Introduction
Paul Wright
An extremely desirable British classic, of which it’s thought just ~323 were produced.
A true measure of British post-war success, the MGA was often known as the right car for the right time. With much of the production being exported, particularly to American markets, its agility, performance and perfectly weighted driving manners won it many friends. The MGA was an astonishingly modern piece of design for the era, building its reputation on well-proven mechanical simplicity. Just 6,000 of the 100,000 or so cars built were retained for the UK market, making genuine home market, RHD cars fairly hard to come by.
UK models are difficult to find at all nowadays, and with this being a Twin Cam, numbers are even smaller: ~2,111 were produced in Coupe and Roadster form. Just ~323 were Coupes, making this a very rare car indeed.
The example has been owned and restored by John since 2007. The desirable MGA Twin Cam comes to the market as a reluctant sale: it's unfortunately not getting the use it deserves.
This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting John the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hello, couple of questions if I may. When was the engine rebuilt and we’re the common twin cam problems addressed. Was the compression ratio reduced to 8.5.1 and did you have flexible carb mounts fitted. Secondly when was the car resprayed, what paint was used and was it professionally applied. Just trying to understand the micro blistering to the wings. Thanks and good luck with the sale.
Hello,
Thanks for your interest.
The engine was rebuilt over a couple of years around 5-8 years ago.
The car was restored to its original condition (how it would have left the factory).
The paintwork was carried out professionally. Unfortunately, a cover was placed on the car and this caused the blistering.
The paint work was carried out around 5-8 years ago.
I hope this has answered your questions. Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks
Thanks for your prompt response. It seems the earlier cars had the higher compression ratio and later cars had the compression ratio reduced because of detonation problems. Do you happen to know what compression ratio your car has. Thanks
Hello
Unfortunately John isn’t 100% sure. He thinks it has a lower ratio of 8.3:1
Thanks

Hi James,
We can help arrange a viewing for you, if you could just send an email to [email protected], we need to do some checks first.
Thanks,
Colin.
Do the engine and chassis numbers match? ie are they original? Was this the original colour?
Thanks
I have asked John and he thinks they do match and the original colour was red.
Hi
Could you confirm that the engine was restored from a bare block up.
regards
Yes, John restored the engine from a bare block.
