Introduction
Dom Ginn
A wonderfully distinctive example of Fiat’s wonderfully capable compact 4x4, presented in impressive condition and fitted with a selection of characterful period-style accessories.
The original Panda made its debut in 1980, offering straightforward mechanical engineering, exceptional practicality and an unmistakably functional shape. The four-wheel-drive model followed in 1983, creating one of the smallest and most versatile off-road vehicles of its era.
Fiat introduced its 999cc FIRE engine to the Panda range as part of the 1986 update. Producing approximately 45HP, it was never intended to offer outright speed; instead, the Panda’s light weight, compact proportions and low gearing helped it perform far beyond what its modest specifications might suggest.
This 1988 example is finished in metallic grey with contrasting red and grey 4x4 graphics, black protective trim and twin folding fabric roof panels. Front and rear tubular protection bars, four auxiliary lamps and winter-pattern tyres further enhance its purposeful appearance.
The interior is equally impressive, retaining its wonderfully simple design, clean patterned upholstery and distinctive full-width dashboard shelf. The car started immediately during our visit and performed very well on the road, with a smooth gearbox, positive brakes and no unwanted suspension noises.
* Danny, the current owner reports that the Panda has covered fewer than 7,000 miles from new. While there is currently insufficient documentation available to independently verify the mileage, the previous owner, who acquired the car from Tamworth Garage when it was just 29 days old, confirms that he believes the mileage to be correct. He has explained that he has recently moved house and believes further supporting documentation may still be packed away in storage. The car retains its original Tamworth Garage registration plates, providing a further piece of provenance from its early history.
According to the previous owner, the Panda was originally purchased as a dedicated “snow vehicle” and was intended to be used only when the weather required it. In practice, the relatively limited amount of snow during his ownership meant that the car saw very little use, and he reports that it was dry stored when not being driven. The exceptionally low indicated mileage, together with the car’s remarkably original presentation and generally solid condition, is consistent with a vehicle that has seen very limited use over its lifetime.
This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Danny the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Ask Owner
Hi. Would it be possible to talk to the owner?I have various questions on condition / history of any upgrades
Hi,
Of course, that’s exactly what this section is here for, so please feel free to ask any questions.
That said, I’m not sure how much more I can add beyond what is already shown in the 450+ photographs and approximately 15 minutes of video footage, but I’ll certainly do my best to help with any specific questions you may have.
Hello, is the previous owner willing/able to be contacted by the new owner to verify the mileage and history, and to pass on any documentation to verify the mileage should it be found ? Many thanks.
Hi, unfortunately, due to data protection laws, we’re unable to provide the previous owners’ contact details without their consent.
However, the previous owners have provided us with a signed confirmation stating that the indicated mileage is correct and that any documentation subsequently found will be forwarded on. This signed confirmation will be passed on to the new owner with the vehicle.
Although we cannot guarantee that they will agree, we would also be very happy to ask the previous owners to contact the winning bidder directly.
