Recent Buyer Review – Simon Welsh on 1st May “Found my ideal 90’s sports car on Trade Classics. Living in Bournemouth and the car being in the Midlands I relied heavily on the advert, photos and videos.

On picking the car up I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was as it had been described. So I got straight into it and drove home. What a drive put a smile on my face.

Thanks very much Trade Classics and I’m now looking out for my next classic to add to the collection.”.

THE CAR & MICHAEL

Michael has owned the car for 3 years and has enjoyed the experience of owning such an iconic British classic. He is looking to move abroad to California, therefore looking to find the car a new home.

From what we know, the mechanical side of things has had some restoration works. We are told that the car retains a lot of its originality with some minor changes here and there.

The car comes with a production trace certificate from Jaguar Heritage Trust.

EXTERIOR

The Jaguar doesn’t get as iconic as this shape and is set in a blue that will make heads turn whenever you decide to go for a cruise. Please watch the ‘Exterior review’ video to view the full condition of the car as well as all the photos.

Wheels & Tyres
The car looks to have the original wheels that maintain excellent condition. The tyres are of different ages and brands but have good tread.

Bodywork
The panels look in good condition with no dents or bumps across the car.

Paint
Please review all the photos and videos of the car as you can see some minor scratching and possibly some micro-blistering in some areas that you can review.

Glass and Trim
The glass is in good condition whilst the trim could do with replacing by the new owner.

INTERIOR

Wow.. The red interior of this car looks stunning and gives the car a real character. With a mixture of vinyl, wool and cloth, you definitely feel like you’re in a comfortable cabin. Who can say no to a wooden dashboard too? Please take a look at all the photos and video of this beautiful internal masterpiece. The interior of the car was restored and re-trimmed in Michaels ownership.

Seats and Carpets
The condition of the interior is tip top having been restored.

Dashboard
The dashboard of a MKII always catches our eye in the office and this example is no different.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Both are in great condition, take a look at the video and photo content to review.

MECHANICS

As mentioned, a mechanical restoration was performed on the car after being imported from California. The car has power steering and automatic gearbox that works well. We took an “Engine Review” video showing the car starting. We also have photos of the engine bay that details the full condition of this area.

Engine and Gearbox
The 3.4L straight-six engine is always going to sound beautiful. At the time of testing the car could manage a top speed of 119mph, accelerating 0-60 in 11.9 seconds. Although you may not want to try this out in modern-day, it is a testament to the engineering of Jaguar.

Suspension and Brakes
Although we were not able to test the car in our usual “On the Road” video, Michael assures us the brakes and suspension are in good health.

Electrics and Other
We are assured by the owner that the dials are all in working order and maintain the originality you would expect from a Mark 2. The underside of the car looks in good condition, as can be seen in the media file of the photos and “Exterior Review” video.

HISTORY

The car enjoyed much of its life in America, California.

As mentioned, the car comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the Jaguar Heritage Trust that states the numbers shown on the registration document.

OUR SUMMARY

The Mark 2 finally made its way back to Britain where it deserves to be after many years making heads turn in America. The new owner will feel proud by taking on this car as their own and cruising through the country on a lush sunny day.

The Opalescent Blue paint will be shining in the sun once again soon and we cannot wait to help Michael find the car a new owner as he endeavours his dream of living in America, just as this car has done.

Michael

Hi Sean mileage is only 32000.
We’ve been told that because it’s classic car , we don’t need to do mot to be able to drive it. But car is ready for mot as all mechanical things like brakes , suspension etc been sorted already

Ok thanks for responding to me. I know it is MOT exempt but some people have it done. I would like it for weddings and shows so I have to be sure everything is ok for insurance especially for weddings. Many Thanks Sean

Come and have a look on it. I’m sure you will love it. It’s not many of them left in this condition. I wouldn’t sell it if I wouldn’t move abroad to be honest.
