2000 Jaguar XK8 Convertible

Introduction

This Jaguar XK8 Convertible was first registered on the 6th December 2000 and was ordered in Platinum Silver with an Ivory interior, which was contrasted by a black hood and an ivory tonneau cover. It has had three owners from new.

I have owned and loved the car for 5 years. The car has been well loved and looked after and drives very well indeed.
Unfortunately I no longer have use of a garage so need to sell it.

Exterior

Finished in Platinum Silver, this Jaguar XK8 Convertible presents nicely. It does have some cosmetic details that need addressing, which I've detailed below.

Wheels and Tyres

The alloy wheels are clean and presentable with some marks present. A pair of Pirellis are fitted to the fronts with Dunlops on the rear - and they all appear to have good levels of thread.

Bodywork

There is rust present in the left rear wing behind the wheel, which is a common weak area on the XK8. This has lead to a rust bubble further back up the wing just above one of the parking sensors. The right side rear wing appears to have faired better with some surface rust starting on the lower edge of the arch.

Paint

In Platinum Silver, this Jaguar XK8 Convertible presents nicely.

It does have some cosmetic details that need addressing, including:
Some scuffs and paint rubs on the front bumper corners.
The front drivers side wing has a small dent above the bumper and moving around the car there are some chips and scratches present.
There are some rub and chip marks on both wing mirrors and there is a small dent on the boot lid along with some scratches, which are shown in the photos.

Glass and Trim

In good condition.

Interior

The Ivory leather interior presents in good condition. It is nice and bright and is set off very well by the light walnut veneered wood trim, which looks to be in good shape.

Seats and Carpets

Good condition with Jaguar mats.

Dashboard

All the gauges work as they should, as does the radio which activates the electric aerial. This goes up and down in a nice smooth action and I've made a point to keep it clean to prevent it from binding; a common quirk of this era of Jaguar.

The car has a CD changer in the boot but it hasn't been used as far as I know so I'm unsure whether it works.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

In good condition.

Mechanics

lt has the 4.0 litre AJ-V8 engine which produces 290BHP.

It is fitted with a 5 speed ZF automatic gearbox, and benefits from a Sport mode and Cruise Control.

The sports convertible drives very well, and is comfortable on the open road.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine runs well, having had four new coil packs just fitted.

The gears change smoothly and just how they should.

Suspension and Brakes

There is an invoice on file for welding repairs carried out by Harwoods Jaguar Crawley, which was done in June 2013 at a cost of £1,562. There are a number of printed copies of photos which were taken of the welding, however the images did not photograph very well. They are included in the history file and do show the works that were carried out underneath.

The same invoice also details the fitting of new timing chain cover gaskets.

The Drive

The car drive really well and smoothly.

Electrics and Other

All electrics work fine.

It has a valid NEW MOT with all advisories addressed.

This Jaguar XK8 comes with a factory book pack and two keys included in the history file .

This Jaguar XK8 comes with a factory book pack and two keys. Included in the history file are numerous old MOTs and invoices for previous maintenance. A good number were with Harwoods Jaguar Crawley and the previous elderly owner appears to have looked after his sports convertible. There are also a number of purchase invoices from Jaguar dealerships, including one from Doves in Croydon in 2007.
