well preserved. View the image gallery and video to see the detail.

Dashboard

The dashboard is the familiar later Mini layout with a three instrument pod including rev counter, mounted on the driver's side behind the steering wheel. The panels, dials, switchgear and heating vents all appear in decent condition for the age of the vehicle.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel features the unique 30th Anniversary badge. There is evidence of wear and holes in the red leather rim as pictured. The gearstick appears in good condition for the year.

Mechanics

You'll find the trusty 998cc A plus-series engine under the bonnet of this little car, the 41BHP goes a long way in a vehicle as diminutive and lightweight as the Mini.

Engine and Gearbox

Phillip reports the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well, with a smooth manual gearbox and compliant clutch. Please view the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, no untoward noises picked up on our documentation. When out on the road, Philip worked through the gears without issue.

Suspension and Brakes

The owner tells us he has kept the car regularly serviced and the suspension and brakes appeared in good order. There are no apparent untoward noises over bumps and the brakes are said to pull up straight and true. The Mini has great handling built into its design and this car does not appear to disappoint.

The Drive

The Mini is alive. It offers a truly visceral experience. Handing and steering response is sharp and the car's diminutive size allows you to thread the Mini through gaps that a modern car driver could only dream of making. It's still probably the fastest A to B car in crowded city traffic. This Mini is pure unadulterated fun and runs and drives as it should.

Electrics and Other

The Mini 30 came with a radio as part of the spec, and a boot light! Philip reports that all electrics are working correctly to his knowledge.

History and Paperwork

A one owner example of this anniversary celebration limited edition Mini, restored 5 years ago to its former glory, it's finally time for a new custodian to take ownership.

Coming to market from the original owners, they first purchased this car in Germany when they were living out of the UK. In 1991 they imported the car back with them, hence the registration date. In that time, they have covered some ~94,500 miles, and ~5 years ago, Philip had the car restored over 12 months with a classic restoration house. With it back to a former glory, the original owners are looking for a new owner to take over the custodianship of this classic limited edition Mini 30.
