Introduction

Lovely condition convertible with exceptionally low mileage. It has served me very well and has been to the south of France and through the Alps into Tuscany in the last 2 years and behaved faultlessly throughout.

I bought this car in March 2023 from the person who Imported it from Jersey in April 2021. It had 1 owner in Jersey for first 21 years of its life. I am only selling it because I have recently purchased a Porsche and cannot justify keeping them both. This is my third SL500 which speaks volumes about my opinion of these lovely luxurious cars which are built to the highest of standards by Mercedes.

Exterior

Beautiful paintwork in the very best colour for a 2 seater convertible car. It has responded very well to being garaged all its life and still retains a beautiful lustrous shine.

Wheels and Tyres

The car has Mercedes alloy wheels in unmarked condition, with matching tyres all round and a lightweight spare in the boot underfloor area.

Bodywork

The bodywork is amazing for the age of the car, and indicates a lifetime of careful ownership.

Paint

I cannot find any issues with the paintwork on the car, which I have kept garage stored and well waxed throughout my ownership.

Glass and Trim

No issues with the glass or trim and all light lenses are clear and mist free.

It is also fitted with a glass sunroof with a fitted roller blind.

VIEW ALL

Interior

The interior is in beautiful soft cream leather, which is unmarked - but slightly creased in areas of wear, as will be expected. No tears or signs of wear.

Seats and Carpets

The car has Mercedes branded carpets covering the floor, all in good condition and protecting the flooring very well.

The seats are fantastically comfortable and each have 3 separate settings for automatically adjusting the rake, lumber support, headrest, height, interior and exterior mirrors and steering wheel position - all at the touch of a button for 3 separate drivers.

Dashboard

Cream leather-covered dashboard in excellent condition with no sign of tearing, warping, or sun damage.

The car is also fitted with the Mercedes command control unit giving full radio, CD, TV, telephone, and sat nav access.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel and gearstick are leather covered and slightly worn as a result of use and, I also believe, exposure to sun. This isn't so bad that it detracts much from the overall appearance of the interior.

Mechanics

The smoothest of 8 cylinder, 5000cc engines made by Mercedes - and having covered only 29500 documented miles since new.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine and gearbox have performed faultlessly throughout my ownership and never shown any issues which gave any cause for concern.

Suspension and Brakes

All brakes and suspension performance is as you would expect from a car of this quality. The brakes have powerful assistance and stop the car in a straight line as they should.

The Drive

It is the smoothest car I have ever driven. The weight of the car is sufficient to hold it down on the springs with no undue discomfort even on our poor road surfaces, giving a smooth quiet ride.

Electrics and Other

All electrics work as intended, including the roof which always operates as it was intended to do.

I will be replacing the auxiliary battery with a new battery before sale as the present battery is losing its charge if left unused for too long.

History and Paperwork

Despite the low mileage the car has been serviced 12 times and in addition has also had a recent oil change.

It has been serviced every time by Mercedes specialists or main dealers. The last service was by a main dealer in March 2023 with an oil change in April 2024 - only 1500 miles ago. The computer indicates it is not due another service for over 5000 miles.

I have a large file of invoices from servicing work in Jersey going back to 2005 and the invoice for the service and oil change since the car came into my possession.

The number plate will be removed from the car before sale and will be restored to its previous number LW03 AKX.
