A fine example of an R107 that has been cared for. This automatic convertible is owned by Tim in Wallingford. These particular R107’s are in high demand at the moment and this has to be one of the best examples we have had the pleasure of visiting – we are very excited.

We can help arrange transportation for our sales, delivering anywhere in the UK or mainland Europe – please see happy customers in our reviews that we’ve helped.

Recent Buyer Review – Simon Welsh on 1st May “Found my ideal 90’s sports car on Trade Classics. Living in Bournemouth and the car being in the Midlands I relied heavily on the advert, photos and videos.

On picking the car up I wasn’t disappointed. Everything was as it had been described. So I got straight into it and drove home. What a drive put a smile on my face.

Thanks very much Trade Classics and I’m now looking out for my next classic to add to the collection.”.

Tim is a great guy, he absolutely adores his Mercedes and calls it one of the loves of his life. Tim has owned this excellent example for that last ten years and has cared for it very well. As he was abroad with work for a couple years he had it dry stored to avoid any corrosion and has very much used it as a pleasure drive ever since.

He is really reluctant about selling, but as he has just had an operation which has restricted his movement, he knows that a new owner needs to take the reigns in order for this car to get the love and attention it deserves. He jokes with Darren at one point and mentions how he once parked his car in an allocated spot at a car show only for people to say, “you’re in the wrong area if you’re part of the show” – That is quite the compliment!

Tim was extremely diligent with his purchase, taking around four months to find the right one. Please watch the ‘Meet the Owner’ video as Tim takes us around his local area and talk about him catching the classic car bug. We know exactly what he is talking about because we are all infected with it at Trade Classics.

Please watch our ‘Exterior Review’ video as Darren works his way around the car meticulously. It is set in a beautiful shade of white that is overall in excellent condition. The car comes with a fully functional soft top and colour-matching hardtop for those colder days. Tim states in the ‘On the Road’ video there has been minor cosmetic work under his ownership and will be talked about below.

Wheels & Tyres
Fitted with a full set of 205/65/15 Michelin Energy tyres with very good tread. The Wheels look to be the original you tend to see on R107’s and are in excellent condition. Wheel arches look rot and rust free on our visit.

Upon our visit we were really happy with the condition of the vehicle’s bodywork. It is exceptional with no panel damage. Tim commissioned some cosmetic work such as removing scratches from bodywork as well as cleaning and treating the sills in order to minimise the risk of bubbling. Both hard top and soft top are in excellent condition.

The paintwork looks stunning – a touch a class that is in excellent condition, really shines in the sun. It is worth noting a slight chip on the flat rear panel near the hood that has been pointed out in the video and photos.

Glass and Trim
Glass and trim is in excellent condition.

The colour scheme is stunning – we love how the blue interior beautifully contrasts with the cool white paint. Please watch the ‘Interior Review’ video – as you get into the driver’s side you are treated with that classic R107 layout that many of us have grown to love; leather look, tidy dashboard, wooden centre console and beautiful chrome parts – quintessential classic.

Seats and Carpets
These blue seats are in excellent condition for a car of this mileage, we are really impressed. Carpets are in a fair, clean condition.

The gauges and interior are in very good condition, as can be seen in the media file. The gauges are clean and work as expected.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Classic Mercedes steering wheel that is in good condition. The automatic gear stick will give you a relaxed drive.

Tim and Darren cruise through the local area of Oxfordshire and looked really comfortable, as can be seen in the ‘Meet the Owner’ and ‘On the Road’ videos.

Engine and Gearbox
The car started first go from cold – troubles with the camera meant we didn’t get the car start, but as you can see by the temperature gauge it starts first time and slowly settles into a smooth tick over.

Suspension and Brakes
You expect the suspension in R107’s to help you guide effortlessly through bumpy roads and as can be seen in the video, this is the case. Tim states that there is a slight squeak in the brakes which cannot be heard in the video.

The Drive
The drive was great and extremely comfortable. This car looks great and feels great to either drive or be a passenger in.

Electrics and Other
Tim assures us all the electrics work as expected along with all buttons and switches being great condition.

Tim bought the car just over ten years ago and has enjoyed it for weekend leisurely drives meaning the condition has been maintained well and dry-stored when not in use.

There is a limited history with the car prior to Tim’s ownership but has kept a good record since then. Tim states he has taken it to Mercedes-Benz specialists in Reading to get checked every time. Please review MOT history and all the paperwork at the bottom of the media file that comes with this fine example.

The R107 is continually becoming more popular in the classic car market, especially automatics. The styling and comfortable drive combined give you an experience that you can’t get with cars of today.

Tim called this one of the loves of his life and will be sad to see it go, but like we said earlier he cannot give it the love and attention this beautiful exmaple truly deserves and we are determined to find that owner.

Tim knows the market and has priced this 300 SL competitively for someone else to adore and enjoy.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Tim the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.
