When it comes to performance and luxury, the team at AMG always know how to hit the spot.

The E63 AMG saloon was unveiled at the 2009 New York International Auto Show. The performance version of the E-Class is fitted with the same powertrain as the SL63 AMG, including AMG's 6.2L V8 and the Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports automatic transmission which gives four driver-selectable modes including a fully manual mode. The E63 is more extensively modified than previous versions, with a new, wider front axle, heavily revised suspension, and more distinct body panels.

This particular car comes to us with 4 former keepers, it's been in the current ownership for around one year and ten months and has just ~65,800 miles on the clock. It is finished in the classic Mercedes "Iridium Silver" paint with a black leather interior, and importantly is equipped with the optional AMG Performance Pack increases the power output from ~518bhp to ~549bhp, and torque from ~516lb-ft to ~590lb-ft it also includes lightweight, forged 19" AMG light-alloy wheels, stiffer suspension, limited-slip differential, a special three-spoke sport steering wheel, and reprogramming of the electronic speed limiter. The E63 comes with a current MOT valid until 19.03.2025.

Meet the owner

The Mercedes is a real powerhouse capable of incredible performance, whilst looking quite subtle out on the road.

Mick has spent most of his previous motoring life without the thrill of performance cars, he tells us "Before I went to look at the AMG, I was considering a classic car. My previous cars have been relatively normal although, my son was the one who stumbled upon this AMG gem, I went to look at it and fell in love with it".

The Mercedes currently serves as a weekend driver, reserved for escapes out of town. More recently, Mick tells us "I don't really get to use the extra drive and suspension features in the E63, I'm thinking more of classic motoring for my next years of driving". As a result, he is looking to sell the AMG and revisiting his interest in classic cars, returning to a simpler and more timeless driving experience. Exterior

Subtle and sleek AMG styling with modern elegance that came with the W212, all finished in a beautiful coat of Iridium Silver.

Wheels and Tyres

5 spoke forged-alloy AMG 19" lightweight wheels add a sporty touch, and we didn't observe any significant signs of damage, we did notice some small kerb marks on some of the wheels though. The wheels were previously refurbished with a diamond cut finish by the previous owner, some minor marks were beginning to show on the cut areas of the spokes.

The wheels are fitted with Continental Conti Sport Contact tyres, which also appear to be in great condition. The specifications was 255/35, date coded 2021 to the front, and 285/30, dated coded 2020 to the rear tires. For a more detailed view of the E63's exterior and a closer inspection of the wheels and tires, please refer to the photos and videos.

Bodywork

The Mercedes maintains well-aligned panel gaps. All four doors, bonnet and the boot open and close smoothly when we visited the car. During our visit, we didn't come across any significant dents on the car, and the bodywork looked great overall, a well kept example.

Paint

Finished in "Iridium Silver Metallic" the paint showed well across the panels, even in colour and finish. Paint coverage is consistent and presented no major concerns. We noticed some marks across the car and a few very slight scratches, but otherwise the car showed its age very well.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork and paint for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please, take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

All the glass sections on the AMG appeared to be in great condition, including the windscreen, sunroof, side windows, and mirrors. We didn't observe any cracks, chips during our visit. Featured as part of the options from new is a heated windscreen and panoramic sunroof. The chrome around the car looked in great condition, we didn't notice any marks on any of it. The right hand headlight showed with some signs of misting.

Interior

The interior of the E63 AMG is an exciting blend of high-grade materials and functional sportiness.

Seats and Carpets

The seats in the Mercedes are finished in black leather. As part of the AMG pack, the front sports seats are heated and electrically adjustable. The front seat section appeared to be in good condition, with hardly a mark on the passenger seat and only minor wear to the drivers bolster section.

The Mercedes is fitted with AMG velour floor-mats, these are in great condition and underneath these looked great also. We didn't note any signs of excessive wear with both front and rear carpet sections showing very well. Inside the boot is clean and tidy, complete with a tool kit. The spare wheel is present, which appears to be brand new. Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Dashboard

The black dashboard shows in great condition and didn't note any concerning signs of wear. The odometer displayed ~65,329 on the clock at the time of our visit, and has been MOT'd since, at ~65,482 miles. The leather topped dash showed very well. The AMG features black ash wood trim elements through the dash area of the cabin.

The dials, switches, and controls are well maintained; all the surfaces appear clear, with no fogging or scratching. The dash display dials functioned well and everything worked as it should. We did not observe any issues with warning lights when starting the car from cold or during our road assessment.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A clean, black three-spoke AMG steering wheel shows in a great finish in the interior. A nice design touch is the flat bottom, and Alcantara sides. We didn't note any signs of excessive wear or concerns here.

The auto gear selector had no issues that we noted with only minor signs of usage. Minor marks were noted on the gaiter surround.

Mechanics

The 6.2L V8 produces ~549 BHP and a 0-60 MPH time of ~4.5 seconds, this car is a seriously thrilling machine.

Engine and Gearbox

The 6.2L E63 AMG showcases German engineering at its best. It packs a serious punch with a top speed of ~155MPH and has an exhaust note that's like music to car lovers' ears. The car started up without concern and idled smoothly.

The seven-speed Speedshift automatic gearing is in great order with no issues through the gear changes. The transmission is equipped with four drive modes: "C" (Controlled Efficiency), "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport plus) and "M" (Manual), which can be selected using a rotary switch in the AMG Drive unit. The car pulls really well through the range and was smooth out on the road, and this car having the "Performance Pack" has the LSD from factory.

Suspension and Brakes

The E63 features Mercedes AMG 'ride control' suspension with electronically controlled damping. Overall, a more sporty ride than most others which keeps the car firmly on the road. We noted no issues or significant knocks, bangs, or squeaks from the suspension.

The brakes in the AMG felt great, with no noticeable pulling or vibrations during the journey, allowing the car to come to a smooth stop, meeting our expectations. A nice touch were the optional red brake callipers which cost over ~£480 from factory.

The Drive

We took the car on some local roads with the current owner to gain a better understanding of what this vehicle offers. During the drive, we went through the motions, working through the performance of the AMG and receiving an overview from Mick's perspective on the car's performance.

The car brings some serious performance, just as you'd imagine, delivering power smoothly and making all the right noises. With that V8 engine under the hood, it's a sound that puts a grin on your face every mile of the way.

Electrics and Other

The Mercedes is equipped with a reversing camera, panoramic glass sunroof with electric roof blind, dual zone climate control, automatic closing boot and tyre pressure monitoring system. A great feature of the car is the digital DAB/CD radio with Harman Kardon, Logic 7 and 14-speaker surround-sound system.

Mick let us know that he's had no issues with the electrical elements on the car, and that everything should be working correctly to the best of his knowledge.

History and Paperwork

With just over ~3,000 miles being covered over the past ~2 years - the AMG boasts excellent condition and a great spec from factory, well worth a closer look.

We cover off the paperwork in the gallery sections of the Mercedes. The car comes with a current MOT valid until 19.03.2025. The most recent service was on 23.03.2024 by NJB Motor Tech Limited where the oil temperature sensor was changed, a service was carried out in March 2023 by Mercedes-Benz of Worcester covering off oil filter change, new oil and suspension level sensor replacement costing over ~£580.

Please note, the private plates currently on the car will be removed and the original plates will be added back on.
