Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

The original Pony car has aged gracefully and comes equipped with a mesmerising exhaust note - a true American icon.

As one of America's most iconic cars, the Mustang needs little introduction, not to mention it's one of the fastest-selling cars of all time. Its gorgeous styling is courtesy of Gale Halderman, David Ash, and Joe Oros, with the distinctive long bonnet and short boot it became the benchmark of the "Pony Car" concept.

Owned and driven by the likes of Bill Clinton, Charlie Sheen and Eminem, own a Mustang and you’re in glittering company! The Mustang is a highly-styled line of sporty coupes and convertibles instantly distinguishable by their long hood and short deck proportions.

Stevan is handling the sale on behalf of his friend. The car has covered limited mileage and presents in a great condition for an example from 1966.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Stevan the seller, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I really enjoy tinkering on iconic classics, I wish I had the space to keep this Mustang.

Stevan is handling the sale on behalf of his friend, who is an avid classic car collector. He is currently living abroad and no longer has space for the Mustang in his collection as much as he would love to keep it. Prior to that the car was owned by another friend of Stevan's for around 25years.

The Mustang was imported and restored in the UK in 1997, to a very high standard and has been well kept since covering very little miles since. It features a large 4.7 V8 engine, auto gearbox, twin exhaust finished in "Flame Red", with a white vinyl roof.

Stevan will be happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

Exterior

The muscle car with all the right proportions, 60s style, Flame Red paintwork, ultimately creating a classic sporty look.

Wheels and Tyres

The car comes fitted with 14" chrome wheels, which present in good condition today along with their red centre caps and wrapped in Kumho Solus KR21's all dated 2007.

The wheels look in a great reflective condition, along with Solus tyres - which appear to have a good amount of tread left on them and no signs of cracking from our observations. Please take a look at the exterior photos and videos to see the wheels up close for yourself.

Bodywork

We love the classic proportions of the Mustang, a true American icon, with its long bonnet and curvaceous body lines. The bodywork of the car appears generally very good, all the panel gaps look right and true, good for a '60s classic. When getting very close we did notice a very small area of cracking on the front bumper, nearside A pillar and around the bonnet release.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in a very attractive "Flame Red" paint with white vinyl roof. The finish on the paint is very good, it's even in coverage across each panel.

The images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The glass appears in very good condition with no major cracks, chips or discoloration observed on our visit. All the window rubbers and seals appear in great condition in line with the age and mileage. The brightwork appears generally very good all around.

We have captured high-resolution photos and videos for you to review and appreciate the condition of the exterior.

Interior

A very vibrant yet highly original interior, this Mustang pays homage to its country of origin.

Seats and Carpets

The seats and interior of this car appear in a very good condition in line with the restoration. The seats hold their shape and have refreshed two-tone covers. It is a similar story for the door cards.

The headlining appears in good condition along with the carpets, the car saw great attention during the restoration.

Dashboard

We haven't noticed any signs of any cracking or damage on the red topped dashboard, in line with the rest of the interior. The fascia is also as you would expect, with the instruments sitting in place with chrome bezels that look to be in good order but showing their age. The instruments are reported to be working as they should with the odometer reading ~69,158.

Please see the interior gallery for more hi-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel features a red rim to continue the vibrant theme. The three-spoke chrome wheel, with a Mustang centre badge, presents in good condition and shows no real signs of any wear. The chrome T bar gear lever is in great condition too.

Mechanics

Fitted with the famous Ford small block V8 engine, this 4.7L packs a punch and delivers a glorious sound.

Engine and Gearbox

Equipped with the 289 cu Ford small block engine (4.7L V8), this block was essentially manufactured for 42 years from 1961 all the way through to 2002. The engine offers the driver ~225BHP to tap into, allowing you to hit 60mph in 8.9 seconds and top out at 92mph.

The engine bay is presented in a very smart condition, with lots of work carried out to keep it in the condition you see today. We've captured a detailed mechanical video that shows the car out on the road and a view under and around the engine bay. Please take a look at the detailed media pack to see a closer view of the clean mechanics.

Suspension and Brakes

The Mustang sits just right and looks great on the road. Stevan reports suspension and brakes working as they should, mentioning a sporty ride.

For a classic of this age, Stevan reports the brakes are very responsive, quite a bit more than his 30-year-old newer defender.

The Drive

"Bullit" and "Gone in sixty seconds" created a newfound audience for the mustang. Once you hop in the driver's seat you'll understand what all the raving is about! They are labelled as muscle cars for a reason, and once you hear the sound of the V8 you won't want to travel in anything else.

Electrics and Other

Stevan reports all the switches, lights and buttons work as they should, mentioning the electrics received attention during the restoration.

History and Paperwork

Restored inside and out to a lovely standard, this classic Ford Mustang is an ideal summer cruiser.

A decent history file comes with this Mustang from its importation to the UK back in 1997. The car is now MOT and tax-exempt and comes with a boot full of spares including spark plugs, a rain cover for the grille and various manuals.

Stevan will be happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.
