Introduction
Jacob Boodrie
Offering the perfect blend of plush and performance, the Mark X is incredibly quiet while being one of the fastest saloons of its time.
The Mark X was first unveiled at the London Motor Show in October 1961, seven months after the E-Type. It was considered thoroughly modern for its time, offering monocoque construction, a DOHC engine, four-wheel disc brakes and sophisticated fully independent suspension. This example is the later model which received mechanical updates including variable-ratio steering and a 4,235CC engine, known as the 4.2 offering a useful increase in torque. Even as an automatic, the Mark X had a top speed of 120 mph and could outrun a Triumph TR4.
This example has spent most of its life in the Dawson Bros showroom (Craven Arms, Shropshire) and shows how it’s retained the condition you find it in today. The "Red Connolly Vaumol" leather interior is all original, and the vendor has treated the car to a full body respray in its original colour of "Warwick Grey". It's now ready for a new owner to use and enjoy as it was originally intended.
This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Keith the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.
