The front-engined, two-seater 599 GTB replaced the 575 in Ferrari's GT category. Improved aerodynamics and an aluminium chassis, the power to weight ratio is particularly impressive. The performance coming from the 6.0L engine is scintillating; 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, 0-124 in 11 and a top speed of 205mph.

This is a well cared for example, coming with a full service history from Ferrari and well known specialists, most recently serviced in July 2020 in preparation for sale.

I have loved the dynamic experience this car gives you - accelerating or cruising, it's just great!

John has owned this car for some 7 years. In that time, he has covered roughly 16,000 trouble free miles, in a mix of local and holiday use. Last year in spring, John had the car delivered (via a covered transporter) for use on his holiday destination in the south of France. He then covered the distance for his return trip in the car, a proper GT route back.

Being a fastidious owner, he has had the car serviced by marque and class specialists Rardley Motors of Grayshott. Having had the pleasure of enjoying this Ferrari, it's now time for it to leave the stable for pastures new so that John can have time to enjoy some of his other cars.

Exterior

Set in Grigio Silverstone, the stunning design of this car isn't just for the looks, clever aerodynamics increase downforce without ruining the silhouette.

Wheels and Tyres

The Italian grand tourer is equipped with 20-inch Challenge Style alloys exclusive to the 599 GTB, wrapped in a full set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres (245/35/20" Front- 305/35/30" Rear).

These have excellent tread and have covered under ~10,000 miles. The wheels are generally in good condition, there are some slight scrapes to the outer edge of the nearside wheels that can be observed in the photos from our visit. The car is equipped with a monitor to check the pressure through the on-board computer.

Bodywork

The significant revisions to the 599 over the 575 allowed for unrivalled aerodynamics in the GT category. The notable C-pillar tunnel adds a striking angle to this beautiful car, as well as directing the air around the back so that there is no need for a spoiler.

We saw no dents or rust across the external body of the car, shut lines and panel gaps were tight and correct across the entire body, a testament to the great care this car has had over the years.

Paint

The Grigio Silverstone Alloy Metallic paint (Code: 12088) really suits this model. The colour helps to show off the external features, and the characteristics change with the light too.

As you'd expect, the metallic paint finish on this car is even across all the body, and even in colour too. With the aggressive front end design, there are some stone chips that have been picked up over time, take a look at the extensive video and photo media to see all the detail.

Glass and Trim

All in excellent condition across the car. The only things of note on close inspection were; slight condensation area in the front offside headlight, both lenses of the rear fog lights on the lower underbody show signs of cracking.

During the last service at Ferrari specialists Rardley Motors Ltd, all wiper blades were cleaned and condition checked.

Interior

A sports car interior, the yellow rev counter taking centre stage, carbon fibre trim contrasted by the Rosso hide to give the car a luxurious GT feel.

Seats and Carpets

The Rosso leather seats are in excellent condition, looking sporty with their carbon fibre backs. Electric adjustment and heated memory functionality, get ready to drive away in style and comfort.

The Nero carpets add contrast to the striking red interior and are presented in a very good condition. The car features the carbon fibre driving zone.

Dashboard

All in great condition. We saw no imperfections in the cockpit, the HUD next to the Giallo tachometer works just as expected with no pixel damage.

An infotainment system includes sat nav, bluetooth and iPod capabilities. The only imperfection in the cabin we spotted is the gearbox surround in the centre console, showing its age in contrast to all of the carbon fibre trim which is excellent.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The typically stunning Ferrari 3-spoke steering wheel can also be electrically adjusted for driver preference. The F1 transmission operates through paddle-shift levers made of carbon fibre behind the wheel and will offer a scintillating experience.

Driver modes controlled by the Manettino dial and ignition button are the only controls on the wheel - the only ones you will ever need on a Ferrari. All other electric features are ergonomically placed for driver convenience.

Mechanics

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano offers a combination of touring ability and supercar performance that few cars can match.

Engine and Gearbox

Using a front-mounted variation of the 6.0L V12 that debuted in the limited-run Enzo supercar, it can produce an incredible 612BHP and reach speeds of 205mph. The engine bay looks in excellent condition, just some of the red paint flaking to note on the air intakes of that V12 power plant.

The car has a full-service history and started first go in our usual 'Cold Start' video, most recently serviced in July 2020. The F1 transmission reported 40% wear, many many more miles to go in the clutch, and it provides you with blistering performance when selecting gears.

Suspension and Brakes

The 599 utilises magnetorheological semi-active dampers along with its suspension coils - providing the car with that GT experience when driving casually.

Carbon-ceramic brakes are fitted to the car and look in excellent condition - having been maintained to schedule and checked during every service.

The Drive

With the help of the clever F1 Trac traction control system, the driver has the confidence to push the car and experience the performance it has to offer.

The car can be fast, dramatic and exhilarating, but has been designed as a GT also, offering a subtle contrast when needed.

Electrics and Other

The cars electrics, along with the mechanics, have always been serviced and maintained.

John tells us that there are no known faults on the car, from the electric seat adjustments through to the parking sensors front and back.

There are two original Ferrari keys and key fobs. I do not have the toolkit.

Hello John. Has any protective clear film been added to the car? From some of the photos it appears there is film around the bottom of the paintwork in front of the rear wheels on both sides.

If that’s the case, who applied the film, and if you know, when?

Hello Lifepilot,

There is a clear protective plastic film around the bottom of the paintwork in front of the rear wheels on both sides. Also around part of the front wheel arches, but difficult to spot. This was on the car when I bought it in May 2013. I don’t know who applied it but it was professionally done as the appearance hasn’t changed during the 7 years of my ownership.
