‘WAITING FOR THAT DAY’…it has arrived! You now have the chance to own a Range Rover Vogue that was once owned by George Michael.

Marking the beginning of the third-generation Range Rover (L322), a model that significantly raised the standards of luxury and refinement for the brand. Developed during Land Rover's ownership by BMW, combining traditional Range Rover off-road capability with a far more sophisticated driving experience.

Inside, the Vogue offered a level of comfort previously unseen in Range Rovers. Soft leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and an advanced sound system created a luxurious environment.

Performance comes from a 4.4-litre BMW-sourced V8 petrol engine producing around 282bhp and 324 lb-ft of torque, delivering smooth, effortless performance and making the vehicle particularly comfortable on long motorway journeys. This is well-matched to a smooth five-speed automatic gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive.

One of the vehicle's standout features is its electronic air suspension, which can raise or lower the ride height depending on road conditions. This system, combined with advanced traction control and a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system, allowed the Range Rover to remain exceptionally capable off-road while maintaining a smooth and composed ride on the road.

The Vogue remains one of the most iconic and luxurious Range Rovers ever produced. Its elegant design, commanding road presence, and high-quality interior helped establish it as one of the most desirable luxury SUVs of its era.

This example comes with superstar status, as it was purchased new by George Michael. Our vendor tells us that it then went into ownership of George's father, then back to George It was subsequently sold to the previous owner, a trader who purchased it directly from George, and laid it up in dry storage. It was then sold to our vendor - who is a huge fan - in 2017.

"I’m a huge George Michael fan: what could be better than owning his actual vehicle?”

Ebrahim came across the Range Rover Vogue for sale in 2017 and jumped at the chance to own the car of one of his musical icons.

Since owning the Range Rover, it hasn’t been used an enormous amount. Last year, Ebrahim decided other cars in his collection needed to be stored undercover, and it was time to part company with the Range Rover, which was tried with another auction company. Unfortunately, the sale didn't complete (we are told this was not due to the car itself: there was a dispute with the auction house about reserve changes), and now, with space more of a priority, it's time to try again and let someone else have the rare opportunity to own a celebrity-status vehicle.

Exterior

‘OUTSIDE’ the Range Rover is a classic design, with the Vogue being the crème de la crème.

Wheels and Tyres

The original five-spoke alloy wheels are in relatively good condition, with just a few kerb marks that could easily be rectified by your local wheel refurbisher.

The tyres are a matching set, which do have a good amount of tread remaining; but there are some signs of light cracking in places.

Please take the time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels and tyres, so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn or over 10 years old.

Bodywork

The bodywork on the Range Rover looks to be in good condition. The panel gaps appear to be equal and all the doors, boot, and bonnet open as they should.

There are a couple of very minor dings, typical of a car of this age: especially one that spent a lot of time living in London.

Paint

Finished in the lovely 'Oslo Blue' metallic, the paintwork presents well. There are some chips and the odd scratch noted, which are in keeping with a used vehicle that no doubt had the odd paparazzi camera banging against it at some point.

Some of the paint on the silver door handles has started to come off in places.

Glass and Trim

All of the windows are in good condition, with only some light age-related marks, as expected for their age.

There is some corrosion under the plastic coating of the rear passenger window scraper, which could be easily replaced if required, although it doesn’t affect the window operation. The electric sunroof operates correctly with no issues reported.

The front and rear light lenses are in good order with no splits or cracks. The only issue we spotted is the rear reflector on the passenger side, which does have a piece missing.

Interior

Enter the luxury Range Rover, and you’ll soon be ‘SPINNING THE WHEEL’.

Seats and Carpets

The original electric, heated, charcoal-grey leather is in good condition. There is some age-related creasing to the driver's seat, in keeping with the age and mileage.

On the passenger side, the chrome coating on the handle has started to lift with age.

All four door panels are in good condition with no real signs of scuffs or damage. The carpets throughout are in excellent condition and the factory mats are in place, again in excellent condition with minimal signs of age.

The headlining is clean and tidy but has become unstuck from the headlining board at the rear.

Inside the boot, the spare alloy wheel is in place along with the jack.

Dashboard

The leather-topped dashboard is in good condition with no damage spotted.

Some of the silver trim panels are showing signs of age but could easily be repainted if desired.

The instruments are working correctly with no warning lights displayed, and the odometer shows just ~79,774 miles.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a leather steering wheel, which is in good order with minimal signs of age. The buttons are also in good condition, with no wear noted to the lettering.

The automatic leather gear knob is also in good condition with no signs of heavy use.

Mechanics

You’ll have plenty of ‘FAITH’, sitting behind the wheel of your V8-powered Range Rover Vogue.

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with the glorious BMW-bred 4.4-litre V8 powerhouse, which fires up without hesitation and runs with no issues, according to the vendor.

Mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox, the change is smooth, and the Range Rover pulls strongly through the range.

We are advised that, as is common with these cars, the gearbox inhibitor switch does occasionally serve up a transmission error, putting the car into limp mode. In the short term, switching the car off and moving the gearstick back and forth clears this, but a replacement inhibitor switch will be needed at some point. The owner says this has not occurred under his ownership as he's barely used the car, and it didn't occur while we were present.

Suspension and Brakes

With a fresh MOT, the Range Rover has no reported issues with the suspension or brakes.

On our run out in the Range Rover, there were no knocks or bangs from any corner, and it came to a stop in a straight line with no juddering through the pedal.

This classic luxury SUV combines strong off-road capability with a smooth, powerful driving experience. The V8 engine delivers effortless acceleration and a distinctive rumbling exhaust note.

The luxurious, plush interior feels comfortable and refined on long journeys. A blend of traditional Range Rover comfort, character, and all-terrain ability makes it a fantastic vehicle to own and drive.

Electrics and Other

A completely original interior features all the tech you could have asked for in 2002. The switchgear looks to be in good order and is reportedly working correctly.

The only thing mentioned was that the air conditioning doesn’t blow as cold as it once did and will need to be re-gassed.

History and Paperwork

The car comes with photographs of George Michael singing in his Range Rover and out shopping - what a great piece of history.

The handbooks are present, along with some old MOT certificates and an HPI report showing the original registration plate plus the original Stratstone of Mayfair service book before it was moved to the current registration, which is also noted on the HPI report.

There is a great selection of photographs showing George Michael in and out of the car, in which the registration number can be clearly seen. To top it off, there's a copy of the old V5C showing his birth name.

A fantastic opportunity to buy a celebrity-owned vehicle which, in reality, is low mileage. Perfect for any Range Rover enthusiast or, as with our vendor, a George Michael fan.

    Lovely example. Just one question as I’d hate to Wake Me Up Before I Go-Go into the ULEZ and get stung. Is it compliant?

    Thank you for the interest and using one of George’s early song’s. I have just checked regretfully it is not ULEZ compliant. I think all the BMW engine ones are same.

    What is your reserve policy?

    A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

    If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

    Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

    Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

    Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

    Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes.
