Introduction
Dom Ginn
Pairing classic British roadster style with the unmistakable rumble of a V8 - timeless looks, effortless torque, and pure MG character.
Bold, rare, and unapologetically nostalgic: the MG RV8 marked a celebrated return of V8 power to the MG badge. Reviving the spirit of the classic MGB, elevated for the 1990s, the RV8 combined traditional British roadster styling with modern engineering and a far more muscular heart.
Beneath its sculpted bonnet sits the legendary Rover 3.9-litre V8, delivering effortless torque and that unmistakable, burbling soundtrack that defines the car’s character.
Hand-finished at the historic Abingdon works, the RV8 featured rich wood veneers, supple leather, and refined detailing that set it apart from its predecessor. Produced in limited numbers and largely exported to Japan, it remains a rare sight on UK roads today.
The MG RV8 isn’t simply a reimagined classic - it’s a confident blend of heritage and performance, offering timeless looks with the power and presence to match. This example takes all that classic heritage and moves it up a gear, with updated Spax shocks, upgraded Compomotive 17" wheels, electronic ignition, enhanced ECU, and electric adjustable power steering, all fitted by a previous owner.
Coming to market after just over two and a half years with our vendor, over ~£5,000 was spent on improving this MG. They're all choice upgrades that make all the difference, offering a more modern style of driving. It comes with a fresh MOT, valid until 20.03.2027.

Mike had decided to reduce the reserve so the highest bidder is more likely to win the RV8 on Thursday night, good luck!
Thanks,

Hi I cannot confirm the mileage at speedometer at change over to Mph
What was the mileage before the speedo was changed, please?
The previous registration for this car is 33MGX which I still hold and willing to sell. However if you type in this reg it will give you previous auction details and anything else you can delve into
i sorry for the late reply. In answer to your questions.
Hi John I won the car and have little knowledge of its past:-
It has been sprayed red with black in the engine bay. The only sign I can see of its original colour is under the carpets in the boot. The car is straight and I can see no repair work undertaken. Again I think the wood was changed at the same time when it was resprayed apparently according to the notes when it was previously auctioned it was part of someones collection I cannot prove that. The windscreen is totally sound and is kept in a garage at the present. The only cover I have is what can be seen in the photos. It does not have air con. I have previous MOT and Invoices of seller to buyer. The only other invoices I have are the monies spent. I think the gaps in the MOT 20/21 were during covid after which the car was sold/transfered. I have no idea when it was sprayed red.or the reasons for the gap 2011/2015.
I hope this answers your questions. I will add I think it has had a lot of monies spent on this car previously particularly with the upgrades to enhance the car.
Regards
Mike
Hi Mike,
Apologies, but a couple more questions! I appreciate that you’ve owned the car less than 3 years, but do you know anything about the gaps in the MOT history of the car? I note the car was not MOT’d for a year between 2021 & 2023 and there’s a big gap from 2011 to 2015. Was the car resprayed in the UK or was it red when imported?
Hi I’ve owned one of these previously so just wanted to ask a few questions if I may. Can you tell me why the colour was changed, was it accident damaged? Do you know if it was a full strip down and repaint, i.e. is everything that was Woodcote now red? Do you know why the wood has been changed from original? Is the windscreen frame structurally sound? Do you have the tonneau cover? Does everything work including the air con? Do you have any documentation from the Japanese ownership, e.g. service history, invoices, importers purchase condition report, or previous speedo? Many thanks John
