Introduction

Glynn Parry
Professional Consigner and Photographer

Road presence, performance styling and an almighty V8 roar, these cars are sure to turn heads.

The 6th iteration of the Corvette, it featured a new exterior design that benefitted from an increased wheelbase, but actually a smaller more nimble package overall in terms of length and width. The designers also managed to increase the cabin space, and importantly the C6 first featured a new LS2 V8 outputting ~400BHP.

The car comes to market from ~1.5 year ownership with ~50,193 on the clock and a recent 05.10.2023 showing no current advisories. The current owner is a Corvette enthusiast having owned earlier models in the past, and has upgraded several elements of the car to give it "ZR" styling, the side skirts and front splitter which gives the car more of an aggressive edge to it which definitely doesn't look out of place given the power the car produces. In addition to the upgrades and investment already put into the car, the gearbox has been serviced and a harmonic balancer replacement has also been carried out.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glynn after meeting Tom the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

This is my 3rd Corvette, all have been brilliant cars, lots of performance, noise and charisma.

Corvette's have been a big part of Tom's driving life, he's a petrolhead for sure owning motorbikes as well as sports cars, and we've previously sold his last Corvette and a lovely 964 Porsche 911 Carrera. About the C6 he tells us "Aesthetically super and loads of room for suitcases etc. so great UK and continental tourer... it's LHD of course!".

Tom spent a good deal of time and energy getting the car to the standard that he liked, after the car was imported, he sent it to a Corvette specialist for checking and servicing. Since then; new tyres, a harmonic balancer replacement and additional servicing including the gearbox has all been carried out on the C6. It's now time for this one to go "The car drives perfectly in every respect and is open to any inspection. I am selling to fund acquisition of a C7 Corvette....with a satnav!", he'll be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

Dramatic, wide arches and an impressive and aggressive road presence, this car with some choice styling upgrades.

Wheels and Tyres

The 19" Black gloss multi spoke wheels sat well on the rears with 18" wheels adorning the front of the Corvette. Often referred to as a "Staggered setup", the reason for the difference in size with this approach is to maximise straight line acceleration and aid cornering ability. Both front and rear rims were looking smart on all four corners, branded with Corvette Racing decals the rims showed very few signs of marking or curbing and presented in a great way.

Tyres are Pirelli P-Zero's fitted in the current ownership, showing their date coding from 2021 and also with a good amount of tread across these. Take a look over the exterior gallery section for a close up view of the wheels and tyres on the Corvette.

Bodywork

Looking over the car on our visit showed the panels and gaps all aligning really nicely with no real causes for concern looking over the vehicle. As the Corvette is mainly comprised of fibreglass there's very little elements of the car that show signs of rust or corrosion with the C6 sitting really nicely on the road when taking a look over the exterior.

There was a slight sign of the front nearside wheel arch trim showing a small gap from the main body, but as with the rest of the panelling, not a major issue for us. This relates to the noted damage in the Carfax report from 2009, Tom had the car stripped back and inspected by specialists "Topcats Racing" in Aylesbury who confirmed there was no structural damage to the car.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The silver base coast with updated black trim detail really stood out in a great way, suitably aggressive with its stance and overall finish, the contrasting exterior colour really looked the part. As the central black racing stripe is a vinyl covering, there are some signs of age on the vinyl itself with certain sections beginning to show slight wear on the edges of the finish.

We've taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass is all presented in great condition, with no major scratches or chips which we could see at the time of our visit. The trims and seals are the same, matching the rest of the vehicle. The added 'ZR' style front splitter does have some evidence of stone chipping on the nearside edge but nothing that was a major concern given the condition of the rest of the exterior. Stone chipping signs are also present on the front bumper and sections of the side skirts closest to the front and back wheels where you may expect some natural markings to occur from road debris flicking up from the tyres.

Take a look through the exterior gallery and review video, we take you across all the areas of the car as if you were standing there for yourself. This way, you can see in greater detail what a great looking vehicle the Corvette really is.

Interior

Supportive, comfortable seating, the C6 was an improvement on the previous model, the targa top giving the best of both worlds.

Seats and Carpets

Light grey heated leather seats look in great condition in the cabin, holding the driver and passenger comfortably in position for the journey ahead. The leathers presented well with no rips or tears evident on either of the seats.

The black carpets and mats also looked in good condition, a quick clean would smarten them up further. View the gallery to see the detail.

Dashboard

Presented without cracks, splits or blemishes, the dashboard looks excellent alongside the rest of the interior. Dials and gauges all look excellent showing without fogging or issue on our visit.

The Corvette logo set into the dash in front of the passenger section is a nice detail to the interior. Head over to the interior gallery for more images of the dash area and how well this is presented.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Electronically adjustable steering wheel showed in good condition, with the race inspired Corvette emblem sat proudly in the centre of the wheel. Some marks were present on the end of the handbrake lever but nothing that stood out as a major concern, the automatic gear selector looked good too.

We've detailed some more images of the cabin area including the steering wheel and components in our Interior Gallery section, head over to see more shots of what's on offer with the C6.

Mechanics

Noise, charisma, power and performance - this Corvette has a serious amount to offer petrolheads, pure American muscle.

Engine and Gearbox

The quad pipe Powerflow exhaust system sounded beautiful as the V8 LS2 engine started up. The new LS2 block that came in the C6 produced ~400BHP, more than enough for this 2 seater coupe.

The engine showed no signs of concern when we started the Corvette up or took the car out on the road. Take a look at our "Mechanical Review" video where we see the car starting up and running. Following the cold start, we take the Corvette out for a drive where you can hear the V8 C6 work its way comfortably through its paces. The gearbox was service in November 2011 at Topcats as detailed in the paperwork section.

Suspension and Brakes

Sporty red Corvette callipers finish off the brakes, a nice contrast against the gloss black multi spoke rims. Taking a look underneath the car showed as well as the rest of the Corvette looking really great overall. As to be expected with any exposure to the elements, a few spots of rust were on some of the bolts, but overall looking excellent on the underside of the car.

We noted no issues with the suspension and how they car behaved or performed whilst going through its paces out on the road, with the mechanical components working as to be expected. Equally, brakes performed well, stopping as required when we needed them to. Take a look at our "On the Road" video to see in real time how the car responds to the road and driving.

The Drive

A Corvette is a really rare sight on the UK roads, LHD American muscle cars don't come round very often and when they do, only a few look as good as this does. The C6 is fast enough to seriously increase the heart rate but comfortable enough to let you enjoy a daily journey without concern.

With a meaty 6.0L V8 engine it's safe to say the drive won't be one that's tame, that said, the Corvette is equally at home taking a cruise as a tourer, with a respectable amount of room for a suitcase or two, as it is practising your 0-60 times with road safety in mind.

Electrics and Other

Keyless start function whilst sat inside the cabin area started the car without any issue, also featured in the cabin is the radio system, Bose speakers, climate control, cruise control and heated seats which worked without concern.

A couple of notes from Tom; he thinks the odometer may have been changed when the car was in America, as the Carfax report shows a higher last reading, this may have been incorrectly registered though. Also, a common niggle with these Corvettes, the air bag light can come on on the odd occasion, but moving the electrically controlled seat removes the warning light.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~1.5 year ownership, this car has been owned by a Corvette enthusiast, and was imported to the UK in 2018.

The Corvette was last serviced in October/November last year, with oil and oil filter, coolant, plugs, air filter, gearbox oil and filter and AC re-gassed as part of the servicing. You may see that as part of the V5 form in the paperwork section, that the C6 was "Rebuilt-assembled from parts some or all of which were not new" - after the previous owner consulted the DVLA, confirmation was returned on the Corvette that, "The rebuilt marker is held on record due to the American registration certificate used to register the vehicle in the UK showed the vehicle was salvage and rebuilt". The safety result of this was that, "The vehicle did go through an IVA (Individual Vehicle Approval), and was deemed safe and was of original enough state to warrant an age related plate to be issued upon its registration in the UK".

Tom, the current owner, went one step further with this to verify the safety of the car, checking CARFAX (an American service not dissimilar to HPi) that confirmed the car had had accident damage in 2009 to the front left hand corner. On close inspection it was seen that the cradle carrying the radiator had been damaged and not repaired correctly, but thankfully no structural damage had affected the car. However, to be sure the car was free from issue it was sent to "Topcats Racing" in Westcott near Aylesbury, who are Corvette specialists. The front of the car was stripped back, checked and the cradle removed and repaired properly. At the same time car was fully checked over and serviced at the same time to make sure the car presented no issues, as a result, the recent MOT conducted on the Corvette from the UK has shown no issues or advisories.

The eagle eyed among you may note the Corvette logo located within a skull emblem on the side pillars of the cars exterior, the history behind this goes back to 2004 where one of Corvette Racing's truck drivers, Don Male, asked the team boss, Doug Fehan, about putting a skull sticker on one of the cars. Fehan liked the idea and gave the go ahead, and, as luck would have it, the car won the race.

Please note, the personalised plates would not be included as part of the final sale so would be reverted back to its original registration details.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
