Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Editor and Photographer

Evoking the spirit of its legendary heritage, the XKR exudes an air of understated sophistication.

The Jaguar XKR represents a definitive chapter in the evolution of the modern British grand tourer. As the high-performance evolution of the X100 XK8 platform, the XKR was engineered to bridge the gap between long-distance luxury and aggressive, pulse-quickening performance.

At the heart of the XKR lies a potent 4.0-litre AJ-V8 engine. By force-feeding this unit with an Eaton supercharger, Jaguar elevated the output to 370 horsepower, delivering a torrential surge of torque that remains impressive even by modern standards. Inside, the cabin is a masterclass in classic British luxury, featuring a generous application of burl walnut veneer, supple Connolly leather, and a dashboard layout that masterfully balances ergonomic function with aesthetic charm.

Presented in a sophisticated Pacific Blue finish over an Ivory leather interior, this 2001 Jaguar XKR has covered just ~44,005 miles under the care of only three owners. The vehicle is complete with its full owner’s wallet, including a service book stamped 14 times, and two sets of keys.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Andy the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The combination of its supreme comfort, supercharged V8 performance, and timeless styling makes it a special car.

Andy has enjoyed this Jaguar since 2018, covering around 2,500 miles. It has been used sparingly as an occasional vehicle and has always been kept garaged. He has recently acquired a Porsche Boxster - offering a similar open-top driving experience, but he admits that parting with the Jaguar was a difficult decision.

Andy feels it is time to find a new owner who will ensure it is driven and enjoyed as it deserves.

Andy will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The aggressive, purposeful design of the XKR is brought to life by its superb overall condition.

Wheels and Tyres

The car is equipped with 20-inch, 2-piece split-rim ‘Detroit’ BBS alloy wheels. All four wheels are in excellent condition, showing no significant signs of age or wear.

The front and rear of the car is fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres with the front show a spec of 255/35 and 285/30 to the rear - these are date coded from 2024 and are in good shape throughout.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

The exterior presents well and benefits from a flush panel alignment. While the wheel arch lips show minor signs of age, the remainder of the bodywork appears free of damage. Shut lines are consistent throughout, and the doors operate smoothly on solid hinges. Additionally, the window drop-glass mechanism functions perfectly on both doors.

While there is some surface corrosion present on the sill lips, floor pan sections beneath the front passenger footwell, and the rear subframe, these areas are not flagged as issues during the most recent MOT.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

The striking Pacific Blue paintwork retains a deep lustre following a recent professional detail. While there are a few minor surface marks, the finish remains largely free of any significant chips or scratches.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good condition with good seals, and the windscreen was replaced in early 2026. The headlights and lenses remain clear and present well.

A retrofitted grille has been added, providing a sharp finishing touch to the front end.

While the glasshouse trim shows minor signs of age-related corrosion, it remains securely mounted.

Finally, the bumpers are flush with the bodywork and are free of any scuffs or marks.

image

Interior

Reflecting its history of careful ownership, the interior remains in remarkably fresh condition.

Seats and Carpets

The ivory leather interior is clean throughout. The seats display mild, age-related creasing and minor discolouration on the driver’s side, consistent with the vehicle's age.

The carpets and floor mats are in good condition and are completely free of damp.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard is in excellent condition, a testament to the vehicle's modest mileage and low number of owners. The leather padding and wood veneers are free from any significant marks or wear.

All dials, controls, and switches are in working order, including the aircon.

The headlining is clean, the door cards and cabin trim are well-presented, and the boot trim reflects a history of careful use.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gear lever present positively, finishing off the well-kept condition of the interior.

The walnut gear stick with Jaguar Coventry logo inset is an aftermarket item that Andy purchased.

image

Mechanics

The supercharged power delivers effortless, muscular performance while maintaining refined ride comfort.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine starts readily and runs smoothly, free of any untoward ticking or knocking noises. All dashboard warning lights extinguish correctly upon ignition, and aside from typical cold-start condensation, the exhaust is clean with no signs of excessive fumes.

The engine bay is in clean condition with well-maintained hoses and ancillaries.

The gearbox functions perfectly; the sport mode operates as intended, and gear engagement - both forward and reverse is said to be smooth and free of any clunks or hesitations.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The car handles well, with a composed ride and confident road manners. The suspension is free of thuds or wobbles; however, a mild squeak is noticeable from the nearside at low speeds, which we heard when the roof was lowered. It is worth noting that the most recent MOT included an advisory regarding worn bushes, which likely accounts for this.

The braking system is highly effective, bringing the car to a even and drama-free stop. The steering remains perfectly true under braking, and we noted no squeals or unwanted noises during the drive.

image

The Drive

Driving the XKR is a study in contrasts: it is a refined, luxurious cruiser by nature, but the supercharged 4.0-litre V8 is always ready to perform. Unleash the throttle, and you are met with the distinct, eager whine of the Eaton supercharger as the car surges forward with relentless, thrilling performance.

Jaguar’s Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS) effortlessly balances agility with grand-touring refinement, adapting to the road in real time. Despite its size, the car feels balanced and eager, with precise steering that invites you to push harder. On a challenging stretch of road, the XKR’s credentials truly shone; its combination of tenacious grip, sharp inputs, and a wonderfully cosseted ride cements the XKR as an unparalleled long-distance performance machine.

Throughout his eight years of ownership, Andy has reported no issues regarding oil pressure or oil temperature.

image

Electrics and Other

The soft top is in excellent condition, showing no signs of exposure to the elements. It raises and lowers smoothly, with the motors operating effortlessly and without strain.

The car also includes its original tonneau hood cover.

image

History and Paperwork

Characterised by its modest mileage and just three owners, the car also boasts an impressive service history.

First registered in March 2001 by Jaguar main dealer PJ Evans of Birmingham, this vehicle boasts a comprehensive service history with 14 stamps in the book plus an additional service invoice. Recent maintenance includes a new windscreen and a replacement power steering pump. A file of invoices dating back to 2017 covers regular upkeep and sundry items, notably the replacement of both fuel pumps in 2024.

The car is supplied with its full owner’s pack, two sets of keys, and the original Jaguar handbook in its leather wallet. It holds a valid MOT until January 2007, and the last service was performed approximately 4,000 miles ago.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hello Andy, Is there a reason for the gap in the cars MOT from 2019 to 2024? Also, is it possible to view the car (not sure how to arrange this, or if it is possible for listings on this site). Thanks Ken

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
