Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

One thrilling and refined Italian supercar, a new aerodynamic body and planted mid-engined 3.6L V8.

The 360 Modena is a breathtaking supercar, powered by a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 3.6L V8 coupled to the desirable six-speed gated manual transmission. The car produces 400BHP at 8,500RPM which drives the rear wheels, it's the ideal car for getting away in this summer. Production of these cars began in 1999, until 2005 when it was replaced by the F430. Ferrari partnered with Alcoa to produce a new all-aluminum space-frame chassis, which was 40% stiffer than the F355.

This example currently showing ~68,200 miles from new, is coming out of 16 years ownership and a fresh service including belts at the Ferrari main dealer. Just 4 former keepers, and in its coupe form with the open-gated 6 speed manual gearbox, it's a proper drivers car.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Gyln after meeting Simon the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

A car that's designed to be driven, I've had some pretty awesome trips in the Modena.

After coming across this manual coupe 360 Modena, Simon couldn't resist acquiring it to use as a weekend toy. It's served as a great car to get away for long weekends for the past 16 years.

Since moving out to Thailand full time, Simon has not been using the car as it really deserves to be used, and so it's now coming up for auction with us. He's recently had the car treated to a full service with Ferrari and its second belt change, along with putting a fresh MOT on for the new owner. Simon will be more than happy to answer any of your questions in the comments below.

Exterior

Aerodynamics were a key factor in the design of the 360 Modena, a totally new design from Ferrari.

Wheels and Tyres

This Italian supercar is equipped with 18-inch five spoke alloys wrapped in a full set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres (2009 at the front, 2013 at the rear).

The alloy wheels appear in excellent condition and look great on this 360. The rubber is beginning to show signs of wear, with some minor cracking on the sidewalls, yet have plenty of tread for use this summer. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at the 360.

Bodywork

The aerodynamics on the car were a major factor of the design, and Pininfarina flared off from their traditional boxy '80s looks to a modern sleek curvaceous exterior.

Generally, the exterior of the car looks very good, shut lines and panel gaps as you'd expect. One exception to this is the near side front bumper that needs adjustments to sit tighter. When we got really close, we did notice some small areas of corrosion in the bodywork. A small area around the badge on the bonnet, under the wing mirror brackets, and at the top of the passenger side door. Take a look through the video and photo media to see all the detail.

Paint

Finished in a stunning silver with colour matching rear grille, the car really looks the part. The overall finish of the paint has good lustre to it, with the colour looking even across all the panels. Please take a look at the detailed videos for a closer look at the exterior.

There are a few marks across the car, with it being an example that has been used over time. These are as follows; some areas around the edges of the sills and aerodynamic scoops along with some small stone-chips to the front, a small area of lacquer peel on the front bonnet and at the bottom of the door jams both sides, some scuffs to both mirrors, and a small mark on the rear spoiler.

Glass and Trim

All in great condition across the car. The trim and glass look the part and all have the original registration number etched into the corner of each glass panel.

Please take a look at the photos and videos for a more detailed view of the exterior.

Interior

A sports car with the chrome manual gear shifter taking centre stage, a luxurious interior that's an experience to sit in.

Seats and Carpets

The seats look really good and in line with the age and use of this sports car. Some signs of wear in the usual places and the driver's bolsters have been repaired to a good standard in the past, having been well blended with the rest of the interior.

The carpets inside the cabin look good with deep pile, they'd benefit from a deep clean to freshen them up. As common in all Ferrari's some of the plastic goes a little tacky after a few years and in some places that are starting to show, however overall the cabin still gives you that Ferrari experience.

Dashboard

All in great condition and Simon reports all the gauges and dials are working exactly as you would expect in a car of this caliber. When watching the video review, you'll see some wear to areas like the key ignition, and other areas that have seen use over the ~68,000 miles this car has covered.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The 3-spoke Ferrari steering wheel wrapped in leather looks great within this interior, a little bit of wear is starting to show on the top of the wheel.

The gear stick is showing its age, with the lacquer peel starting to come off the knob and some wear is starting to show on the leather hand brake. Please take a look at the photos for a detailed view of the interior.

Mechanics

400BHP on tap, thanks to the larger 3,586CC engine and improvements in the combustion chambers.

Engine and Gearbox

The 360 Modena is powered by a 90-degree V8 engine mounted longitudinally in the Chassis. It's a 3,586cc unit that produces 400BHP at 8,500RPM, very impressive for a road car.

The engine is made from aluminum and has Nikasil liners with titanium connecting rods with a compression ratio of 11.0:1. And all importantly coupled to the six-speed manual transmission which Peter reports changes gear smoothly and precisely with little effort.

Watch our cold start video to see the 360 starting from cold with no issues. Simon had the car serviced by a Ferrari main dealer in preparation for sale, the service including cam-belt changes etc.

Suspension and Brakes

The Ferrari was fitted with pillar venting brakes and stiff performance-focused suspension for track and road use.

Both appear in great condition and Peter reports the suspension offers great performance as well as the on-demand stopping from the brakes.

The Drive

The 360 is reported to be very stable and confidence-inspiring drive, even on a high-speed run down the autobahn. While high-speed straights can be a lot of fun, the 360 really comes alive down winding country roads, perfect for use this summer.

Electrics and Other

The 360 is fitted with an aftermarket DAB Kenwood stereo with hands-free phone connectivity. Simon reports all the other electrics on the car are working exactly as they should with no issues to report.

History and Paperwork

A superb analog mid-engined supercar that offers an immense driving experience, the open-gated manual gearbox becoming a rarer sight.

Simon has owned this 360 for over 16 years now. He's used the car as intended, but more recently having moved abroad the car has seen limited use. A fresh service by Ferrari has been actioned so the next owner can start enjoying the car from the get go. Printed service history of the Ferrari 360 Modena by Carrs Ferrari and Maserati dealer shows the following work has been carried out.

2008 - Ball joints, tyres, door lock, cambelt and bonnet cable.

2009 - New alternator, repair to the gearbox, main dealer service.

2014 - Alarm repaired. - It now has a Clifford alarm system fitted.

2018 - Main dealer-scheduled service.

2019 - Radio and start motor repaired.

2021 - Fresh MOT and it's 2nd Belt service.

Simon will be more than happy to answer any of your questions in the comments below. Please note, the private registration will not be sold with the car.

We've actioned checks on; Seller ID, V5, HPi.

Yes, there were further oil changes. I do not have all the documentation with me but oil changes were on average every 18-24 months. The car has been driven every year since original purchase, it has not just been sat there. While I have been overseas my uncle has driven and maintained the car. If the car doesnt sell I will list again with a much fuller set of documentation.

2009 is when I left for Thailand the car was garaged and MOT’d virtually every year throughout the period, just not with Carrs Ferrari Exeter. I also drove the car about twice annually and may have insurance/MOT to prove this. I have included only service, MOT list from Carrs Ferrari in the sale details although there were a lot of MOT and work carried out locally in Cornwall (where the vehicle was at the time) for that period.

Good afternoon.
There is a 9 year gap in the service record between 2009 and 2018. Please advise.
