Introduction
Paul Wright
Powerful, smooth, luxurious leather and elegant - could the XK8 possibly be the perfect grand tourer?
These elegant, Fergus Pollock-styled cars were first introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996. Available in both convertible and coupe form, they were warmly received by the public, over ~90,000 were sold mainly to the UK and US markets. A worthy successor to the XJS, the XK8 pioneered Jaguar's first homegrown V8. Previous V8 Jaguar offerings had, very successfully, utilised a Daimler unit. However, this new engine was highly innovative and featured 32 valves, variable valve timing and a power output of ~290BHP.
True to its Jaguar pedigree, the XK8 looks every inch the feline predator with more than a hint of E-type heritage. Sharing a platform with the Aston Martin DB7, it’s a beautiful, luxurious and powerful sports car capable of delivering an engaging, communicative and exhilarating driving experience.
This lovely low-mileage example has been cared for by the vendor since late 2010. Spending more time abroad has meant the XK8 hasn't been used as much as it deserves, which has brought on the sale of the car.

Hi Gaynor
Any news on the Waxoyl treatments
Best Wishes John
As I said it was waxoiled a few weeks ago after the MOT. I can only suggest you look back at the service history on the website. There is a full history there, just click View All.
Hope this helps John.
Kind regards,
Gaynor.
Sounds like very good news can you please let me know when it had its first treatment of Waxoyl and how often that has been reapplied
Many Thanks
Hi I once owned one of these cars and loved it but the corrosion under the car was problematic and was expensive to maintain for this reason I sold it, how would you describe the condition of the car underneath has it had any special treatments e.g. Waxoyl etc. and has it been welded in any areas for structural reasons
Many Thanks
Hi John,
I had a bit of corrosion under the wheel arches but that was dealt with three years ago. She sailed through her MOT a few weeks ago and her bottom was well wax oiled.?
Hello,
The car has been beautifully maintained and starts first time every time. I am currently out of U.K. until August ergo I have no way of furnishing you with the engine number.
Kind regards,
Gaynor.
Sorry forgot to say as David2cv mentioned Jaguar replaced an awful lot of the early engines
Good morning Gaynor,
As far as I know the Nikasil liners were fitted to XK8 engines up to August 2000 and then steel cylinder liners were used.
I don’t suppose you know the month of manufacture of your car?
Having said this if the engine has Nikasil liners but is in fine fettle now it shouldn’t have suffered significant wear.
Starting problems I have been told are an early symptom of Nikasil liner wear ….. regards
Hi. Do you know whether the tensioners have been replaced and whether Jaguar replaced this engine (as they did in many cases of XK8’s of this era) as a result of the Nikoseal issues? Thank you! David
Hi David,
Gaynor asked me to pass on her answer.
There is a full history and as I am aware no evidence that the engine was changed.
Kind regards,
Gaynor
THank you. I see thast the car was first registered in March 2000 and will therefore be fiited originally with Nikoseal Liners. It would be surprising if (but certainly not impossible) if the engine has not been replaced by Jaguar and it would be worth checking the engine number. The first steel lined engine was engine number 0008181043. Kind Regards, David
Hi David, if you look on the website you will find the Confirmation Certificate which states the engine number as being NC0002092123. Hope this helps. Engine numbers mean nothing to me ?
Kind regards,
Gaynor.
I checked the paperwork on the website. There is a Confirmation Certificate with engin number NC0002092123
Thank you. That would, ideed, appear to suggest that it has the original engine – unless anyone else knows better! Kind regards, David
Hello Gaynor,
Does the air con work? If I win, the car will be going to Spain!
Regards,
Derek
Hi Derek,
Gaynor has asked me to pass on her answer.
Dear Derek,
Yes, the air con works but if you buy it for Spain put the roof down, it’s gorgeous!??
Kind regards,
Gaynor
Thank you and rest assured the top will be down most of the time! But the experience is even better when with wafts of cool air from the vents…
