Introduction

Alan Stuart
Professional Consigner

Moving into the new era of Ferrari, the 360 Modena offered a more aerodynamic body mounted to an all new aluminium space frame chassis.

A two-seater supercar with mid-engined V8 power, rear-wheel-drive and a newly designed all aluminium chassis, this was a leap forward for Ferrari. 40% stiffer than the steel chassis used in its predecessor, the 355, the body was also more aerodynamic in design, with the new curves replacing the sharp lines of the 80’s. Supplied with either a 6 speed manual or alternatively like this particular example, a 6-speed semi automatic F1 gear change.

This example has to be one of the best examples out there. Just one former keeper, and coming to market from 21 year ownership, it's covered just under ~11,000 miles, and has been maintained regardless of mileage and cost. Most recently serviced in April with the timing belts replaced, this car is very much ready for the new owner.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Stevie the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

In 1999 I spotted the Ferrari for sale and instantly fell in love with it, the test drive cemented this feeling, which is still there today.

Stevie is just the second owner of this stunning low mileage 360, which she has owned for the past 21 years. Purchased after spotting it for sale, it was an instant connection, one test drive and she had to have it. The condition of the car is stunning, with an extensive history, and a nicely fully stamped service book, the Ferrari has wanted for nothing in it’s life.

Stevie tells us she is definitely going miss the 360, and it's a decision that's been put off for a number of years. However, with sixteen and thirteen year old children, school fees, running around like a taxi every evening and the onset of a learner driver in the family, it is very sadly time to change car strategy.

Stevie will be more than happy to answer any questions you have in the comments below.

Exterior

With a completely new Pininfarina design, the 360 moved away from the sharp lines and pop up headlights in favour of the more curvy and aerodynamic design.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the original 5 spoke alloy wheels, all of which look to be in excellent condition, including the centre caps.

The tyres are Michelin and have been replaced not so many miles ago, and are therefore in excellent condition. Please see more images of the wheels in the exterior gallery.

Bodywork

With less than ~11,000 miles on the car, as you would expect, the bodywork is in excellent shape. The panels and shut lines look to align just as Ferrari intended, and there are no dings or dents which we could see. There is a small blister to mention, just above the offside indicator.

Please take the time to look through the hi-resolution images we have taken for a more detailed look at the stunning exterior of the 360 Modena.

Paint

Some say a Ferrari can only be in red, it definitely looks right on this stunning coupe. There are some very light swirl marks which could be easily removed by a detailer, and there are a couple of stone chips to mention, the only things to detract from the beautiful finish and colour of the paint.

It was a very bright and sunny day when we photographed the car, you'll see some sun glare in pictures, not to be mistaken for imperfections in the beautiful paint.

The images taken are from various angles and reflections showing off the wonderful lines of the Ferrari at its best, as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition of the exterior.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks to be in good condition, with no obvious scratches to mention, and the lights are in good order to the front and rear, with no splits in the lenses.

In coupe form, the rear window lets you gaze through to the mid-engined V8, marvel it all its glory. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a more detailed look at the exterior.

Interior

Sitting comfortably in the cream leather seats, the rev counter takes centre stage and the F1 inspired gear changers behind the steering wheel.

Seats and Carpets

The Italian cream leather with red stitching to match the exterior, a luxurious finish and in excellent condition. With minimal wear to the bolsters thanks to the low miles of this Ferrari, and the same can be said for the matching door cards.

You get the red carpet treatment in the 360 Modena, they have a nice deep pile and are in excellent condition as pictured.

Dashboard

Finished in black and cream leather, with the contrasting red stitching continuing, there is no damage that we could see to the dashboard. The only thing to mention is that the leather looks to have come unstuck on the top, which has left some raised areas in the leather as pictured.

The instruments are reported to be working as they should with no warning lights displayed with the engine running.

Please see the interior gallery for more hi-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather steering wheel is in excellent order with no obvious signs of wear, and the paddle shifters are working as they should. There is some light wear to the edges of the shifters.

Please see the interior gallery for more hi-resolution images of the interior.

Mechanics

Peering through the glass display cabinet, otherwise known as the rear window, the powerhouse of the 360 takes centre stage.

Engine and Gearbox

400BHP at 8,500RPM and 0-60MPH in 4.3 seconds, yes that should be enough to keep you entertained. The engine, as you can see from our on the road video, starts up as you would expect from cold with no issues. Stevie has ensured that the car has always been regularly serviced, even though it has not been covering many miles, with the most recent service in April having the timing belts replaced.

The gearbox in the car is the silky smooth, 6-speed F1 automated manual shift. With the flick of a paddle the car effortlessly changes up or down the gears.

Suspension and Brakes

Looking at the suspension and taking a ride in the car, there doesn’t appear to be any issues to mention here. The brakes appear to be in very good condition, with no lip on the edge of the disc, and plenty of material left on the pads.

Watch the on the road video to see the car in action.

The Drive

Even though Stevie has owned the car for over 20 years, she has not covered many miles, but one thing for sure is that every mile covered has been an enjoyable one.

The car pulls smoothly through the gears and the ride feels firm and stable. The 360 Modena is happy at high speed, or equally as happy, if not a little bit more, flying through the twisty B roads.

Electrics and Other

Quite a common issue on many Italian cars is with the coating on the switchgear developing a sticky finish with age. You will be glad to know that Stevie has had 27 interior parts, which were suffering from this, replaced, at a cost of over ~£1000, and everything is working as it should.

Please see the high quality images of the switchgear inside the Ferrari.

History and Paperwork

Just one former keeper, full service history, ~11,000 miles recorded, this UK car serviced in April (including timing belts) is very much the collectors item.

Clearly a very cherished car by Stevie, who has maintained the 360 exceptionally well. The most recent service was carried out on 13th April 2021. During the service it received brake fluid flush, timing belts, PAS belt, air conditioning belt, and spark plugs, coming in at £4,703.28. This is a nice bonus for whoever will be the lucky winner of this stunning, one former keeper, low mileage Ferrari.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned an HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
