Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Editor and Photographer

The Jaguar XKR balances Grand Touring grace with the heart of a supercar.

The X150 Jaguar XKR 5.0 represents the zenith of Jaguar’s grand touring heritage. Penned by Ian Callum, this supercharged powerhouse evolved the XK from a gentle cruiser into a legitimate supercar contender.

At its heart lies the AJ-V8 Gen III 5.0-litre engine, paired with a twin-vortex supercharger for a massive leap in performance. Its bonded and riveted aluminum monocoque chassis provides a level of agility perfectly balanced by the Adaptive Dynamics damping system - delivering a serene GT ride with a vicious supercar punch. Inside, the cabin is a masterclass in British "clubhouse" luxury, featuring leather-stitched surfaces and high-quality veneers that feel modern rather than retro.

Coming to market after a year with our vendor, this facelift 2012 model is finished in striking Metallic Black with a Carbon Fibre and leather interior. It boasts a strong maintenance record, including £3,300 spent in the last 12 months alone. Currently showing ~92,877 miles, the car presents smartly with recent front tyres, new fuel injectors, and a fresh 12-month MOT.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Jayden the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I know I’m going to regret selling the XKR, but it is time for someone else to experience this brilliant car.

Jayden acquired his Jaguar in early 2025, immediately embarking on a dedicated program to elevate the car to its current high standard of presentation. Influenced by deep-rooted family connections to the marque and extensive research, he has cherished the car as a refined weekend grand tourer, primarily for longer journeys.

Due to a change in professional circumstances, Jayden has regrettably decided to part with the vehicle; he feels the car is far too well-preserved to be subjected to the rigours of a high-mileage daily commute and hopes its condition is maintained by a new owner.

Jayden will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

Presenting smartly with only minor age-related marks, the XKR remains striking and perfectly balanced.

Wheels and Tyres

The front of the car is fitted with a pair of Continental tyres with the front showing a spec of 255/35 and date coded 2025, it has Crossleader 285/30 to the rear - these are date coded from 2020. They all show legal tread.

The black 20” Nevis Supercharged alloys have been renovated and are in excellent condition.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

image

Bodywork

While the exterior is highly presentable, there is a minor dent above the nearside rear arch and a small imperfection on the roof; both are straightforward candidates for a paintless dent removal specialist. The bodywork displays excellent alignment with visually flush panel gaps and straight lines throughout. All doors operate correctly, though the passenger handle is slightly stiff - nevertheless, it remains fully functional.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

image

Paint

The metallic black paintwork retains an impressive lustre, having been recently professionally detailed. The finish is consistent across the entire body, though closer inspection reveals some light roadwear, including stone chips on the bonnet.

There are minor surface marks on both flanks, with more notable scratches situated on the offside front arch and the passenger door, typical of a car of this age that has been driven and enjoyed.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

image

Glass and Trim

The glass and seals remain in good condition, while all light clusters and lenses are clear and functional. Some of the exterior brightwork - including the window finishers, wing vents, and badging - exhibits mild wear and/or signs of an aftermarket paint finish.

Both the front and rear bumpers are perfectly aligned with the bodywork and remain free of any significant marks or scuffs.

image

Interior

The leather and carbon fibre cabin presents beautifully; it is clean, well-kept, and remains an evocative place to spend time.

Seats and Carpets

The vented black leather seating presents well, exhibiting natural age-related creasing and some typical wear to the driver-side bolster.

The cabin carpets are clean and well-maintained, with no evidence of moisture or dampness. The boot area remains in smart condition, with the trim and carpeting suggesting very light and careful use throughout its life.

image

Dashboard

The dashboard is well-preserved, though there are minor imperfections on the centre console’s leather padding. The carbon fibre navigation surround shows slight cosmetic damage.

All dashboard functions and switchgear are reported to be fully operational, with the exception of the air conditioning, which maybe could do with another re-gas as it is slightly weak. The dials and controls remain in good condition.

While the headlining is tidy, there is minor wear on the driver-side seat controls and a small mark on the passenger door card; otherwise, the door cards are well-presented. The interior seal at the rear nearside glass appears slightly untidy, though this is purely a cosmetic concern.

The remaining interior trim is in decent order throughout.

image

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The multifunction steering wheel is well-presented and retains a clean finish.

All integrated controls and steering-mounted functions are reported to be fully operational, with the exception of a minor intermittent issue with the volume adjustment on the audio system.

image

Mechanics

The XKR’s potent performance and finely honed chassis combine to offer a truly rewarding driving experience.

Engine and Gearbox

The 5.0-litre V8 engine starts promptly and remains remarkably stable, exhibiting no vibrations upon ignition. It settles into a smooth, consistent idle with no evidence of 'hunting' or surging. The exhaust is clear, showing only natural condensation typical of a cold start.

On the dashboard, a 'Pedestrian Safety System' warning light is present; this is understood to be a sensor fault and does not impact MOT compliance. Additionally, there is a mild actuator noise from the engine; this has been professionally inspected, and Jayden has been advised that maintaining a regular oil change schedule is the best course of action for continued management.

The engine benefits from key preventative maintenance, including a replaced alternator, a new vacuum pump, a full set of fuel injectors and the upgrading of the original plastic coolant piping to high-grade aluminium components.

The gearbox performs flawlessly, with gear changes occurring promptly and smoothly, showing no signs of hesitation or mechanical slack.

image

Suspension and Brakes

The vehicle delivers a characteristically smooth and composed ride, traversing uneven surfaces and speed bumps without any mechanical noise or compromise to comfort.

All four shocks were replaced in 2025, with OEM items.

The braking system operates with precision, remaining free of vibrations or suspension knocks. Notably, the front discs were also replaced last year, ensuring strong and consistent stopping power.

image

The Drive

During an extended drive out encompassing both heavy traffic and open roads, the XKR demonstrated the quintessential characteristics of a world-class Grand Tourer. The Supercharged engine pulls with impressive linearity and remains free of any unwanted mechanical noise, providing a soulful soundtrack that enhances rather than overwhelms the cabin ambiance.

The car remains balanced and docile at road speeds, offering a smooth, consistent power delivery across the entire rev range. Handling is sharp and flat, with no discernible body roll or suspension knocks, and the steering remains precise and compliant.

image

Electrics and Other

The vehicle’s infotainment system has been enhanced with the integration of an aftermarket SmartPhone and Bluetooth adapter, providing modern connectivity while maintaining the original interior aesthetics.

While we didn't test everything during our visit Jayden told us everything is in working order apart from the intermittent issue with the volume adjustment on the audio system and the air conditioning temperature.

History and Paperwork

The car boasts a solid service record, most recently headlined by a £2,600 maintenance bill.

First registered in March 2012 by Sidcup Jaguar, this example has remained local to the area throughout its life. Its provenance is supported by a comprehensive service record, featuring seven Jaguar main dealer stamps through to 2019, followed by three further independent specialist services.

Since acquiring the car in early 2025, Jayden has invested approximately £3,300 in maintenance. This includes new front discs and pads, fuel injectors and replacement coolant pipes. There are ebay screengrabs for 4 OEM shock absorbers and a vacuum pump. Recently treated to a fresh oil change, the car is accompanied by its original service book and a full 12-month MOT.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.
