Introduction

Colin Bashford
Professional Consigner

Number 41 of only 50 ever produced, these limited edition cars were squirrelled away by collectors originally, it's nice to see one that's been enjoyed.

The Jaguar XFR first graced the world in 2009, at the time it was the fastest saloon car Jaguar had ever built. Packing a ~510BHP 5.0L V8, fitted with a supercharger, driving the rear wheels through a ZF 8-speed gearbox.

This car is one of only 50 produced in the Stratstone Le Mans Limited Edition, finished in "Polaris White", one of only two colours available for this special version. The door sills on the front of the car feature a special plaque denoting the number of the car, this being number 41. Front headrests are embossed with the Stratstone Le Mans branding, other ways to identify this limited edition model are the gloss black grilles, 20" alloy wheels and body coloured trim.

This car comes to market after ~4 years ownership, purchased as a weekend toy, it has covered some ~20,000 miles in the current ownership and comes to market having been serviced in March this year.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Colin after meeting Vivienne the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Used as a weekend toy in the last few years by Alan, Vivienne's husband.

Vivienne told us her husband Alan is a big petrol head and has always had sports cars. He loves the XFR as it has brilliant performance and sounds the business. You still have all the luxuries you expect from a Jaguar too, it is also big enough to bring the family along on a drive.

They've used their local garage for servicing, most recently in March, and have covered some on average ~5,000 miles per year in the car. With Alan now having an SUV for weekends, the XFR is getting less use and so comes to auction with us. Vivienne and Alan will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The bonnet vents with supercharged script give a hint that is no ordinary Jaguar saloon.

Wheels and Tyres

Gloss black alloy wheels come as part of the Stratstone Le Mans, 20" items. We noticed some kerb markings on all of the wheels, there was also some places where the lacquer was peeling on the wheels too, a wheel refurb is in order and would be fix these problems.

A complete set of Pirelli P-Zeros were fitted to the car, these looked to have plenty of tread left on them. Please view the high resolution photos and video below to have a detailed view of the wheels and tyres.

Bodywork

The XFR features a more aggressive body style than a standard XF, with a sportier body kit. Panel gaps across the car looked good. We noticed a very deep scratch on the left side of the front bumper, we didn't notice any other dings or dents though. We also noticed some small areas of corrosion coming though the paint on three of the wheel arches.

Again, take a look at the photos and video below to view the bodywork condition for yourself.

Paint

The paint looked to be bright with no discolouration, we did notice swirl marks when looking at the reflection of the sun however. We also noticed a few stone chips in the surround of the front grille.

Please see the photos and video below to check the paintwork for yourself.

Glass and Trim

Glass looked to be in good condition, there didn't look to be any stone chips or cracks in the windscreen.

Trim on the car is mainly body coloured with some chrome, the chrome looked shiny as you would expect. Please take a look at the photos and video below to review the glass and trim.

Interior

Embossed headrests and numbered plaques set off this limited edition XFR.

Seats and Carpets

The perforated leather seats looked to be in good condition, there was some slight wear which matches the age and mileage of the car. The headrests have "Stratstone Le Mans" embossed into the leather.

The carpet seemed to be in good condition too, we didn't notice any stains on any of the carpets. Please take a look at the photos and video below to view the seats and carpets.

Dashboard

Easily readable dials greet you, on pressing the starter button the dash comes to life with the vents swivelling around in the dash, as well as the drive select raising up from the centre console.

A mix of silver mesh, carbon fibre trim and leather adorn the dashboard/centre console and door cards.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The multifunction steering wheel has an R emblem on the bottom spoke, it looked in good condition with only slight wear noticed around the rim.

As mentioned above the gear selector rises up from the centre console when the car is switched on, it looked to be in good condition too. Please take a look at the photos and video below to see the condition of the interior.

Mechanics

At its heart lives the 5.0L supercharged V8, making a tremendous roar when given a firm press by your right foot.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine started first time accompanied by a lovely burble, the exhaust seems to sit out a little bit further than you'd expect making us think this could be an aftermarket part.

On the road with Vivienne the engine felt responsive and smooth, the automatic gearbox felt smooth too. Please view the on the road video below to see the engine and gearbox in action. The car recently had a service in March with their local garage.

Suspension and Brakes

The XFR has a stiffer suspension than a standard car, on our drive it felt comfortable though, we didn't notice any unwanted noises coming from the suspension.

The brakes are drilled and vented, there wasn't any opportunities to properly test them while on the road, however Vivienne assured us they had a good bite to them. Please view the on the road video below to assess the suspension and brakes for yourself.

The Drive

As mentioned above the car drives well and sounds great, we didn't notice any unexpected clunking from anywhere. It is both luxurious and quick, giving the driver a fun experience.

Vivienne told us she prefers a quiet car, but her husband loves the noise. Please view the on the road video to see, and hear, the car in motion.

Electrics and Other

The XFR is filled with luxury components including electric seats and rotating vents, these were working, Vivienne told us all the electrics in the car were in good working order to her knowledge.

History and Paperwork

Averaging at ~6,000 miles a year over its life, this limited edition XFR Stratstone Le Mans is one which has been used and enjoyed rather than sitting in hibernation.

There are lots of receipts from over the years including services and MOTs. Vivienne's husband Alan has enjoyed the car over the ~4 years, she told us he loves the noise from the supercharged V8, he loves driving through tunnels and can't resist having a wee blip of the throttle.

Please see the photos of the documentation below.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Could you advise if the brakes have recently been changed following the March 2022 MOT advisories? Could you also advise if any work was carried out following the July 2021 advisories? Thanks.
