Equipped with every conceivable extra as standard and further additions this XR3i All White is a rare 80s catch.

This is one of only 150 right-hand drives 'All Whites' ever made, with only 5 registered in the UK - this is #33 of 150. The "All White" came with every conceivable optional extra as standard and even additional ones not available on the options list including fuel computer, heated front screen, ABS, ECU2 radio, graphic equaliser, RS body kit, RS spoiler, White RS turbo wheels, white leather upholstery, beige dash and door cards.

With only 1 previous owner and low mileage on the clock, this is a cracking example of a limited run "Fast Ford". Coming to market with 4 new tyres were fitted ~100 miles ago, along with a new cambelt, water pump and thermostat change very recently.

Meet the owner

The rarity of this car really drew me in, I thoroughly enjoy the occasional drive out in the All White.

Mark is a car enthusiast and automotive dealer by trade, when this XR3i came up for sale down the road it really caught his eye, after a little more research realised how rare these "All Whites" really are and purchased to enjoy as a weekend car and keep as a future investment.

A few years later and Mark now requires more garage space for his second passion, motorbikes. With that in mind, he believes it's now time to hand the keys over to a like-minded enthusiast to enjoy the car like he has. Fully equipped with a full RS body kit, rear spoiler and white RST wheels - you can tell it's a very special edition.

Wheels and Tyres

Equipped with a set of white powder-coated RST alloys from the factory, each wheel looks in great condition, we love the 80s shape and stance these wheels give the car.

The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Cinturato P1's, also the same spec tryes originally fitted to the car, Mark mentions these we're all replaced together recently (tyres date stamped 2018) and mentions only ~120 miles have been travelled on them.

Bodywork

Straight from the 80s, with the addition of the attractive RS body kit and spoiler from factory. All the bodywork looks great on this particular example on visual inspection. Looking around we didn’t notice any obvious areas of concern on the bodywork, all the panels look straight and true.

Paint

Finished in its original "Diamond White", the paint looks in great condition with an even finish across the whole car, reflecting the low mileage, ownership and care this "All White" has received over the years.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks to be in great condition all around, the black trim/rubber seals look good too and are in line with the rest of the car.

Interior

A major throwback to the 80s with a fuel computer, graphic equaliser, and white leather seats.

Seats and Carpets

A very rare sight to see leather seats in an XR3i, marking it as a limited edition. The seats reflect condition that is in line with the age and mileage of the car, great throughout from our observation.

Beige trim around the door cards and brown dash trim set this "All White" apart from the crowd. Take a look at the interior videos and photographs.

Dashboard

Ford dials, gauges and switches all appear undamaged with no obvious signs of wear.

Mark assures us everything works exactly as it should.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheels look in great original and clean condition. The gearstick is a similar story, classic 80s Ford.

Mechanics

The original 1.6L multipoint injection engine runs exactly as you would expect for mileage of ~29,000.

Engine and Gearbox

The 1,597cc CVH engine was carried over from the regular XR3i, with peak outputs of ~104BHP, the convertible’s extra mass meant that its 0-60mph time of 9.8sec was 0.5sec slower than that of the coupe - but importantly faster than other soft-top rivals.

Mark reports a very smooth yet sporty drive in the little XR3i - the injectors really help give you that extra punch. As mentioned, the cars had a cambelt change along with service 2 years ago and less than a hundred miles since. We captured a cold start video that shows the car starting without fuss the first time. Suspension and Brakes

The XR3i saw important suspension changes, the front-wheel positive camber was eliminated and revised front struts left the wheels in a vertical stance. They also increased the anti-roll bar diameter and conventional coils were fitted.

The Drive

Mark loves driving this limited edition example with the roof down on long weekends. He mentions the sporty little 1.6L really goes and is great fun in the corners.

History and Paperwork

Low mileage, low ownership, RHD, #33 of 150 and 1 of 5 reportedly still on the road, this has got to be one for the Ford collectors out there.

This car is coming out of ~3 years of ownership with Mark, he purchased the car having stumbled across it locally, and was blown away by the low mileage and original ownership. The car comes with a decent history charting the cars mostly leisurely life. Mark has had a full service actioned in 2020, and covered less than a hundred miles since.
