Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

A modern-era supercar with F1 technology - a fantastic opportunity into Ferrari ownership.

The 360 Modena is a breath-taking supercar, powered by a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 3.6L V8 coupled to the desirable six-speed gated automated-manual transmission - the car produces 400 BHP at 8,500 RPM, which drives the rear wheels.

Production of these cars began in 1999, until 2005 when it was replaced by the F430. Ferrari partnered with Alcoa to produce a new all-aluminium space-frame chassis, which was 40% stiffer than the F355.

This example comes to auction with just over ~70,000 miles covered and has the revolutionary seamless-shifting, race-inspired F1 gearbox - the car comes fresh to market from an enthusiast that has set a low reserve ensuring it finds a new custodian.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Sam the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Purchased to drive the NC500, the 360 didn’t disappoint and I've loved owning it.

Already owning an older Ferrari, Sam wanted a newer model to drive the NC500. The 360 Modena F1, which is predominantly SMG automatic with the option to use the paddles when needed, ticked all the boxes for the trip, which was thoroughly enjoyed.

12 months on, Sam has decided to part with the Ferrari, having completed his trip it was purchased for, and a few others within his ownership - Sam tells us, "it’s now time for someone else to have the pleasure of this beautiful Ferrari".

Sam will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

A sleek-looking machine which just gets better with age.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the factory five-spoke alloys, which are all in good condition, there is some light signs of corrosion under the powder coating in places and also behind the prancing horse centre caps, but these could quite easily be refurbished by your local wheel refurbisher if desired.

The wheels are shod with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5’s on each corner that have a good amount of tread remaining.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

Bodywork

Walking around the Ferrari, the bodywork appears to be in good order, with visually equal panel gaps and major no dings or dents that were spotted.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in the lovely 'Argento Nurburgring', the paintwork is generally well for a 26-year-old. There are some stone chips mainly noted on the front bumper and bonnet, and a couple of minor scratches which have accumulated over the years, all of which look in keeping with the age of the car.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

All of the windows appear to be in excellent condition, with no noticeable scratches, other than a few age-related marks.

The headlights have started to discolour slightly, but these could easily be brought back to life with one of the DIY kits available from most car accessory shops.

Please view the photos and video below to review the condition of the glass and trim for yourself.

Interior

Like a fine wine, the 'Bordeaux' leather is a fantastic choice for the Ferrari.

Seats and Carpets

The 'Bordeaux' leather-trimmed, electric seats are in very good condition, there is a small amount of colour wear to the bolsters as you would tend to expect for the age.

Fitted with black carpets, these are in good condition with no real signs of heavy wear and tear. There is a set of fitted mats, both in good condition.

Inside the boot the toolkit bag is in place, but there are some tools missing from the set.

Dashboard

The black leather dashboard appears to be in good condition, with no scuffs or damage noted.

The instruments are working correctly with no warning lights displayed when we visited the Ferrari.

The odometer shows ~71,389 miles have been enjoyed in this modern-era Ferrari, at the time of our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The black leather steering wheel is in good condition with minimal signs of excessive use for its age.

With the option of leaving the car in automatic, or you could use the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for a more spirited drive.

Mechanics

At the heart of the Ferrari is the fantastic 3.6-litre V8, nicely on display through the rear window.

Engine and Gearbox

Producing ~400bhp the V8 engine is mounted 90-degrees longitudinally in the all-aluminium space frame chassis of the 360.

This fires up without hesitation, sounds fantastic and runs with no issues reported; it really is a jump in and drive supercar.

Revolutionary at the time, the F1-inspired gearbox has a seamless shift which feels like a manual but performed by a robot, allowing you to fully concentrate and guiding this V8 missile exactly where you point it.

Suspension and Brakes

As you would expect for a supercar, the ride is firm without being too crashy, and it handles superbly with no knocks or bangs coming from either corner of the car.

Stopping the car is also excellent, as you would expect, thanks to drilled discs on each corner; the fronts in particular were replaced in 2023, as seen in the paperwork. The Ferrari comes to a stop in a straight line, with no juddering through the pedal or issues reported by Sam.

Please take a look at the On The Road video below to see how the suspension and brakes performed.

The Drive

If you are looking to capture the experience of a 2000s supercar character, then look no further than the 360 Modena F1. Using the technology tried and tested in F1 cars, the gearbox was revolutionary in a road-going car and still doesn’t disappoint.

Push the accelerator and go! Listen to that wonderful V8 sing all the way to 8,500 rpm, with super-sharp precision steering, the light aluminium chassis feels well-balanced, providing a very rewarding drive.

To see and hear the 360 Modena in motion, please take a look at the on the road video.

Electrics and Other

Inside the Ferrari, the switchgear is said to be working correctly, Sam told us the air conditioning is icy cold.

There are some areas that have suffered from the typical “sticky plastic", which seems to be present on many Italian cars of this age. However, there are specialists out there who can repair these parts and have them look like new, should you wish to take that route, but it's not necessary.

History and Paperwork

A well-maintained example, backed by invoices showing services and parts purchased.

The Ferrari comes complete with the owner's manual pack, along with two keys, the two black key fobs and the red key fob. Alongside this is the stamped service book, previous invoices and MOT certificates.

What a fantastic summer the next lucky keeper is going to have in this well-maintained, very usable Ferrari 360 Modena F1.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
