Owned by Stephen for the past three years and dry stored throughout the winter months, the car has clearly benefitted from careful ownership. Exterior

The R230-generation SL remains one of Mercedes-Benz's most elegant modern designs, combining classic roadster proportions with subtle luxury and understated presence.

Wheels and Tyres

The factory alloy wheels are presented in excellent condition, with no significant damage or corrosion noted. They retain a smart finish that complements the car's dark metallic paintwork well.

The Pirelli P-Zero tyres appear to be in good condition, providing plenty of confidence-inspiring grip on the road.

Bodywork

The bodywork is generally in very good order for the car's age and mileage. Panel fit appears consistent throughout, with the doors, bonnet, and boot all operating as intended.

We noted a small dent on the driver's door, along with some minor imperfections to the edge of the same door. There is also a light scratch present on the passenger-side front wing. These are relatively minor cosmetic blemishes and do little to detract from the car's overall presentation.

Additionally, some minor imperfections are visible on the front bumper.

Paint

Finished in a deep metallic blue, the paintwork presents well overall with a good level of gloss and depth across the body. The finish remains highly attractive and suits the SL's elegant styling particularly well.

The SL350 delivers exactly the sort of refined and effortless driving experience Mercedes-Benz intended, combining smooth V6 performance with excellent comfort and long-distance usability.

Engine and Gearbox

Power comes from Mercedes-Benz's naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 engine, which remains one of the highlights of the R230 platform. Stephen reports that the engine performs exactly as it should, with no unwanted noises, smoke, or warning lights noted during his ownership.

The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly through the gears and is complemented by steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, allowing the driver to take a more involved role when desired. Together, the engine and transmission create a relaxed yet responsive driving experience well suited to both touring and everyday use.

Suspension and Brakes

Hi – It had a full fluid changed in June 2024 by AMF Automotive as recommended by MB every 30k miles – a copy of the invoice is in the listing. I have also had the the adaptive feature reset and it runs very smoothly. Steve

It is the original black but everyone says it shines dark blue in the sun. This is typical of this Mercedes colour. It has not been resprayed.

Does the COMAND infotainment/satellite navigation works as intended?

The original Command infotainment system has been removed and replaced with a modern Pioneer DA360 unit. There is a picture in the interiors section. It synchs perfectly every time and has CarPlay and AndroidPlay. It fits seamlessly and does not look like a retro-fit. The original unit was still working and is supplied with the car

I think its better. For GPS you are using real time data from your phone – Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, etc. For music, you can use radio apps such as BBC and your music service Apple Music, Spotify, etc with all the controls enabled on the screen. DAB works. Voice control. Will read WhatsApp messages top you. The older one was just too outdated to use easily but it is still there is you want to reinstall. Hope this helps, Steve

Hi – it was 21 June 24. Had a B service, gearbox oil replacement and AC regas. It is showing as an MOT on the listing for some reason. I use AMF Automotive https://amfmercedes.com/amf-automotive-holding/ in Kent. I have used them for several years. Merc specialist. Very knowledgeable. Look at the Trustpilot reviews.
