Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional consigner and photographer

A rare blend of British craftsmanship and performance, combining stately luxury with bespoke Mulliner touches and a powerful turbocharged V8.

The Bentley Brooklands R Mulliner is one of those rare machines that perfectly captures the spirit of British luxury motoring in the late 20th century. Built in limited numbers and hand-finished at Crewe, it represents a blend of exclusivity, craftsmanship, and performance that only Bentley could deliver.

The Brooklands name was already associated with grace and refinement, but in Mulliner R specification, it gained a sharper edge, designed for those who wanted the comfort of a grand touring saloon with a more dynamic driving character. Mulliner enhancements brought not only unique styling cues and bespoke touches but also engineering refinements, giving the Brooklands R a more purposeful presence both inside and out. the car is also a long wheelbase model with extra leg room which was not the case on standard Brooklands.

As one of the most exclusive models of its time, the Bentley Brooklands R Mulliner is more than just a luxury saloon – it is a statement car. With its rarity, road presence, and blend of refinement and performance, it remains a standout example of Bentley’s ability to build cars that are both deeply elegant and quietly formidable.

This stunning example has been in its current ownership for ~27 years with only the Wyndham Cardiff dealership having prior ownership. The Brooklands has plenty of factory luxuries including; mesh grille, shortened exhaust with oval tailpipe, body colour mirror supports, body colour bumpers, mesh air vents, green badging, Mulliner badging, drilled alloy pedals, chrome bezels, embroidered sports seats, stereo system and limited edition interior badges.

The car has only travelled ~200 miles since its last service, completed by Bentley Bristol. With ~25,722 miles on the clock, this is a well specified, beautifully presented Bentley and makes for a truly exceptional car. It comes with a fresh MOT valid until 21.09.2026.

This listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Raymond the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

A car that makes you really proud to own and drive - it's been a pleasure to have this at home, and I always look forward to driving it.

Having owned Bentley's previously, Raymond was on the lookout for something a little more special when he came across the Brooklands R Mulliner edition, "I purchased the car from Wyndham of Cardiff who were the authorised Bentley dealership at the time".

Other than the 2 months the Bentley was stored at the dealership, the car has been in Raymond's possession and he has been the main driver, he says, "I have loved every minute of ownership and it's been a dream to drive".

As Raymond approaches his 80th birthday, he tells us, "I'm at a stage of my life where I need to think about downsizing my car collection with great reluctance. I don't use this one as much as I'd like, so I think the time has come to find the Brooklands a new home. My children live abroad and in the city and I don't think they'd really want this one!"

Should you have any questions about the car, Raymond would be happy to answer these in the comments section below.

Exterior

Refined lines, imposing presence, and handcrafted Mulliner details exude timeless British luxury with a touch of sporting edge.

Wheels and Tyres

The car is equipped with 18" Bentley sports alloy wheels finished in silver with green Bentley centre emblems. These are all in great condition, just some very minor marking to the front passenger side wheel, overall though, these present very well.

The car is fitted with a set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres, with a tread specification of 255/50 for both the front and rear. The condition of the tyres appears to be good, and the date codes indicate they are from 2003.

Please take a look at the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior of the Bentley and a closer look at the wheels and tyres to make your own assessment of their condition.

image

Bodywork

This Bentley is a stunning example, the car sits level, with shut lines and panel gaps looking great, and no visible panel distortion was observed. Both sets of doors, the boot, and the bonnet open and close smoothly, in line with the expected quality of this vehicle.

Regarding the exterior bodywork, we found no major concerns, as it showed in excellent condition.

We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Very smartly presented - the paint coverage is even across the car with no noted imperfections to colour.

We didn't note any real concerns with the paint, although standing back in the light showed signs of swirl marks to the panels and the finish looked slightly flat. There were very minor marks where the car has had a cover on it. A good level of polishing would likely remedy these observations, again though, nothing overly concerning here given the rest of the condition.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to form your own opinion about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The front and rear windscreen, side windows, front and rear lights all appear in excellent condition, and we could see no signs of scratching or chips on the glass.

Badges and emblems are present, correct and look very smart, especially the green design "B" logos on the exterior.

We didn't note any issues on the seals on the exterior and these areas showed to be in-line with the rest of the condition of the car. The interior cabin trim sections showed very well and meticulously cared for.

We've taken you around the car in greater detail in our exterior review video, please take the time to look over the video and see how the glass and trim look from different perspectives.

image

Interior

A cabin of pure luxury - hand-finished leather, rich wood veneers, and unmistakable Bentley craftsmanship, all tailored for comfort and presence.

Seats and Carpets

The smart cream and beige electric leather front "R" sports seats are in lovely condition overall, showing minimal creases in the leather. There were no real concerns, although we noted a small area of wear through use on the drivers seat edge where a clean over may benefit this. The rear seating section with fluted panels also appeared to be in excellent condition and appeared barely used.

Bentley's attention to detail and premium quality is evident throughout the cabin, where the intricate, twin-stitching "Flying B" embroidered detailing was a real highlight.

Deep-pile over-mats are included both in the front and rear, and are in excellent condition. When we looked underneath the contrasting blue mats, the base 'Spruce Green' carpet also reflected the same condition. Looking at the base layer of the mats shows the plastic tread plate had worn through, a very typical note on these cars.

We also examined the boot section, which was well-maintained, clean, and tidy. A notable feature here was the cream piping that added a touch of elegance to the carpeted boot interior.

We've captured high-resolution photos and a full interior video tour through the car. This covers off the angles inside the car for you to review and appreciate the condition of what's on offer here in our interior review section.

image

Dashboard

A stunning dark stained burr walnut dashboard is beautifully presented in this car. The dash area appears to be in excellent condition with no issues to report.

The top of the dash, finished in green, presents very well and without splits, cracking, or warping and the materials used here are truly premium. The odometer displayed ~25,711 miles at the time of our visit, Raymond has taken the car for an MOT since our visit and the mileage is now 25,722.

As the 84th car built of this limited edition run, the badging to demonstrate this sits proudly on the centre section, along with the 'push-start' button.

The dials, switches, and controls all appear to be in lovely condition, with surfaces free from fogging or scratching.

We noted no issues with any warning lights and all areas of the cabin area appeared to be functioning without concern when starting up the car and out on the road.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The Bentley features a 4-spoke steering wheel - it is finished in black perforated hide with body colour matched grips, which looks great on this example. The finish is in excellent condition; in line with the rest of the car.

The selector for the gearing is located in the centre section surrounded by beautiful burr walnut. These areas also appear to be in great condition. Truly, a remarkable place to be to take on the road ahead in style and comfort.

We've captured high-resolution photos for you to review and appreciate the condition of the interior in our gallery section.

image

Mechanics

Under the bonnet lies a hand-built 6.75L turbocharged V8, delivering effortless power with signature Bentley refinement - a perfect balance of muscle and luxury.

Engine and Gearbox

Delivering ~325 BHP with a 0-60 MPH time of ~6.9 seconds and onto a top speed of ~145 MPH, the Bentley is rapid - especially considering its longer wheelbase set up. A remarkable machine, well capable of both performance and style.

Starting the car during our visit showed no issues. The Bentley ran very smoothly from start-up, with its engine running very nicely, functioning well, and effortlessly handling its tasks. We noted no warning lights and had no concerns about its capabilities during our visit.

We had the opportunity to take the car out on local roads alongside the current owner, to fully experience this vehicle. During the drive, we observed the car working through the gearing without issue and gained insights from Raymond's perspective on the car's performance. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting up and more detail in the engine bay.

image

Suspension and Brakes

On the drive in the Bentley, we heard no knocks, bangs, or squeaks from the sports suspension, and overall, the car performed as expected with no observed issues and provided an exceptional ride out.

The Bentley micro-alloy performance brakes felt solid, with no noticeable pull or vibrations during the journey, bringing the car to a stop smoothly and in line with our quality expectations.

Please take a look over the mechanical videos and photographs to see close-up images from under the car.

image

The Drive

With its stylish design and premium engineering, the Bentley is the kind of car that truly stands out in a crowd thanks to its rich heritage and luxury appeal. This beautiful machine is a real rarity on our roads today thanks to its prestige, high end quality and bespoke initial ordering.

With its elegance and power the Bentley embodies sophistication whilst having enough grunt under the bonnet to truly deliver some impressive performance.

image

Electrics and Other

The Bentley is well spec'd with tasteful extras including; mesh grille, shortened exhaust with oval tailpipe, body colour mirror supports, body colour bumpers, mesh air vents, green badging, Mulliner badging, drilled alloy pedals, chrome bezels, embroidered sports seats and limited edition interior badges.

Also equipped is a Motorola telephone handset and uprated stereo system with 6 disc CD changer in the centre storage.

Raymond told us that he's had no issues with the electrical elements on the car, and everything is working as it should, to his knowledge.

image

History and Paperwork

~27 year ownership, 1 of only 100 made and fewer than ~2,000 miles covered in the last ~10 years - a super rare, well maintained and well equipped LWB car.

Coming from ~27 years with only the Wyndham Cardiff dealership having prior ownership and then transferred to the current owners company, before putting it in his own name in 2011, the Bentley is a prime example of a very well maintained and cared for car.

Raymond told us "in September 2023 I took the car to Bentley Bristol (there is no longer a Bentley Dealer in Cardiff) and asked them to check the car throughout and do any work they felt was required. The cost was £3,298 including a 10,000 mile service." this covered; visual health check, oil filter change, new rear gas suspension spring, adjustment to the parking brake, air-con re-gas, new front and rear pads and replacement steering rack gaiters.

We cover the history of the Bentley in our paperwork gallery. Take a look over the previous servicing records and MOT certificates to see more behind this example. The car is finished with its Bentley service handbook, Bentley owners' handbook and toolkit.

The number plate "126 RTN" is not included in the sale, the car is now on the plate R682 CTX and has a fresh MOT that is valid until 21.09.2026.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hi,

Raymond has asked me to pass on his reply:

“All the electrics on the car work. The alarm works, the doors lock using the key fob, the windows, wing mirrors and seats all work. As does the battery charging system.

The cars had services carried out by the Bentley Main Dealer in 1998,1999,2000,2001,and 2002 when the mileage was 13281. It then had a 15,000 service in January 2008.
The Dealer did what was described as a Summer service in July 2010 when the mileage was 19348.
In November 2012 the Dealer did what was called a Promotion service at 22166 miles.
The car was for the most part garaged but started up on a regular basis.
In September 2023 I took the car to Bentley Bristol as there was no longer a Bentley dealer in Cardiff. I asked that they check the car for any problems and correct them and at the same time carry out a 10,000 mile service. The cost was over £3000 and the mileage at that time was 25,510 just 3000 miles since the last service.

Raymond”

Hi,

Raymond has asked me to pass on his reply:

“I believe the car is ULEZ compliant but to check using the registration 126RTN or the new registration R682CTX.”

Thanks,
Colin.
