The XJ6 pairs classic British style with smooth straight-six power, delivering a refined, effortless drive in a timeless, elegant saloon.

The Jaguar XJ6 represents everything that made Jaguar synonymous with British luxury, combining elegant styling, refined comfort, and effortless performance in one distinguished package.

With its long, sweeping bonnet, graceful lines, and unmistakable Jaguar presence, the XJ6 exudes a sense of sophistication that remains timeless decades after it first left the showroom. Inside, the cabin showcases the craftsmanship for which Jaguar became famous, with rich wood veneers, sumptuous leather upholstery, and a level of comfort that made the XJ6 a favourite among executives and enthusiasts alike.

Powered by Jaguar's renowned straight-six engine, the XJ6 delivers smooth and relaxed performance, perfectly suited to grand touring and long-distance motoring. The driving experience is defined by its remarkable ride quality, with supple suspension and light steering creating an effortless sense of progress whether navigating city streets or cruising along open roads.

This example comes to market from its original family ownership, two sets of keys, original drivers folio, handbook and accompanying owners guide on cassette, it comes with a current MOT valid until 17.02.2027.

Meet the owner

The Jag has been with the family for as long as I can remember, a well respected car that will be missed.

Richard, the current custodian of the XJ6, has long admired classic Jaguar saloons and their blend of comfort and luxury. He told us, “I’ve always loved the XJ6. It has a real sense of occasion every time you drive it.”

Well cared for throughout its life, the Jaguar is a car that is well known to the family. Richard adds, “My dad has owned this car from brand new, and it has been in the family for what seems like forever!"

Now with less time to use the car, Richard is looking to pass it on to a new enthusiast. He says, “I’d like it to go to someone who will truly appreciate it, although I'll be sad to see it leave.”

If you have any questions about the car, Richard would be happy to respond in the comments below.

Exterior

From its graceful lines to its iconic chrome grille, it remains a masterclass in automotive design decades after it first hit the road.

Wheels and Tyres

The car currently sits on well-suited on it's original silver wheel trims.

The wheels are fitted with Avon tyres to the front, Dunlop to the rear and a tread spec of 220/65. The tyres showed with a few age related marks and we were unable to accurately date code these.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

Bodywork

The Jaguar bodywork is in good condition overall especially considering its ~38 years on the road.

Looking around the car, there were a few dings and marks to the panels, mainly on the boot lid, drivers side door, and a slight scuff to the passenger side wheel arch, although nothing of major concern.

Both the front and rear doors and boot sections opened and closed well. The bonnet opened without issue, although the support struts will require fixing to hold this open.

We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The Jaguar shows off its classic coat of 'Alpine Green' with pride, a smart colour for this XJ6. The original, subtle body line stripe was still in place along the side of the car.

There were very minor signs of paint chipping and a couple of slight scratches on the rear passenger side door, if we were being really picky.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to form your own opinion about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The windscreen shows well and all window sections look smart - during our visit, we didn't notice any chips or cracks to the main glass.

Window seals look good and align with the overall condition of the car.

The roof shows in nice condition and we noted no issues with the interior roof finish.

The body trim is in great shape, lenses are in smart condition to the front and rear and badges reflect the same standard. There was a slight crack to the driver side lower side indicator light.

There was mild pitting to the chrome work, but overall, presented really well.

We've taken you around the car in greater detail in our exterior review video, please take the time to look over the video and see how the glass and trim look from different perspectives.

Interior

Elegant, understated, and quietly confident, with every detail designed to make the drive feel as refined as it looks.

Seats and Carpets

Tweed upholstered seats provide a lovely place to take in the road ahead. The seats show in lovely condition and we barely noted a mark on these. The driver side seatbelt did show marks on the finish.

The rear section again showed well, in line with the rest of the cabin and showing very nicely. The rear lighting on the seats was functioning without issue on our visit.

The carpets show well too to the front and rear, without any concerns or issues.

We've captured high-resolution photos and a full interior video tour through the car. This covers off the angles inside the car for you to review and appreciate the condition of what's on offer here in our interior review section.

Dashboard

The dash shows really well and the walnut trim matched with great levels of presentation - we noted no warning lights displayed when driving.

The odometer showed a reading of ~60,616 miles during our visit.

Gauges, controls and interfaces were functioning without concern when starting up the car and out on the road and all dial surfaces were free from fogging.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A classic and clean 2-spoke leather wheel is well presented.

The black gear selector looks lovely, aligning with the quality of the cabin. The interior of the Jaguar is a lovely place to take in the road ahead from, well presented and smart.

There was a slight split to the leather on the central glovebox edge, although very minor.

We've captured high-resolution photos for you to review and check over the condition of the interior in our gallery section.

Mechanics

Under the bonnet, it's not about aggression, but about grace - a power plant built to waft, not rush, and to make every mile feel unhurried and composed.

Engine and Gearbox

The Jaguar performed without issue when starting up, running and out and about, feeling connected and confident during the drive.

Overall, the car drives very well and performs without issue. We worked our way through the gears on the journey out.

Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around some local roads, and for a closer look underneath the Jaguar and the engine bay.

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no untoward knocks, bangs or other issues from the suspension when we were driving, and it gave us no concerns in its performance or handling. There were no major concerns looking over the underside of the car on our visit either.

The brakes felt to have no pull or vibrations that stood out to us when on the journey, and brought the car to a stop without a problem. Overall the car performed as to be expected with no concerns out on the road.

Please take a look over the mechanical videos and photographs to see close-up images from under the car.

The Drive

The Jaguar XJ6 offers a driving experience defined by effortless refinement and timeless composure, making it one of the most desirable luxury saloons of its era.

Out on the drive, it brings a smooth, unhurried style, with its supple suspension soaking up the road well, creating that signature Jaguar “waft” that has become so highly regarded.

On the road, the XJ6 settles in with ease, combining comfort and stability that encourages longer journeys. It doesn’t demand attention - it simply delivers a calm driving experience that focuses on comfort and effortless style.

Electrics and Other

The XJ6 features a cassette player and 6 cassette changer, located in the centre section. The Jaguar is complete with a spare wheel in the boot. A lovely touch is the original vanity mirror in the glovebox.

A real highlight of the car is the digital gauge functions and in-car computer on the driver section, where controls are also provided for lights and driving information.

We weren't able to fully test all of the functions when visiting the car, but Richard let us know that the gas lifters don't function correctly on the bonnet and there was an issue with the driver's side rear window.

History and Paperwork

The XJ6 carried forward decades of heritage while stepping confidently into a new era of luxury motoring.

The Jaguar XJ6 remains a highly regarded classic, admired for its blend of traditional British luxury, understated elegance, and mechanical refinement. It is a car that captures the spirit of a bygone motoring era, offering a driving experience that is every bit as special as its iconic appearance suggests.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition.

Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Richard is having issues logging in so I spoke to him on the phone and he said this: There was a small rust patch behind the front passenger wing (behind the wheel by the mud flap). So the car was taken to a specialist repair garage to get fixed professionally.
