Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

Ferrari collaborated with Alcoa to create the 40% stiffer, 28% lighter all-aluminum chassis of the 360 Modena, resulting in a thrilling supercar with Pininfarina styling.

The Ferrari 360 Modena is a stunning supercar, featuring a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 3.6L V8 engine paired with the coveted F1 transmission with paddle shift. This powerhouse delivers ~395BHP at 8,500RPM, propelling the rear wheels and achieving an impressive 0-60 time in just ~4.6 seconds.

Production of these iconic cars commenced in 1999 and continued until 2005 when it was succeeded by the F430. Ferrari collaborated with Alcoa on the Modena to craft a brand-new all-aluminum space-frame chassis. This design was not only 40% stiffer but also 28% lighter, despite a 10% increase in overall dimensions, compared to its predecessor, the F355.

With fewer than ~40,000 miles on the clock, this 360 boasts a history of ~9 years of ownership and has had 8 former keepers. It received its most recent service fewer than ~400 miles ago, including a cam and aux belt change, as well as an oil and air filter replacement; all performed by a Ferrari specialist. The service history of this car is impressive, with 19 out of a possible 21 services documented in its logbook.

Presented in an attractive Rosso Corsa over Crema colourway, it retains its original specification, adding to its overall appeal.

This listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Robin the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Simply one of the best cars I've ever driven - seriously quick, a great deal of fun and such a powerful machine.

The current owner has cherished this car for over ~9 years and initially spent a great deal of time searching for the very best Ferrari he could find. Robin said, 'In 2014, I made the decision to achieve a lifelong ambition and purchase one of the most exclusive and desirable vehicles I could find, I chose a 360 Modena, as I personally prefer the shape of the Modena to the Spider. I still regard it as one of the most attractive designs, with beautiful looks from every angle".

With the model decided, Robin's search began - he went on to say, "I was looking for low average mileage for the mark and type, around ~30,000, along with a excellent service history. Naturally, I was seeking something in very good condition".

Over the last ~9 years, Robin has thoroughly enjoyed his ownership of the car - it has never let him down, whether on trips to Ferrari events, club meetings, family occasions, or even when showcased at local events.

The time has come for Robin to bid farewell to his Ferrari and let someone else experience the joys of ownership - Robin concluded, "It will be a somber day for me when it goes to make way for other projects, but perhaps one day, I will have another Ferrari in my garage".

Robin will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

Aerodynamics were a key factor in the design of the 360 Modena, a totally new design from Ferrari.

Wheels and Tyres

The 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, finished in silver with yellow centre caps, complement the appearance of this car beautifully. In this particular example, the condition aligns with the limited use the car has seen, as we didn't notice any obvious signs of aging or damage.

The wheels are equipped with Pirelli P Zero tires, which also appear to be in excellent condition. They are dated from 2016 on the rear and fronts from 2018, with a substantial amount of tread remaining and no visible cracking or signs of aging on the outside sidewalls.

The tire specifications show a size of 215/45 for the front and 275/40 for the rear.

Bodywork

The car sits straight with well-aligned shut lines, and we couldn't detect any visible panel distortions. Both doors, the front boot, and the rear bonnet open and close smoothly; a testament to Ferrari's typical build quality.

During our visit, we didn't notice any obvious dents on the car; everything appeared crisp, sharp, and well aligned. There were no apparent signs of corrosion that we noted.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The car boasts a vibrant Rosso Corsa Red finish, having always been garaged and regularly polished, the 360 presents very well. Overall it is in very clean condition, with of course some areas of the finish having been resprayed in the past and colour matched extremely well.

There were only a few minor blemishes to the paint, although we had to look very closely to spot these. There is minimal stone chipping on the bumper and rear edge. Additionally, protective covers have been applied towards the rear wheel arches.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The side windows, mirrors, and lenses all appear to be in excellent condition, showing no visible signs of scratching or chips on the glass.

The seals around the car appear to be well-maintained and consistent with the overall condition of the vehicle. Rubber sections on the interior edges also look good, with only a few minor signs of wear, which is to be expected with normal use. The Ferrari also features the upgraded Challenger front and rear grills as part of its specification.

The headlight covers are in great condition, with no scratches or scrapes, and the stainless steel exhaust at the rear looks fantastic.

Take a look through the gallery sections and review video, we take you across all the areas of the car as if you were standing there for yourself. This way, you can see in greater detail what a lovely looking car the 360 Modena really is.

Interior

A proper sports car, the F1 shifter gives the driver ultimate control - a classic and popular colour adorns the cabin of the Ferrari making the interior timeless.

Seats and Carpets

Finished with lovely Crema leather, the seats are in excellent condition, with the driver's seat showing just a bit of creasing and minor wear on the seat bolster. The seat backs and rear section are in very good condition, exhibiting minimal signs of wear.

A particular highlight is the Ferrari 'Prancing Horse' emblem embossed into the headrests of both the driver and passenger seats.

The full burgundy carpet sections, along with Ferrari logo mats, are in great condition in the interior. The deep pile would benefit from a thorough clean to freshen them up. Over in the boot, this area raises no concerns.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images of the Ferrari.

Dashboard

The dashboard appears to be free from any splits and cracks, presenting in excellent condition. This area of the interior is in great shape, with only minor marks observed. The black-backed clocks and dials display nicely, indicating ~39,884 miles at the time of our visit.

The presentation of this section is lovely, and all dials are fully functional, with clear displays and no obvious scratching on the facings.

It's worth noting, though, that the underside of the dashboard could benefit from a cleanup, as there are some visible marks in this area upon closer inspection. We also noticed some signs of wear on the edges of the paddle shift levers, although this wasn't a major concern.

As common in all Ferrari's, some of the plastic goes a little tacky after a few years and in some places that are starting to show.

Our interior gallery section takes you over some closer images of the 360 Modena dashboard, head over and see the car's interior in finer detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A classic Ferrari 3-spoke steering wheel, finished in black leather - it is in great condition and has maintained its appearance, aligning with the overall condition of the interior. A nice highlight is the contrasting yellow centre badge on the driver's section.

The manual gearstick shows only a few signs of age-related wear, looking in line with the car's history.

Mechanics

The naturally aspirated 3.6L V8 is capable of a 0-60 time in ~4.6 seconds and pushes out a seriously impressive ~395BHP to the rear wheels.

Engine and Gearbox

The 360 Modena is propelled by a 90-degree V8 engine mounted longitudinally in the chassis. It's a 3,586cc unit that produces ~395BHP at 8,500RPM, which is exceptionally impressive for a road car of that era.

The engine is crafted from aluminum and features Nikasil liners with titanium connecting rods. Most importantly, it's coupled to the F1 Paddle Shift transmission, which Robin reports shifts gears smoothly and precisely with minimal effort.

To fully appreciate the experience, please watch the video, where you can hear the 360 starting up from a cold state.

You'll also see the owner navigating through the paddle shift gears on the road.

Suspension and Brakes

We didn't observe any knocks, bangs, or other issues from the suspension while driving the car, and it delivered solid performance and handling. During our drive, the Ferrari felt exactly as you'd expect—powerful, responsive, and incredibly well-balanced.

The large red calliper pillar-venting Ferrari brakes effectively bring the car to a stop in a straight line, with no reported juddering felt through the pedal; they performed as expected. The stopping power and control felt reassuring and met our expectations.

For a more detailed examination, please watch the mechanical review video and inspect the close-up and underside images of the Modena.

The Drive

Exceptional driving experience and pure thrill behind the wheel of the 360 is part of the Ferrari experience. It offers comfort, poised handling, and remarkable road prowess. The car delivers ample power yet maintains composure in city driving.

Aerodynamic enhancements, weight reduction, power upgrades, and refined gearbox software have transformed Ferrari's mid-engine model into something truly exceptional.

Electrics and Other

The 360 Modena includes two original keys, along with three immobiliser fobs, plus the master red fob and a silver key with a number identifier tag. There is also a red Ferrari indoor cover with red seat covers, although the closer on the storage bag doesn't zip shut.

Additionally, it has a complete original tool kit in a leather case and the original tire inflator in its original bag. The Xenon headlights are in excellent condition. The car also comes with its maintenance charger.

Ultimately, this is a driver's car, so electronics are minimal - Robin told us that he has had no issues with the electrical elements on the car and everything works as it should.

History and Paperwork

A stunning 360 in a classic colourway, manual F1 gearbox, under ~40,000 miles covered, great service history and 19 services - this model is a beautiful 360.

With low mileage on the clock, the 360 comes from ~9 year ownership and 8 former keepers.

The 360 was last serviced fewer than ~400 miles ago and the cam belt was last changed in June 2021, so the next change isn't required until June 2024.

The MOT is covered until 23rd August 2024 and showed no advisories as part of its last checks. We cover off the full service history of the 360 in the paperwork gallery section, this includes all the paperwork and receipts noted with the Ferrari.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and actioned a HPi check on the vehicle. Should any questions be required, Robin would be happy to answer any of these in the 'ask the owner' section.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house. This is an auction on behalf of a trade seller and normal auction rules apply, i.e. there is no warranty, no return policy and bids are binding with more info in our terms and conditions.
