A superb example of Maserati’s elegant four-seat grand tourer, presenting remarkably well throughout and accompanied by invoices documenting regular servicing and recent maintenance.

Designed by Pininfarina, the GranTurismo combined the flowing proportions of an Italian sports car with the comfort, refinement and genuine passenger space expected from a long-distance GT. The GranTurismo S added a larger 4.7-litre V8, delivering both stronger performance and an unmistakable exhaust note.

This 2011 GranTurismo S is equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission, allowing it to provide relaxed progress when touring while still giving the driver manual control through the substantial steering-wheel paddles.

Finished in a deep metallic blue with a contrasting cream leather interior, the car has a particularly sophisticated specification. The cabin also features a wood-and-leather steering wheel, blue-faced instruments, dark carpeting and extensive leather trim. The private plate currently on the car is not included in the sale, it will revert to its original plate.

Meet the owner

I had wanted a Maserati for close to 30 years - initially it was the Quattroporte that caught my attention, but as time went on, the GranTurismo became the car I really wanted to own.

John purchased the GranTurismo approximately six months ago, fulfilling a long-held ambition to own a Maserati.

He had admired the marque for almost 30 years, initially being drawn to the Quattroporte before the GranTurismo’s combination of dramatic styling, V8 performance and long-distance comfort captured his attention.

John acquired the car primarily for journeys to his home in France. He reports that it is exceptionally well suited to continental touring, where quieter roads provide an opportunity to enjoy its performance, refinement and soundtrack.

During his ownership, John has continued to look after the Maserati carefully. The suspension has received new bushes, all four alloy wheels have been refurbished and the front brake discs and pads have recently been replaced. Invoices are available for the work undertaken.

The car was described to John at the time of purchase as a GranTurismo S “Extra Campionario”. John has not personally verified this description, and prospective buyers are encouraged to review the accompanying documents and make their own enquiries.

John is selling because he is moving house and will no longer have sufficient space to keep the car. The busy roads around Tunbridge Wells also provide few opportunities to appreciate the abilities of such a capable grand tourer.

Finished in a rich metallic blue, the GranTurismo presents exceptionally well and shows off its elegant Pininfarina-designed bodywork beautifully.

Wheels and Tyres

The Maserati is fitted with its distinctive 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, accompanied by polished centre caps carrying the Trident emblem.

All four wheels have been refurbished during John’s ownership and consequently present to an excellent standard. Their bright silver finish contrasts attractively against the deep blue bodywork and complements the chrome exterior detailing.

Large drilled brake discs can be seen through the slender spokes, reinforcing the sporting character of the GranTurismo S. The front discs and pads have recently been replaced.

The tyres appear to retain a suitable level of tread and present well overall.

Please take time to review the photos and videos for a detailed view of the exterior, wheels, and tyres so you can make your own assessment of their condition. Tyres are a key safety item, and you should consider replacing any that are cracked, perished, unevenly worn, or over 10 years old.

Bodywork

The GranTurismo’s bodywork is in exceptional condition and gives the impression of a car considerably younger than its registration date might suggest.

The long bonnet, flowing roofline and muscular rear haunches combine to create one of the most distinctive grand-touring shapes of its generation. Traditional Maserati details include the prominent front grille, three vents on each front wing and four exhaust outlets.

The panels appear straight throughout, with excellent-looking shut lines around the bonnet, doors and boot. We did not notice any significant dents or areas of bodywork damage during our visit.

The doors, bonnet and boot all appeared to open and close correctly, while the exterior fittings remain neatly aligned.

Paint

The deep metallic blue paintwork presents beautifully, retaining an excellent gloss and displaying the curves of the Pininfarina bodywork particularly effectively.

The colour appears consistent across the car, with the metallic finish changing subtly according to the available light. It provides an elegant alternative to the more commonly encountered black, silver or grey finishes and works especially well with the cream leather cabin.

No notable scratches, chips or areas of deterioration were apparent during our visit. Inevitably, very small signs of use may become visible under close inspection, but the overall standard is outstanding for a car of this age.

Glass and Trim

The exterior glass, lights, lenses, badges and surrounding trim all present to a similarly high standard.

The headlamp lenses appear clear, while the rear light units retain their strong colour and show no obvious damage. The windscreen and side glass also appear clear, with the surrounding seals and trim looking carefully preserved.

The Trident emblems, GranTurismo badging and Pininfarina signatures are all present.

The exterior mirrors and their painted housings also present very well, with no significant marks noted during our visit.

Interior

The cream leather interior is in outstanding condition, combining Italian craftsmanship with the comfort and space expected from a genuine grand tourer.

Seats and Carpets

The sculpted front seats are upholstered in cream leather and present exceptionally well.

Both seats retain their shape, supportive bolsters and neatly stitched centre panels. We did not notice any significant marks, staining or excessive wear during our visit, and even the frequently used outer bolsters remain remarkably well preserved.

The front seats are electrically adjustable, allowing the driver and passenger to find a comfortable position for longer journeys.

Unlike many similarly styled coupés, the GranTurismo provides two properly formed rear seats rather than a token occasional bench. These are trimmed to the same high standard as those in the front and appear to have seen very little use.

Cream leather continues across the door cards, centre console and lower dashboard, while dark carpeting provides a practical and attractive contrast. The carpets present very well throughout, with no notable damage or heavy wear apparent.

The overall condition of the upholstery is exceptional and reflects the car’s low indicated mileage.

Dashboard

The sweeping dashboard is trimmed in a combination of cream and dark leather, with metallic detailing used across the centre section.

A traditional Maserati analogue clock occupies a prominent position between the central air vents, while the infotainment and satellite-navigation screen is positioned immediately below.

The blue-faced instruments provide a particularly attractive detail and complement the car’s exterior colour. The central display showed approximately 22,115 miles during our visit.

The dashboard, switchgear and surrounding trim are all in excellent condition. The buttons and rotary controls retain clear markings, while the leather remains free from notable marks or deterioration.

The centre console houses the infotainment controls, dual-zone climate settings and various driving functions, all arranged within easy reach of the driver.

The passenger side carries a GranTurismo S emblem, providing a subtle reminder that this is the larger-engined performance model.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A beautifully finished wood-and-leather multifunction steering wheel is fitted.

The polished wood rim provides an especially elegant contrast against the cream leather centre and dark dashboard, while integrated controls allow the driver to operate various functions without removing their hands from the wheel.

Large metal gear-change paddles are mounted behind the steering wheel, allowing manual control of the six-speed automatic transmission when desired.

Both the leather and wood sections present extremely well, with no significant wear apparent during our visit.

The automatic gear selector is also trimmed in cream leather and topped with a polished metal insert carrying the Maserati emblem. It sits within a neatly finished centre console alongside the electronic parking brake and cupholders.

The selector and its surrounding trim are in excellent condition and remain consistent with the outstanding presentation found throughout the cabin.

Mechanics

The naturally aspirated 4.7-litre V8 is central to the GranTurismo S experience, combining effortless performance with one of the most memorable exhaust notes fitted to a modern grand tourer.

Engine and Gearbox

The GranTurismo S is powered by a 4.7-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine driving the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

During our visit, the engine performed extremely well. It started readily, settled into a smooth idle and responded cleanly when the accelerator was pressed.

The sound is undoubtedly one of the car’s defining characteristics. At lower engine speeds, the V8 remains refined enough for relaxed touring, but under acceleration it produces the rich and purposeful soundtrack for which this generation of Maserati has become renowned.

The engine bay presents very well, with the large Maserati-branded intake manifold, red detailing and surrounding components all appearing clean and carefully maintained.

The six-speed automatic gearbox allows the car to make smooth and unhurried progress when left in automatic mode. Manual control is also available through the substantial paddles behind the steering wheel, giving the driver greater involvement when the road allows.

No specific concerns relating to the engine or transmission were reported during our visit.

Suspension and Brakes

The steering and suspension performed well during our time with the car.

New suspension bushes have been fitted during John’s ownership, helping ensure that the Maserati continues to feel composed and precise. No specific steering or suspension concerns were raised during our visit.

The steering feels appropriately weighted for a substantial grand tourer, providing a reassuring sense of stability at speed while remaining manageable during lower-speed driving.

The brakes also performed confidently. Importantly, the front brake discs and pads have recently been replaced, with invoices available to support the work.

The drilled discs and large calipers provide stopping performance appropriate to the power and weight of the car. We noticed no obvious pulling or unwanted vibration during our drive.

Overall, the steering, suspension and braking systems contributed to the impression of a well-maintained and carefully used example.

The Drive

The GranTurismo S succeeds in combining the character of an Italian sports car with the comfort and refinement of a genuine long-distance grand tourer.

At lower speeds, the automatic gearbox, comfortable seats and refined cabin make the Maserati easy to enjoy. The engine delivers its power smoothly, while the suspension provides a composed balance between control and comfort.

On a more open road, the car reveals a different side to its personality. The 4.7-litre V8 responds eagerly, the steering feels positive and the large paddle shifters give the driver direct control over the gearbox.

The V8 soundtrack builds as the engine speed rises and provides a sense of occasion that few contemporary grand tourers can match.

Electrics and Other

The GranTurismo is equipped with satellite navigation, an infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats, parking sensors and electrically operated windows and mirrors.

The central instrument display provides information relating to the transmission, parking sensors and other vehicle functions. The dashboard also retains the traditional Maserati analogue clock.

No specific electrical concerns were reported to us during our visit. The controls and equipment inspected appeared to present well and remain consistent with the excellent condition of the wider cabin.

History and Paperwork

The Maserati comes with a substantial collection of invoices documenting regular servicing, maintenance and previous expenditure.

Although the service book has not been stamped, the accompanying invoices provide supporting evidence that the car has received regular attention, it was serviced just before John bought the car in May. Prospective buyers should inspect the paperwork gallery carefully to review the dates, recorded mileages and precise details of the work completed.

John has owned the GranTurismo for approximately six months. During that time, he has commissioned a number of worthwhile maintenance and cosmetic jobs:

New suspension bushes
New front brake discs and pads
Refurbishment of all four alloy wheels
Additional minor work documented within the accompanying invoices

The odometer indicated approximately 22,115 miles during our visit.

This represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a low-mileage GranTurismo S Automatic with outstanding presentation, recent maintenance and an invoice-supported history.

Air Con works perfectly

Buttons aren’t sticky but the temp + and – ones are commensurate with their age

No leather shrinkage that I can see or find

All works that I have had undertaken have been done by a Maserati independant garage who only carry out Maserati works
