A modern classic in the making, the CL600 (C215) is Mercedes-Benz's most exclusive luxury coupe with a stonking 5.8L V12 under the hood.

The Mercedes-Benz CL600 is a well-equipped luxury grand tourer, powered by the 5.8-litre 'M137' naturally aspirated V12 which produces ~362BHP coupled to a five-speed auto.

This is the second generation CL (C215) and is based on the S-Class (W220) chassis, however all important 8-inches shorter wheelbase. The car comes equipped with the very latest Mercedes-Benz technology such as the refined "Active Body Control", fully active suspension system, and Bi-Xenon HID lights.

This particular example is coming to market from ~7 year ownership, just 2 former keepers and in a beautiful colourway, this spec of pillarless coupe costed over £130,000 when new.

I love sourcing high-quality performance cars - this CL600 is a personal favourite of mine.

This second-generation CL600 has just two previous owners, fully-spec'd, powered by the top of the range 5.8L V12. Coming to sale from Darren a trade seller, the previous owner had the car for ~7 years and just one owner before.

It's a car that was fully spec'd when new, top of the range seats that have cooling as well as heating and massage features, TV, sunroof, extended wood trim. Feel free to ask any questions you have about the car in the comments below.

A sleek and luxurious package, the CL600 is an exotic grand tourer made for winding European roads.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with Mercedes-Benz 5-Spoke AMG alloys, they look in great condition and appear free from curbing or major marks. Fitted with new Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres that look to have an excellent amount of tread.

Bodywork

The curvaceous era of grand tourers, we love the noughties shape the C215 offers. All the bodywork looks great on this particular example with all the panel gaps looking tight and true on visual inspection.

These pillarless coupes look so good with the windows down. This example benefits from a sunroof too, to really give the cabin an airy feeling when opened up. Please view the extensive videos and photographs to see the condition in detail.

Paint

The car is finished in a lovely Mercedes-Benz colour of "Almandine Black". It has an almost deep purple tint from certain angles. The car has had fresh paintwork applied to the front bumper, bonnet, wings, passenger side, and A-pillar some time ago. It still looks great today with just some very small stone chips and marks to the rear bumper.

The paint looks even in finish and colour across all the panels. Please take the time to review the photographs and videos to appreciate the condition and colour of the paint.

Glass and Trim

Double glazing as standard, the glass looks to be in great condition all around. The brightwork trim/rubber seals look good too and in line with the rest of the car.

Interior

Full leather trim and an extremely well-equipped cabin make this GT a absolute joy to travel in.

Seats and Carpets

We really like the look of the comfortable leather seats the CL600 offers. The seats have all the gadgets; full electric adjustment, memory function, massage function, heated, cooled. The seats are in good condition in the front and the back, with a few very minor creases in the leather that give it that genuine long-lasting Mercedes-Benz look.

The rear seats, door cards, hardtop, and carpets all look in good condition inline with the rest of the interior.

Dashboard

As with the rest of the car, a really nice soft-leather example. A clean and smart dashboard and instrument cluster. Additionally, a retro phone straight from 2002 can be found mounted in the glove box.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A classic 4-spoke Mercedes-Benz steering wheel in the optimum position for the driver to take full control of this luxury GT.

Both the steering wheel and gearstick are in a condition you would expect from this car - we didn't observe and excessive signs of wear and tear and both items present smartly. Wood trim to both items, the gearstick also features the start/stop button for the ignition system.

Mechanics

The main attraction and powerhouse behind the CL600, a 60-degree SOHC 36-valve 5.8L V12 that pumps out ~362BHP.

Engine and Gearbox

The CL600 warps to 60MPH in just 5.7 seconds and hits the electronic speed limited at 130MPH. Pretty impressive when you think about the lavish interior and double glazing the car carries. Thanks to the cylinder-deactivation system this V12 drinks less too offering a ~20% fuel-economy gain.

Darren reports both the engine and gearbox are smooth in operation. Please view the cold start video to see the car fire up the first time and take a closer look around the engine bay and see underneath the car.

Suspension and Brakes

The car is fitted with ABS and disc brakes all around, combined with hydraulic suspension - the C215 offers a very comfortable ride on every journey.

Maintenance on the brakes and suspension has been carried out in line with the schedule the owner tells us, ensuring that everything works as expected.

A luxurious and comforting ride awaits the new custodian of this lovely CL600.

You won't want to travel in anything else after spending a day in the CL600, the ultimate cruiser, whether that's down to the shops or around the continent.
