Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

A masterclass from Fiat in less is more!

The Fiat Panda 750 L, a quintessential example of the utilitarian European city car. Designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro, the first-generation Panda was defined by its minimalist aesthetic and ingenious use of space. The 750 L variant, which is like the one we have on offer here, features a 769cc engine producing ~34 bhp, superb fuel economy at ~45.6mpg (urban), and offers a frugal, dependable driving experience perfectly suited to the era’s narrow city streets. While the "L" trim introduced modest interior refinements, the Panda is a lightweight, versatile, and accessible classic that turned basic transportation into a design icon.

This lovely example comes to the market after spending several years in the same family ownership and many years in storage before being purchased by our vendor, who has enjoyed it for the past ~12 months, it comes with a currently MOT valid until 12.06.2026.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Nathan the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

As a previous Panda owner, Nathan knew this was a good one to buy.

Purchased on a whim, Nathan is not new to Fiat Panda ownership, and the appeal of an unmolested original example was too good an opportunity to miss out on.

Following some recommissioning work, as the car had been in dry storage for some time, Nathan has enjoyed using the Panda for the past ~12 months, where great fuel economy, practicality and, of course, turning heads has been a daily occurrence.

Nathan will be happy to answer any questions in the comment section below.

Exterior

Form follows function - where every straight line and sharp corner celebrates the beauty of pure, simple utility.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the original steel wheels, these are finished in silver and are in excellent condition, all with the correct Fiat centre caps.

The tyres have been replaced by Nathan with what he believes to be the original-spec tyres, Pirelli Winter, which have plenty of tread for many miles to be covered.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

Walking around the boxy Panda, the bodywork is in excellent shape, with all panels aligned as you would expect with visually equal gaps.

Being picky, we noticed a small din on the driver's side sill and rear wheel arch, plus some ripples on the rear boot.

We’ve highlighted our observations in more detail through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

Finished in white, the paintwork presents well with no obvious areas for concern. There may be the odd age-related mark here and there, but these are extremely minimal. The car also wears Fiat side decals, which are also in good condition.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to make up your own mind about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The windows in the Panda appear to be in good condition, with no noticeable scratches or chips to note. Also in good order are the window seals, which are free from shrinkage or perishing.

The front and rear bumpers are in good condition, with no scuffs, and both front and rear lights are free of damage.

image

Interior

Simple and trouble-free - the Panda has everything you need with no fuss.

Seats and Carpets

The fabric seats in the front are generally in good condition, with just a small amount of stretch to the fabric. The rear seat does have a small hole at the bottom of the backrest, but a trimmer could possibly work their magic to repair this. Both door cards are in good condition with no signs of damage.

Inside the boot is clean and tidy. Even under the rubber flooring, the boot floor is exceptionally clean. Another nice point to mention is that the parcel shelf is intact and free from additional speaker holes.

Fitted with easy-clean rubber flooring throughout the cabin, this is in excellent condition with no signs of excessive use.

image

Dashboard

Matching the seats, the dash is trimmed in the same fabric, which is in good condition. The instruments are working correctly, and the odometer shows that just ~61,791 miles have been covered in its ~36 years on the road.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with the original two-spoke steering wheel and original gearknob, both are in good order with no signs of heavy use.

image

Mechanics

769cc isn’t ever going to produce massive bhp, but it still produces a great grin factor.

Engine and Gearbox

Inside the Panda’s engine bay, everything presents well and appears to be dry, with no areas for concern.

The 769cc fires up without hesitation and quickly comes to a smooth idle, with no issues reported.

Fitted with a four-speed gearbox, this has a smooth change and is easy to work your way through the range up to the ~78mph book top speed.

image

Suspension and Brakes

Nathan has replaced some parts on the suspension, meaning the Panda handles as it should – a great all-round vehicle, perfect for the city or country, with no knocks or bangs coming from either corner of the car.

The brakes work as you would expect, bringing the ~700kg Panda to a stop in a straight line, with no issues reported.

image

The Drive

Driving the Fiat Panda 750 L is a wonderfully simple and characterful experience that captures the charm of late-1980s and early-1990s Italian motoring. With its lightweight body and small 769cc engine, it feels lively at low speeds and perfectly suited to town driving.

The upright seating position and large windows provide excellent visibility, while the very light, unassisted steering and minimal electronics create a direct, mechanical connection between the driver and the car. It’s not about speed or luxury; instead, the Panda delivers a cheerful, back-to-basics drive that feels honest, practical and, importantly, great fun.

image

Electrics and Other

The switchgear appears to be original and appears to be working correctly with no issues reported. Also in place is the original Grundig radio cassette player and dash-mounted speakers.

Nathan told us, to his knowledge, everything is in working order.

History and Paperwork

The original sales brochure is a nice touch for this '90s icon.

The paperwork folder for the Panda isn’t enormous, just an invoice for some parts Nathan purchased, a couple of old MOT certificates, with a current MOT valid until 12.06.2026, an original sales brochure, the owner's manual and service booklet. However, just look at the condition of this little Fiat and let that do the talking for its history.

Could this Italian icon be the perfect city car? Easy to drive, lightweight, plenty of room inside, economical and in superb original condition with low miles.

We’ve carried out our usual seller checks, including verifying photo ID, the V5C and an HPI check. This confirms the car has not been stolen, written off or does not have any outstanding finance. Please note: this check does not include mileage verification.

We’ve summarised the car based on the seller’s information above. As always, we go to great lengths to photograph and film the car in high-resolution detail so you can make your own informed assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So grab a cuppa, sit back and enjoy reviewing everything in this listing.

Viewings are welcome for all our listings. Please get in touch to arrange a time – we just need to speak with you first and receive valid photo ID before confirming.

If you have any questions, no matter how small, please ask the seller in the comments section below before placing your bids, as bids cannot be retracted and form a binding contract if you win, just like in a traditional auction.

*** RESERVE LOWERED ***

Nathan has lowered the reserve so the highest bidder is more likely to win the Panda on Thursday, good luck!

Thanks,
Colin.
