Providing class, comfort, and a very capable 3.4-litre in-line six engine, the Jaguar Mk2 3.4 is a venerable classic that represents true British motoring heritage.

Produced between 1959 and 1967 the Jaguar Mk2 was manufactured here on home turf in Coventry, England. Powered by the capable and reliable 3.4 six cylinder XK engine, the Mk2 offers plentiful performance as well as a classy and luxurious cabin for its occupants.

This particular example comes to us from John, and having owned the car for the last four years he has enjoyed his time with the car greatly. John tells us that the car is virtually unchanged from factory specification, with the only major change being the addition of Jaguar wire spoke chrome wheels over the original steel wheels.

Meet the owner

A very nostalgic car for me, the Mk2 Jaguar has to be one of the most gorgeous cars from the '60s.

John has been a fan of the Jaguar Mk2 for a long time and was in the market for one when this particular car came up for sale, a well looked after example that had been garage stored throughout its life.

When speaking with John it's clear to see how passionate he is about the car, however, during his time he has covered very few miles - only taking the car out in good weather. During his ownership John has had a new exhaust installed and wire spoke wheels fitted.

John is looking to sell the car as he is now rarely able to drive the car as he would like - he is on hand to answer any questions you may have in the comment section below.

Exterior

The blue paintwork compliments the sweeping lines of the bodywork wonderfully and combines with the stunning brightwork to create an undeniable aura of class and style.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with wire spoke chrome wheels that compliment the style of the car beautifully, these items are in very good condition with no visible damage to any of the spokes or lips, nor is there any major pitting visible on any of the wheels either.

The wheels are fitted with Federal Super Steel 657 tyres which are DOT marked for the year 2010. These tyres are in good condition, with a good amount of tread left across the board and no major cracking or splitting visible to the outside sidewalls.

Bodywork

The bodywork of Johns Mk2 is generally in good condition, with no dents, damage, or visually misaligned panels to speak of. There is paperwork to suggest some light repairs to one of the doors, however this is not immediately obvious, otherwise the bodywork is all in good condition.

Paint

The metallic blue paintwork is a stunning colour and compliments the car greatly, and it is not suffering from any major scratches, chips, or scrapes and is in generally good condition overall. There is possibly a very light colour mismatch on the passenger door, however this is very difficult to see and even in direct sunlight was not obvious under general scrutiny.

There are some very slight areas of bubbling on some panels as you'll see in the pictures.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass on the car appears to be in great condition, with no evidence of chips, cracks, or scratches present on any of the panes around the vehicle. Likewise the surrounding trims are in fairly good condition, with the chrome work free of any major pitting.

There is some evidence of weathering to the front and rear chrome bumpers but this is very minor and does not detract from the overall appearance of the car whatsoever.

Interior

The classy and elegant design of the Mk2’s interior is a jump back in time, with real leather upholstery, burl wood dashboard, and a simple but luxurious cabin space.

Seats and Carpets

The blue leather upholstery looks to be in generally quite good condition, with the front two seats showing little more than an age related patina consisting of some light cracking and some minor wear on seat bolsters.

The carpets all look to be in good condition for their age, with no signs of heavy wear or threadbare areas, and the floor underneath is all dry too.

Dashboard

The burl wood dashboard is in good condition, with no signs of delamination, and all switchgear is present and correct too, however there is some slight crazing to the finish of the dashboard as you can see in the images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gearstick both look to be in good condition, with the rim of the steering wheel being undamaged and likewise the gear stick does not present any obvious signs of damage either.

Mechanics

Powered by the robust 3.4L engine, widely regarded as ‘bulletproof’, this engine offers all the performance you could want from the Mk2.

Engine and Gearbox

In its day the engine produced ~210hp - a very impressive figure for the '60s that has stood the test of time and offers admirable performance even by today's standards.

The engine starts on the button from cold, as can be seen in our ‘On The Road’ video, and drives wonderfully, pulling well throughout the gears

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension provides a comfortable ride, absorbing bumps with ease while still handling nicely through the corners. We did not hear any suspicious knocks or noises during our time on the road with the vehicle and you can listen for yourself when watching the video review.

Likewise the brakes perform well, bringing the car to a stop without issue.

The Drive

As you would expect from the 3.4L the car offers a sensational drive, with plenty of power under your foot and a comfortable and classy interior - the Jaguar Mk2 offers a nostalgic and comfortable driving experience unlike many others.

Electrics and Other

The electrical systems on the car all work as expected and John tells us he has had no problems in this area during his four years of ownership.

Good evening
In the on the road video the running oil pressure looks quite low
When the car is up to temp what is the oil pressure on tick over and when driving is it running around the 45 lbs

Hi, This footage was taken very shortly after start up so the oil temp was not up yet.
You are correct, the oil temp shows 40/45 once up to temp with no concerns.

Hi, in the photos and video the car looks like it’s a different colour (darker) blue below the waistline on the driver’s side. Is this the case or is it just a trick of the sunlight? Thanks.

Hi, The car is one universal colour throughout. To our knowledge the car has also NOT been repainted.

I can’t see which photo you are referring to but can confirm all one colour.
