Introduction

Ex-Harrods corporate taxi with a bespoke green leather and wood interior - not a standard working cab. Just over 33,000 miles on the clock, and the partition and jump seats remain in place.

I’ve owned this cab for four years. It came to me as an ex-Harrods corporate taxi, with the bespoke green leather and wood interior already fitted. I’ve kept it as a private car rather than a working cab.

This is a privately-specified London taxi with department-store provenance and a rare cab.

I’m selling because I no longer use it enough to justify the space. It needs someone who will enjoy it - as a collection piece, a promotional car, or a private runaround.

Market Auction

Nicholas, the seller, has created this listing themselves using our free Market Auction tool. Unlike our Curated Auctions, we haven’t photographed the car or written the listing, however we have completed 3 important security checks for your peace of mind.

Exterior

The unmistakable London taxi in black, with chrome caps and a Harrods corporate past. It's rare to find one in this condition and this specification - here you have an opportunity to own the arrival, the theatre of that door opening, and a piece of London people remember.

Wheels and Tyres

The taxi sits on the original-style chrome hubcaps, which still present well and finish the car properly. There is only the lightest kerbing, nothing that takes away from the look. No aftermarket wheels; it still appears as supplied by Mann & Overton in 2006.

Tyres are Dunlop SP Taxi - the correct spec - and they are in great shape, with strong tread and even wear in line with private use.

Bodywork

The body presents as a carefully kept TXII Gold: straight panels, even gaps and the correct London-cab stance.

For a 2006 taxi with just over 33,000 miles it looks privately used, not worn out on the street. A small area of rust at the rear side-window surround has been treated. It is local and already attended to, but it is visible on close inspection and should be allowed for.

The rest of the shell shows only light service marks - faint scratches and the odd stone chip consistent with genuine use. There are no obvious large dents or signs of accident repair.

Taken as a whole, the bodywork is honest and presentable: good paint and structure for the age, with one small, disclosed repair at the rear window.

Paint

Original solid black, as supplied by Mann & Overton in 2006. The colour is even, with a good depth of shine that still does the silhouette justice.

There are light service scratches and a few stone chips on the nose, leading edges and door areas - normal for a used London taxi, and they do not spoil the overall finish. The only local disruption is at the treated rust on the rear side-window surround. Elsewhere the paint is consistent and well-kept, low mileage taxi.

Glass and Trim

All glass is intact. The rear windows have the original tint specified on the 2006 Mann & Overton invoice, still even and in keeping with the private-spec cabin.

Brightwork is complete: chrome door handles, hubcaps and the usual TXII fittings, with the taxi sign still on the roof. It presents itself as a properly dressed London cab.

On the rear doors the plastic window trim has some lifting and bubbling. It is a straightforward part swap and does not affect the glass itself. Seals elsewhere look serviceable, with only light ageing.

Interior

Step in and it stops being a taxi. Bespoke green leather, Wilton carpets, and walnut are fitted throughout - the Harrods corporate spec from new.

Partition, jump seats, and the extra occasional seat are still there. This cabin is the reason to want this car.

Seats and Carpets

This is the heart of the car. From new it was specified with executive rear leather, a leather driver’s seat, a front occasional leather seat, an extra occasional seat, and Wilton carpet packs front and rear.

That is what you still see: green leather throughout and matching green Wilton underfoot. The hide presents well - light creasing from private use rather than the collapsed wear of a working cab.

Jump seats and the occasional front seat are still in place and usable.

Carpets look clean and correctly fitted.

Door cards and headlining are complete and in keeping with the rest of the cabin.

No major rips or stains are apparent in the photographs. It still feels like the commissioned interior on the 2006 invoice, which is rare.

Dashboard

Walnut cappings and wood veneer were specified from new, and they are still the first thing you notice.

The dash top is trimmed in the same green leather as the seats, so the cabin reads as one piece rather than a standard TXII.

Switches and controls all work, including the driver intercom through the partition.

No cracked plastic, no missing buttons, and no obvious fading on the wood in the photographs. It is a used 2006 dash, so there is light handling wear around the wheel and column, but nothing that breaks the private-spec look.

Functionally it does what it should, which matters as much as the appearance.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Both are the original fittings. The steering wheel is trimmed in the same green leather as the cabin. There is fading and polish on the rim from hand contact, exactly where you would expect after twenty years. It is honest wear, not a tear or a badly repaired wheel.

The automatic gear selector shows the usual shine and light wear for the age. It still engages cleanly and matches the rest of the interior rather than looking like a later replacement. Neither item spoils the cabin, but both show that the car has been driven.

Mechanics

It starts readily, everything works, and it drives as a London taxi should - upright, unhurried, and utterly sure-footed. No drama, no surprises: a properly usable TXII Gold that still does the simple job of moving people with that familiar cab feel.

Engine and Gearbox

2.4-litre diesel automatic, as supplied new by Mann & Overton on the TXII Gold - the same tough Ford Transit-based unit these cabs were built around. It has a reputation for lasting and lasting if looked after, which suits a taxi that was specified for private rather than hire use.

It starts readily from cold or hot and settles into the usual idle. No smoke or warning lights reported in current use.

The automatic gearbox is smooth and unhurried, exactly as you would expect.

Suspension and Brakes

Both are in good shape and match how the cab drives. The ride is the familiar taxi gait - upright, composed and settled even over poor surfaces - with no knocks, clonks, or wandering reported.

Brakes feel as they should: progressive, straight and reassuring at normal speeds. Nothing has been flagged.

The Drive

This is still a London taxi first, and that is the pleasure of it. You sit high, the turning circle is as useful as ever, and it goes down the road in that unhurried, planted way only a purpose-built cab does.

It starts on the button, pulls cleanly and rides as a well-kept TXII should. Nothing flashy - just calm, easy progress that makes sense in town and is perfectly happy on a longer run.

Passengers get the theatre of the green leather cabin; the driver gets a simple, honest motor car. With the private Harrods-corporate past, it feels like a cab that was used properly and then looked after. That is the drive: familiar, usable and rather good fun!

Electrics and Other

The electrical system does what it should in daily use: lights, windows, intercom and the usual cab functions all work. There are no warning lights or dead circuits reported when the car is being driven.

When it is standing, a battery isolator is fitted. The stereo has a small parasitic drain, which is a known nuisance rather than a fault with the car’s main loom. The isolator simply disconnects the battery between outings so it stays fresh. Turn it back on and everything wakes up as normal. For a 2006 TXII with extra cabin equipment that is a sensible habit, not a project.

Electrically it is usable and straightforward.

History and Paperwork

It was supplied new in 2006 by Mann & Overton to Hyde Park Residence on Park Lane as a Harrods corporate TXII Gold. The invoice totals £54,120 - over £20,000 was spent on factory extras, including leather, Wilton carpets, walnut, and occasional seats, still exactly as specified.

Mileage is evidenced by the MOT file from 2011 to 2024 and matches just over 33,000 now: 12,104, 16,482, 20,545, 25,195, 27,307, 27,763, 28,506, 29,664, 31,462, 32,879, 33,053, 33,072, 33,192 and 33,228 (August 2024). Recent tests show only a few hundred miles in recent years. Where advisories appear they are the minor “monitor if necessary” notes that still allow a pass - things such as slight play in a front wheel bearing or a small oil weep. Nothing in the file is a failure.
The car is currently SORN. The last MOT expired in September 2025. We are happy to put a fresh MOT on it upon successful sale.

The most important document is the original Mann and Overton new-vehicle invoice of May 2006, made out to Bocardo SA / Hyde Park Residence Ltd, 55 Park Lane. It confirms the TXII Gold specification and the factory extras - leather, Wilton carpets, walnut, and occasional seats - totalling £54,120. In 2026 money that is ~£96,000. That Park Lane invoice is the paper trail for its life as a Harrods corporate taxi. A London Taxi Company invoice dated 4 June 2013 at 20,757 miles, again billed to Hyde Park Residence Ltd, for a drive-belt pulley, front brake pads and an offside-rear wheel cylinder (£341.10). This supports the Harrods-corporate connection and show period maintenance. Other service paperwork is limited.

This is a straightforward sale of the taxi as it stands. What you see in the photographs and description is what is being offered: the 2006 LTI TXII Gold, its bespoke interior, the original-style chrome caps, and the history file we have - including the Mann & Overton supply invoice and the MOT papers. It is sold as seen. There is no separate cache of spare parts, no extra set of wheels, and no promise of further work beyond our offer to put a fresh MOT on the car upon successful sale. Please view or ask questions before bidding so there are no surprises. It is an honest, as-is sale of a privately kept Harrods-corporate taxi, in original condition.

From Trade Classics:
This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price a seller is willing to accept for their vehicle. We work closely with sellers to set realistic reserves that reflect current market values — we don’t take on vehicles with inflated or unrealistic expectations.

If the reserve isn’t met when the auction ends, we’ll work with the highest bidder to try and agree a deal with the seller.

Whether the reserve has been met may / may not be disclosed during the auction — just like a traditional auction house. Bidders usually find out if they’ve won only when the auction ends.

    As a guide:
    – If you’re able to place a second bid, the reserve hasn’t been met.
    – If you attempt to outbid yourself and the system blocks it, then the reserve has been met.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.

Network Connection – your device may lose connection and you’re not able to bid, or see the latest bidding history.
