Featuring the 3.2L 320BHP engine from the E36 M3, and only a 5 speed manual gearbox option, the Z3 was transformed completely. It didn't stop with the drivetrain; LSD fitted, wider rear track, larger brakes, along with a host of design tweaks too.

This particular example comes to sale from a private collection of classic and sports cars. It's covered just ~27,000 miles in its life, has a full BMW service history, and has just been serviced by BMW on the 1st of September. When you see the condition, you can understand why it's been stored away.

Exterior

Finished in the M Colour, Estoril Blue, this Z3M is an absolute beauty.

Wheels and Tyres

Roadstar Style 40 BMW wheels, all wrapped in Toyo rubber, excellent condition.

Take a look at the images and video review, the deep dish rear wheels really look the part with the wider track on the back of the car.

Bodywork

This is a low mileage example that has clearly been looked after. All the shut-lines and panel gaps look tight and correct on this car.

No signs of corrosion anywhere, and as you'll see in the video review, nothing like parking dents present either, a truly stunning car.

Paint

The Estoril Blue metallic paint on this car is gorgeous, even in finish and colour across all the panels.

You'll see in some of the images and videos of the engine bay area, that the car is still wearing protective plastic that sits on the bodywork under the side grills. There's a small chip of paint on the boot, and some very slight stone chips on the front of the car, other than those there were no marks observed.

Glass and Trim

Looking as original and unmarked as you might expect for a collectors car like this.

The glass looks great, and the hood importantly does too. Other elements like the chrome detailing on the side grills look sharp and reflective.

Interior

An M specific interior, sports seats unique for the Z3M and leather wrapped features throughout.

Seats and Carpets

Two tone in a matching black and blue leather, and black carpets.

With the Z3M model, other features such as the doors also featured leather, along with the centre console being expertly wrapped too. This example looks in very good condition in line with the low mileage. Just some leather wear on the drivers seat outer bolster that an expert detailer could rectify. Take a look at the video review for the detail.

Dashboard

Featuring M detailing specific to this model, and an extra set of information dials in the centre console, the cabin feels like a special place to be.

All present in excellent condition, and everything is working as it should do. You'll see on the cold start video gauges all displaying correctly.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Colour matched detailing, and M Sport cues through both the steering wheel and gearstick.

Both present in very good condition, original to the car.

Mechanics

A 6 cylinder 3.2L little monster, this roadster packs an unlikely punch in performance.

Engine and Gearbox

The car has been serviced by BMW as recently as the 1st of September, the engine and gearbox on this car are an absolute delight.

Along with the mechanical maintenance, take a look at the condition of the engine bay. It hasn't been detailed for sale, it's just been very well cared for, amazing to see an example like this.

Suspension and Brakes

A wider track to deliver the extra power through the road, and bigger brakes that are the same as the M3 E36 car to ensure you stop efficiently too.

The Drive

Colin informs us that the car is a really fun and sporty drive.

The 3.2L power plant can propel the car from 0-60MPH in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 155MPH... you can't ask for more than that in an open top roadster from 1998.

Electrics and Other

All working as they should do on this example, including the electric folding roof. You'll see images of the interior with the roof up and fully closed.
