Introduction

Alan Stuart
Professional Consigner

Looks, performance, and unparalleled luxury in a Grand Tourer - The GTC benefits from the open top experience too.

Long associated with premium motoring, glamour, and legendary engineering the company has enjoyed success at Le Mans and Brooklands, historic associations with Rolls Royce and is, since 1998, the luxury offering from VW. Bentley is a high end brand that generates loyalty, admiration, and a touch of envy in car fans the world over – these cars are an institution. The Continental GTC Speed stays true to the Bentley tradition and yet offers more – this is a sporting grand tourer with supercar credentials. Offering a 6.0L, 12 Cylinder, twin-turbo engine, four-wheel drive with 50:50 rear/front bias and unparalleled luxury, these cars offer pace, control, and style few can match. Bentley's "Flying B" is said to represent the 'exhilaration of motion' and with ~600BHP on tap, delivering 0-60 in ~4.3 seconds, we can see why.

This GTC Speed has been in its current ownership for ~2.5 years with 7 previous owners, 3 of which were in the same family. The Bentley has optional extra's from factory at an estimated value of ~£30,000. These include; reversing camera, upgraded wheels, improved interior, updated steering wheel and carbon ceramic brakes to name but a few of the upgrades. Recent servicing was completed around ~1,000 miles ago by Nigel Sandall, Bentley specialist. With ~33,000 miles on the clock, this is a well specified, well presented example. The Bentley comes with a transferable warranty valid until October 2024.

This listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Abbas the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

It's such a great feeling driving the Bentley, it gives you a real sense of class and luxury and a true joy when out on the road.

The current owner, Abbas, is a self confessed petrol head and a keen motoring enthusiast "I've owned the car for ~2.5 years now, it's such a beautiful car, graceful on the road and just cruises along so well when out in it".

The optional extras on this car, including carbon ceramic brakes for top performance when it comes to control, were a big draw. In his ownership, he's kept on top of servicing and maintenance, most recently less than ~1,000 miles ago with Bentley specialist Nigel Sandall. Abbas is currently downsizing his collection of cars due to limited storage space "If I had more space, I'd keep the car as its one of my all time driving greats, I'm looking to free up some room as I just don't have anywhere to store it". He will be on hand to answer these in the 'Ask the Owner' section below.

Exterior

Lowered, tuned and even more menacing than its predecessors, the GTC Speed wraps up performance and style into a beautifully crafted package.

Wheels and Tyres

The car is equipped with 20" Bentley Speed multi-spoke wheels finished in 'Dark Tint'. They are in good condition and present well, we did notice a few curb markings on some of the wheels. There is also a space-saving spare wheel included with the car, located in the boot.

The car is fitted with a set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres, with a tread specification of 275/35R20 for the front and rear. The condition of the tyres appears to be good, and the date codes indicate they are from 2018.

Bodywork

This Bentley is a stunning example, the car sits level, with shut lines and panel gaps looking great, and no visible panel distortion was observed. Both doors, the boot, and the bonnet open and close smoothly, in line with the expected quality of this vehicle.

Regarding the exterior bodywork, we found no major concerns, as it showed in great condition. We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in "Blue Crystal", a new optional paint colour for 2009 models, the paint looks in overall great condition with a even colour and finish across all of the exterior. Looking in detail and being picky, we did note a small scratch on the grille surround of the bonnet which has been touched up, a stone chip in the middle of the bonnet, and a small scratch on the rear bumper.

We've taken high-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork and paint for yourselves. The images are taken from various angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourselves. So please, take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass sections around the Bentley looked stunning, with the windscreen, windows, mirrors, and lenses all appearing to be in great condition, with no cracks, chips, or significant scratching observed during our visit. The lights, both at the front and rear of the car, appeared to be in great condition consistent with the overall presentation of the vehicle. The seals were also in excellent condition, having received replacement upgrades for these areas in 2018.

The soft-top roof was in great condition, with the blue fabric matching the exterior paint nicely when examining the car. During our visit, we did note a couple of small marks on the soft-top hood. Additionally, we observed that the car's exterior was missing the 'd' from the 'Speed' badge on the nearside front quarter. Take a look through the exterior gallery and review video. We take you across all the areas of the car as if you were standing there yourself.

Interior

All the prestige of an exclusive club – "Flying B" diamond pattern leather, sculpted massage seats, aluminium inlays and luxurious deep-pile carpets - A luxurious place to be.

Seats and Carpets

The smart cream leather massage electric front seats are in great condition, showing minimal creases in the leather and no real concerns. The rear seating section appeared to be in excellent condition and seemed barely used. The multifunction electric front seats provide different comfort options for the driver and passenger. Bentley's attention to detail and premium quality is evident throughout the cabin, from the intricate "Flying B" detailing with contrasting blue stitching and matching seatbelts to the diamond-stitch pattern across the seating sections.

Deep-pile over-mats are included both in the front and rear and are in excellent condition. When we looked underneath the mats, the base blue carpet also appeared to be in excellent condition. We also examined the boot section, which was well-maintained, clean, and tidy. A notable feature here was the cream piping that added a touch of elegance to the carpeted boot interior. Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Dashboard

A beautiful turned Aluminium dashboard with cream and blue leather has been optioned in this car. The blue-toned dash area appears to be in excellent condition with no major issues to report. The top of the dash presents well and without splits, cracking, or warping. The materials used here are truly premium. The odometer displayed ~33,002 miles at the time of our visit.

The dials, switches, and controls are beautifully presented; all faces look clean and clear, with no fogging or scratching. We noted no issues with any warning lights, and the gauges and dials were all functioning without concern. The Breitling clock face worked flawlessly and was another standout feature in the GTC Speed. Our interior gallery section takes you through some closer images of the Bentley's dashboard. Head over and see the car's interior in finer detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The Bentley features an upgraded 3-spoke, dual-tone, leather-trimmed steering wheel, which looks great on this example. The dual-tone leather is in excellent condition, in line with the rest of the car.

The selector for the automatic gearing is located in the centre section alongside an electronic handbrake. A great touch in this area is the turned Aluminium surround in an attractive blue tone. These areas also appear to be in great condition. We've captured high-resolution photos for you to review and appreciate the condition of the interior in our gallery section.

Mechanics

The Bentley W12 engine is an engineering marvel, 6.0L twin-turbo, 6 speed automatic gearbox and all wheel drive delivers ~600BHP and a 0-60 time of ~4.3 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

Starting the car during our visit showed no issues. The engine was only warmed up slightly to drive the car from its space in the underground car park to where we photographed and videoed the GTC Speed. The Bentley ran very smoothly from start-up, with its 6.0L W12 engine purring nicely, functioning well, and effortlessly handling its tasks. We noted no warning lights and had no concerns about its capabilities during our visit.

We had the opportunity to take the car out on local roads alongside the current owner, Abbas, to fully experience this vehicle. During the drive, we observed the car working through the automatic gearing without issue and gained insights from Abbas's perspective on the car's performance. Please take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting up and for a closer look underneath the Bentley.

Suspension and Brakes

On the drive in the GTC Speed, we heard no knocks, bangs, or squeaks from the suspension, and overall, the car performed as expected with no observed issues. The carbon ceramic brakes felt solid, with no noticeable pull or vibrations during the journey, bringing the car to a stop smoothly and in line with Bentley's quality expectations. These were added as an optional extra when the car was originally purchased and are a great enhancement to the car, an option available on the Speed from 2009 models.

We cover the underside of the Bentley in our 'Mechanical gallery' section. Head over to our video section where we've summarised our visit in more detail for you to view for yourself. We take you around the mechanical elements of the car and give you an overview of what's on offer here.

The Drive

With its stylish design and premium engineering, the Bentley is the kind of car that truly stands out in a crowd thanks to its rich heritage and luxury appeal. This charismatic cruiser is a rarity on our roads today thanks to its prestige and high end quality.

With its elegance and power the Bentley embodies sophistication whilst having enough grunt under the bonnet to truly deliver some impressive performance. Featuring an all-wheel drive system with 50/50 power split, the Bentley is a real powerhouse delivering seriously impressive performance and capable of hitting over ~200MPH in a safe environment.

Electrics and Other

The Bentley is packed with additional upgrades added from its original purchase. Abbas, the current owner, estimates there are around ~£30,000 of optional extras included on this model.

Some of the features include; 'Coming Home' controls, (electronic gate / garage opener), adaptive cruise control, iPod linked interface, power boot open and close, rear view camera and Ultrasonic park distance front and rear. There is also a TV tuner to infotainment system, alloy fuel filter cap, Carbon Ceramic brakes and burnished aluminium fascia, door and rear quarter inserts. Other highlights of the car are; Massage powered, multi function, diamond hand-stitched electric front seats, a 3 spoke, dual tone, hide trimmed steering wheel and Breitling clock face on the dash area. There is also a sport option on the exhaust giving it a little more "growl" than standard.

Abbas let us know that he's had no issues with the electrical elements on the car, and everything is working as it should, although we were unable to test all of the features during our visit.

History and Paperwork

Specified with an estimated ~£30,000 worth of extras included, this GTC Speed comes to market from ~2.5 year ownership and coming with warranty until October 2024.

The Bentley is a beautiful example of a well looked after car. Luxury supercars don't come much better than this model thanks to the great amount of additional, premium features added to the car. Upgrade extra's include; reversing camera, upgraded wheels, improved interior, updated steering wheel and carbon ceramic brakes to name but a few options. The history is highlighted in our paperwork gallery where other servicing includes; Air injection pump bank, roof body control unit, rear light lens, under body protection completed in June 2023 at a cost of over ~£1,000. MAF sensor harness replacement in July 2022, exhaust gas temp sensor, broken tensioner and meter replacement in June 2022 costing over ~£1,000. Major servicing and rework of weather sealing was completed in March 2018 which cost ~£11,199 at Bentley Manchester.

The car comes with a current MOT, valid until 09.11.2024, it also has a warranty which is valid until October 2024.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

Should any questions be required, Abbas would be happy to answer these in the 'ask the owner' section.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house. This is an auction and normal auction rules apply, i.e. there is no warranty, no return policy and bids are binding with more info in our terms and conditions.

Key Bidding Facts

What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
