The Caterham 7 is a super-light (545kg) sports-car produced by Caterham. It's based on the Lotus 7 (which was only available in kit/factory-build form from Lotus from 1957 to 1972). Caterham bought the rights to the design and today offer both the Seven as a kit and fully assembled cars. There were various variations of the Seven over the years and this is the practical yet thrilling 'Roadsport' variant.

The Roadsport is the second-level offering from Caterham, with a heater, hood, spare wheel, and carpets, powered by a ~150BHP Ford Sigma 1.6L block.

This lovely low mileage example has been used sparingly over its previous ownership, finished in lively red paintwork with white racing stripes, this Super 7 is ready to race!

I love the drive on this, and being newer with the roof and heater, it adds an extra level of practicality!

Kristopher purchased this Super 7 recently from a family member. He's owned an older one before, so when this one was available he snapped at the chance to keep it in the family. It's a low mileage example, used sparingly by the previous owner too.

With a baby on the way, although the roof and heater offer practicality over the older models, it isn't quite up to the levels that he needs for family and so the car is going up for sale to purchase a bigger car. Kristopher will be happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

Exterior

Bright and vibrant livery really sets this Seven apart from anything else on the roads.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with 14" classic Caterham racing alloys, each wheel looks in great condition, in line with the age and mileage of the car. All they want is a deep clean and polish to really make them sparkle.

The wheels are wrapped in Avon ZT7's and are all dated 2020, as you would expect lots of life is left in each tyre ready for the new custodian to drive away on. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at the sporty wheels and tyres.

Bodywork

Extremely light bodywork is the main focus for the Sevens along with a lightweight steel space-frame chassis.

The condition of the bodywork is finished to a very high standard, with all the panel gaps flush and correct around the roadster.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in a lively Red with White racing stripes, this Super Seven sure does look the part. With the age and low mileage of the car, the paint appears in great condition as you would expect. The car has had some use during the winter months, all it wants is a deep clean and polish now.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks in great condition across the car, along with the trim. All the window rubbers and seals appear tight with no signs of excessive wear or degrading.

The side doors for the 7 are also present as well as the roof which appears in great condition on this Roadsport.

A snug and driver focused interior, ideal for quick shifting and tight corners.

Seats and Carpets

A hard-wearing yet sport-focused leather interior is fitted within the Seven, and looks great within this example, with no major wear and in line with the age and mileage of the car.

Dashboard

A simple and classic Caterham affair, a speedo and rev counter are the only dials you really need to time your shifts perfectly.

Kristopher reports the instruments, switches and controls are in good working order.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a sports MOMO steering wheel and steel gear shifter, the condition of both items are in great condition, and in line with the rest of the interior. Please take a look at the photos for a closer look.

Mechanics

The Ford Sigma tuned by the engineers at Caterham produces ~150BHP, and will reach 60MPH in 5 seconds, endless thrills await you!

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with a 1.6L engine, the car can reach a top speed of ~122MPH. When combined with a lightweight body, the engine delivers an immense amount of power to the rear wheels.

The car started the first time in our cold start video which we conducted for the mechanical video. We also went out on a short run on the local roads so you can see the car in action, going through the gears and navigating traffic with ease.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension setup involves a double-wishbone and anti-roll bar at the front; the de-Dion axle is located by an A-frame at the rear, where the old Classic specification had a live-axle set-up.

Kristopher reports suspension and brakes working faultlessly, mentioning a firm and sporty ride with stopping on-demand performance - just as you would expect from a modern Caterham 7.

The Drive

The Seven adds an extra level of fun to any journey. The Roadsport is a driver-focused lightweight sports car with near equal weight distribution and combined with the low center of gravity, the Caterhams party trick comes out in the corners, with the ability to stick to any surface.

Electrics and Other

Kristopher reports all the electrics, buttons, gauges etc work within the car to his knowledge.

Being a Roadsport, the car is fitted with a heater, hood, spare wheel, and carpets throughout.

Hi,

Car looks great. Does it have lowered floors? I have size 11 feet and so that might be of benefit.

Hi , i bought it from a family member who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and was selling i bought it so he had a quick sale and something else off his mind he didn’t have to deal with he had it for a few years
