Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

Cadillac dropped a huge supercharged V8 into their mid level saloon to compete with the likes of the BMW M3 and Audi RS4.

Introduced in 2003 the CTS (Catera Touring Sedan) was the first Cadillac to be offered with a manual gearbox since 1988, becoming a more driver centric option. The following year a high performance variant was unveiled; the CTS-V, equipped with a 5.7L V8, beefed up suspension and brakes from Brembo. In 2008 the second generation took the engine and upgraded it to a 6.2L supercharged version, and in 2009 the CTS-V set a production sedan record of 7:59.32 at the Nurburgring, this is a seriously quick car.

The specific car is a 2011 "Black Diamond Edition", it has a 6.2L V8 under the bonnet producing ~556BHP. The special edition CTS-V features beautiful "SpectraFlair" black paint with aluminium flecks in it to really make it shine, "Graphite" wheels with yellow brake calipers, Recaro seats and Bose sound system. This CTS-V comes to market after ~1.5 year ownership, covering under ~2,000 miles in this time. It was originally sold in Dubai and imported to the UK in April 2021.

This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Steve the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I've never seen another one in the UK, they're rare even in the US.

Steve has always had a soft spot for the CTS-V, after seeing them whilst visiting the US and having a go in one, he loves the rarity of the car. He told us it is "ridiculously fast, ~556BHP is some serious power" but it is just as happy pootling along under the radar.

The car is completely standard in Gulf Market spec as the car was imported from Dubai in 2021 Steve told us. He has converted the headlights for the UK and changed the rear shock absorbers, it has been through two MOTs in his ownership. Steve has around 26 vehicles, and so is selling a few to slim down his collection. He will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

The angular body, triple black specification gives the CTS-V a very aggressive look, to go with its power.

Wheels and Tyres

The original Cadillac wheels are finished in "Graphite" as part of the Black Diamond Edition specification and looked in good condition, we did notice the odd chip on some of the wheels but nothing major.

The CTS-V has a matching set of Invo high performance tyres, they are all dated 2019, and didn't show any cracking or other damage. The front tyres were flagged up as an advisory, Steve has said he will have them replaced should the car sell on auction. Please have a look at the photos and video below to asses the condition of the wheels and tyres for yourself.

Bodywork

The bodywork around the car looked in great shape, all panels and shut lines look good. We didn't notice any dents on any panels however we did notice a few scuffs; one on the bottom of the front bumper, a small stone chip on the bonnet, a slight scrape on the left side of the rear bumper and a small mark on the passenger side quarter panel.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The metallic "SpectraFlair" triple layer paint looked lovely, with plenty of metal flek shining bright, hence the "diamond" naming to this special edition. As mentioned above there were a few small marks in the paint.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

Glass around the car looked in great shape, we didn't notice any chips or cracks in any of it. Steve had the headlights replaced for UK spec ones, coming at a cost of ~£3,000.

The chrome trim also looked in great condition, we didn't notice any pitting or other damage on any of it. Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

Interior

Inside the cabin you'll find Recaro leather/synthetic suede seats, a great pairing to this supercharged coupe.

Seats and Carpets

The lovely electric adjustable and heated sports seats from Recaro are covered in half black leather and half tan synthetic suede and looked in great shape, with no rips or tears noticed, we only notice slight creases in the leather a slight sign of its age.

The carpets also looked in great condition, we couldn't see any stains on them. Please take a look at the photos and video below to decide on the condition of the seats and carpets for yourself.

Dashboard

The dash is trimmed in a matching style to the seats, the door cars also featuring tan synthetic suede inserts on them, and the Black Diamond Edition came with "Midnight Sapele" wood trim.

Contrasting yellow stitching to match the seats was present on the dashboard, a lovely touch.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

With controls for cruise control and radio/phone on the top two prongs and a V logo on the bottom, the steering wheel looked in ok shape, it could maybe do with a quick detail to the material to bring it up a level.

The automatic gear selector also looked to be in good condition, also having the V logo on top. Please take a look at the photos and video below to check the condition of the steering wheel and gear stick for yourself.

Mechanics

A 6.2L supercharged V8 in a tidy coupe package with magnetic ride controlled suspension, this set-up on this car is more than capable of competing with its European counterparts.

Engine and Gearbox

The supercharged 6.2L V8 growled into life on first attempt, it sounded great. On the road with Steve it felt like it had plenty of power underfoot. The gearbox felt good too, with shifts being quick. We didn't notice any unwanted noises from either the engine or gearbox.

Please take a look at the cold start video below to see for yourself the performance of the engine and gearbox.

Suspension and Brakes

The CTS-V suspension felt compliant with the road, not too stiff. The car features huge 6-pot Brembo brakes at the front inside its yellow callipers.

Please take a look at the on the road video below to see how the suspension and brakes performed.

The Drive

On our quick drive with Steve the CTS-V felt great, lots of power from the massive V8 up front with equal stopping power from the 6-pot callipers.

The gearbox moved up and down with ease and the suspension was firm but rode bumps well. To see the car in motion please take a look at the on the road video below.

Electrics and Other

We didn't have a chance to test all electric, however the clock and windows were working and Steve told us everything else was working as expected. The car is fitted with the factory infotainment system that includes Bose speakers, and the car has electric adjustable and heated seats.

History and Paperwork

Barnstorming power from the supercharged 6.2L supercharged V8 is matched by the 6-pot calliper brakes, this car coming to market from ~1.5 year ownership, a rare coupe special order Black Diamond Edition.

Originally sold in Dubai and serviced every year except 2014, it was imported to the UK in 2021, Steve bought the car from the garage who imported it. Steve has put the car through two MOTs, and had the headlights replaced to UK spec ones at a cost of ~£3,000 he told us, and has also had the rear shock absorbers attended to. Having a large collection of cars Steve has only covered ~2,000 miles in the Cadillac and has decided to part with it due to not using it much.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
