Introduction

Paul Wright
Professional Consigner

A sleek, luxurious grand tourer that pairs high-end cabin comfort with muscular twin-turbo V8 performance.

The 6-Series BMW has been with us since 1976, initially starting with the E24 before moving on considerably with the E63/E64. In 2010, the new F12 range came along. Longer by 74mm and 39mm wider than its predecessor, the 6-Series was available in either a coupé or convertible form.

BMW moved the bar with the launch of the F12, creating a stylish and very usable grand tourer. The attention to detail is second to none and it has everything you could ask for; especially when you get to the iDrive system. Once you’ve taken time to explore it, this becomes second nature and is a pleasure to use.

This lovely 2011 650i SE comes from over 5 years ownership, with an excellent options package, making it the ultimate 6 series - and it only has just over ~43,000 miles on the clock.

This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting John the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

"I’ve had various Mercedes and Jaguars in the past but always come back to BMW."

John purchased this 650i SE approximately 5 years ago, spotting the well-specced example for sale. It was perfect to add to his collection as a luxury grand touring convertible for the weekend.

With just over ~6,000 miles covered in that time, it’s safe to say it’s not really been used an enormous amount, and rather than it sitting there, it’s time to let someone else have the pleasure of the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8.

John will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

The F12's aesthetic clearly builds on previous generations of 6-Series, and combines modern elegance with the timeless, classic BMW hallmarks we all know and love.

Wheels and Tyres

The original ten-spoke alloy wheels are in excellent condition. There is one minor kerb mark on the front passenger wheel, which could be easily touched up.

The tyres are a matching set of Goodyear Eagle F1s, which all have plenty of tread remaining.

Please take the time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres, so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The bodywork on the 650i is in excellent condition, with no dings or dents spotted. The panel gaps appear to be equal.

Closing the doors is a real treat which you will come to love! With the lightest pull to one click, the door then shuts itself using BMW's luxurious soft close function.

image

Paint

Finished in the stunning Tiefseeblau Metallic, the paintwork is in excellent condition, having only covered ~43,363 miles. There are some very, very minor light scratches that could likely be easily polished out by a paint correction specialist and would show the Tiefseeblau Metallic colour at its best.

The panel that lifts to store the roof does have some slight bubbling around the edge. We must say this is difficult to see and is really light. It is also common to see on the 6-Series.

The images are taken from a range of angles to show the car as you would see it in person, so please take the time to fully assess the high-resolution photos and videos before forming your own opinion of the paintwork.

image

Glass and Trim

All of the windows are in good condition, with no noticeable or excessive scratches, and are working correctly.

The fabric roof is in great condition, with no damage. This operates its full cycle in the designated time, going down and up with the press of a button.

The front and rear light lenses are in good order, with no damage to the lenses.

Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

image

Interior

With all the creature comforts you could ask for, the 650i is a very nice place to be.

Seats and Carpets

The seats are covered in soft Ivory White Nappa leather, which is in excellent condition. The front seats are fully electric and heated, and have a memory function.

The door cards are two-tone: leather matching the seats is beautifully contrasted with a black leather cap to match the dashboard; they are free from damage.

The cream carpets are clean and tidy. There is a set of cream mats fitted, which are also in good order. A set of all-weather rubber mats is included for the wetter months.

image

Dashboard

The leather-topped dashboard is in excellent condition, with no damage spotted. The Black Ash trim is all in good order, with no damage.

The instruments are working correctly, with no warning lights displayed, and the odometer shows just ~43,363 miles have been covered.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather, heated steering wheel shows minimal signs of use. This is fully electrically adjustable to get the perfect driving position.

All the buttons are in good condition, with no signs of age. Factory paddle shifters are also fitted.

The gear selector is in good condition, with no signs of heavy wear.

image

Mechanics

4.4-litre twin-turbo V8! How much more engine could you possibly need?

Engine and Gearbox

With the push of a button, the twin-turbo V8 comes to life, and its distinct V8 rumble sounds fantastic. The engine runs smoothly and has no issues, according to John.

It's coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which changes smoothly when left to its own devices, or - for a more spirited drive - you can use the paddle shifters.

image

Suspension and Brakes

On the road, the ride in the 650i is smooth, with no unwanted noises coming from any corner of the car. The suspension stiffens slightly when put into Sport mode, reducing body roll.

The brake discs look to be in good condition, with no excessive signs of wear. These bring the car to a stop in a straight line, with no juddering through the pedal.

image

The Drive

Effortlessly combining performance with long-distance comfort, the refined grand tourer is powered by a super-smooth and muscular 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, producing ~400bhp and ~443lb-ft of torque. It delivers strong acceleration and effortless overtaking performance, while the well-tuned suspension provides a composed and comfortable ride.

Whether cruising on the motorway with the roof down in convertible form or enjoying a winding B-road, it offers a luxurious and engaging driving experience that perfectly balances performance, comfort, and sophistication.

image

Electrics and Other

With a great choice of options, the BMW is still ahead of its time even today.

Head-up display, heated steering wheel, electrically adjustable steering column, electric seats, heated seats, folding mirrors, auto-dimming mirrors, cruise control, dual air conditioning, satellite navigation, soft-close doors, and illuminated door handles are just some of the expensive options chosen.

image

History and Paperwork

Coming with well documented service history, this BMW also benefits from an extended warranty, which can be transferred to the new owner.

What a superb luxury grand touring convertible. With an extensive options package, low mileage, low ownership, and an extended warranty that can be transferred and renewed when the time comes (on 17.04.2027), this is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a well-cared-for BMW.

The service history for this 650i SE is excellent: the last service was carried out at 43,186 miles, just under 200 miles ago. The owner's manuals are present, along with two keys.

The private registration plate comes with the car.

We’ve carried out our usual seller checks, including photo ID and V5 verification, as well as a history check on the vehicle. This is a professional HPI check that will highlight if the car has previously been stolen, recorded as being involved in an accident or has any outstanding finance. Please note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We’ve summarised our own view of the car based on information provided by the seller; however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video each car in high-resolution detail so you can make your own assessment from the comfort of your home. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time reviewing everything in this listing.

Viewings are also welcomed on all our listings. Please get in touch to arrange a suitable time; we just need to speak to you first and receive valid photo ID before confirming.

If there’s anything you’re unsure about, no matter how small, please ask the owner in the comments section before placing your bids, as bids cannot be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car, just like at a traditional auction house.

Hi, has the BMW N63 Customer Care Package been carried out on the car, and is there documentary proof?

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
