Introduction
Ashley Dawson
Few cars blend compact proportions with true luxury quite like the Daimler V8 250.
Based on the celebrated Jaguar Mk2 shape but fitted with Daimler’s own silky 2.5-litre V8, the V8 250 offered something subtly different, smoother, more refined, and unmistakably dignified.
Coming to market after almost 22 years with our vendor, this 1969 example presents beautifully in a rich deep red, paired with a traditional wood and leather interior that perfectly suits the era. It’s a car that looks just as at home at a classic meet as it does gliding along a country road.
For peace of mind, the Daimler comes with a current MOT valid until 01/09/2026, even though it is MOT and road tax exempt.
This listing was written from information supplied by Ashley after meeting Richard the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

David
Nice to meet you appreciate the comments
Hi Richard,
Minor question, the car appears to have a period radio but no antennae?
Hi, the radio is working but we tried this with a hidden antenna in the engine bay but it didn’t work. It really needs one drilling in the body work but didn’t want to do this.
Hi Richard,
Have just scrolled down and found previous answers to my questions!
Regards,
Charlie.
Hi Charlie glad you found the answers yes to power steering there is three small marks under the paint on the roof above the drivers door but they have been there for years it’s not rust likes like some reaction when it was sprayed but we never picked it up at the time ref the smoke think the cause is or was a stuck oil control ring on one of the pistons due to the car never being used for years we took it round the block to warm the engine up to temperature and put it back in to mot and it went straight through we have done so much to the car it just wants using to be honest no car likes to be stood still many thanks Richard
Hi Richard,
I notice from the MOT in September 2025 that the FAIL was, “Exhaust emits excessive dense blue smoke during acceleration (8.2.1.2 (g))”
What was the repair to get it passed?
Regards,
Charlie.
Hi Richard,
Does your car have power steering?
What are the paint problems on the roof please?
Thanks,
Charlie.
Richard
Great looking car.
Would it be possible to come and have a look at the car?
Thanks
David
The car looks like a real job to be proud of, very attractive, I just have a concern about the Webasto/Britax type sunroof. I would want to tour in the car, is the sunroof noisy when closed at mororway speeds? Thanks a lot.
Hi Krut the answer to your question is is we have never been on a long journey in the car we have taken the car out on a few road tests and there is a bit of wind noise in the cabin but I think it’s more from the doors than the roof it is a 57 years old l think it is a good as it can be with all new door seals and the roof was all completely replaced as well with all new seals many thanks Richard
Hi, is there a history file with the car that has all the invoices for parts and services completed throughout the extension restoration works. Thanks
Hi Dann we do have a few invoices i think but it was never really of intrest to sell so never really kept every invoice ? we tried add what we had spent on parts for the car we were over 15k plus just quicky adding it up with no labour costs included. The chrome ,wiring loom, seats, webasto roof, respray , hubs, brakes, seals handles, lights, suspension, rubbers ,engine, gearbox, axle .the list goes on all have had work .And any one who knows these car will understand the work and money to get it to this condition . hopefully looking at the pictures you can see the car is as clean under side as on top thanks Richard
Thanks for the reply Richard, thats fair enough
Are we only replying to people that want to view?

Hi
Richard
The oil pressure seems quite low, is there any reason for this.
Hi Jim oil pressure are normally quite low on the Daimler’s the engine has had full rebuild all on standard bores and crank including heads skimmed and all new gaskets new pipes and pumps and carburettor’s rebuilt . to be honest the engine is barely run in .
Thanks for your reply. Just one more question. The last MOT shows a first failure due to blue smoke. Was this just a carb set up issue.
Regards
Jim
Hi to be honest the car has been in dry storage since we have owned it the engine was rebuild 12 plus years ago and was in lovely condition on strip down with everything checked over pistons con rods with new rings and crank with new shells and bearings being done inc all the heads and carburettors rebuilt on deciding to sell the car we really wanted it to have an mot to have everything checked over we drove the car for mot the chap at the garage seemed to think we might have a stuck oil control ring we took the car on a short run and he redid the emissions with no problems . I don’t feel the car has even been run in I think we have done less than 200 miles in 12 years thanks Richard
Hi Richard is it possible to view the car ? Many thanks Tony
