The Range Rover was credited with creating a brand new market sector - the luxury off-roader.

When debuted in 1970, it only had three doors and a utilitarian interior. However, it's a combination of on-road comfort and off-road abilities that made it such a hit. It was produced for a whopping 27 years and featured a V8 engine with an automatic transmission which was awarded for its high-quality build and robustness.

Mike took ownership of the Range Rover in 2019, and since has dry-stored the car in his heated garage. This particular example is in good usable condition, finished in a luxurious deep Trocadero Red with classy and comfortable grey cloth seats, and a detailed service history file.

Meet the owner

I'm a keen 4x4 enthusiast with a passion for Range Rovers - this has been a great local runaround but it's time to find it a new home.

Mike has really enjoyed his time owning this classic Range Rover, due to health, he was not able to use it as much as he was hoping, and since ownership has stored the car in his heated garage for safekeeping.

Due to lack of use, Mike has decided to part with the car and hand it over to a like-minded Range Rover enthusiast to enjoy.

A timeless boxy body finished in a majestic Trocadero Red - the Range Rover is recognized worldwide as the ultimate luxury SUV.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted to this luxury 4x4 monster is unmissable three-spoke 16" classic Range Rover wheels with matching Bridgestone tyres all around.

The alloys are in great condition - with the smallest of curb marks. The large and very capable tyres also looks in great condition with lots of life left in each tyre.

Bodywork

The Range Rover features a timeless body shape that only gets better with age, and this example looks like a lovely square and straight example.

The bodywork on the car looks really sounds with some small areas for improvement. There are some very small dings on the bonnet, and some very minor areas of bubbling starting to show around the front N/S arch, and rear O/S arch. A small patch of bubbling can also be found on the rear tailgate - we think all very straight forward to resolve.

Importantly, all the panel gaps look good along with all the shut lines.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the bodywork condition for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in a deep and luxurious Trocadero Red, the paintwork looks good and really helps this classic 'Rangie' stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons.

The finish looks good and deep in lustre around the car, there are a few age related marks, e.g. some light scratches on the rear boot. We believe a detailed machine polish would improve the paint condition significantly.

Glass and Trim

The glass and trim are in great condition and look to match the mileage and age of this SUV.

The glass looks free from damage and very clean all around. The trim and rubber seals also look great too, maintaining their original colour.

Interior

A new era of sophistication - the Range Rover features a host of high-quality wood, cloth seats, and electric motors.

Seats and Carpets

The interior of this car looks excellent and has been really well kept by Mike and its previous owners. The cloth seats have held up really well over previous ownership. We didn't notice any sagging or rips in the seats and carpets.

Dashboard

The dashboard appears in excellent condition, in line with the rest of the interior.

Mike reports all the dials, gauges, and electrics are working correctly as they should.

The 'ABS' light is currently on, as seen in the mechanical video, Mike tells us this goes off when you drive the car.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Simple yet elegant, the steering wheel puts you in full control of the mighty 3.9-litre.

Both the gear stick and steering wheel look in great condition too - in line with its age.

Mechanics

Built to tackle the toughest terrain - the Range Rover offers luxurious cruising where other vehicles dare not to venture.

Engine and Gearbox

For 1989, the detuned Buick-derived Rover V8 engine was increased to a displacement of 3,947cc.

The 3.9-litre injected V8 started at the turn of a key and runs smoothly without any noises creeping in that shouldn't be there. Coupled with an automatic gearbox, Mike reports the changes are smooth and trouble free.

Suspension and Brakes

Mike assures us the car's braking system works as expected.

The Drive

Perhaps you're looking for a city runabout, or maybe you want an SUV for a European off-road adventure - this car manages to do it all; in style, grace, comfort, and power.

Mike reports that this car drives just as it should - no issue to report from him.

Electrics and Other

An impressive feast of electric features. Mike has kept the car fully standard with the original heater, clock and radio.

History and Paperwork

A lovely Range Rover Classic with all the right ingredients; Vogue, UK RHD and in Trocadero Red really makes this truly desirable classic.

A good history file with the service book is present and descriptive in previous work carried out.

The car appears to rack up the majority of its mileage during the first 10 years of ownership until it was then used a lot less frequently, and serviced by the previous owners themselves. These services are well documented in the media pack below.

Mike took ownership of the car in 2019, and then had several parts amended on the car, the car comes with a fresh MOT which expires May 2023.
