An unmolested special 30th Anniversary edition - with just one previous owner and in time warp condition with only ~6,797 miles covered.

In 1989, Mini celebrated its 30th Birthday with the Mini 30 with a limited run of 3,000 cars. To set it apart from the standard Mini, it was adorned with 30th-anniversary badges, half-leather seats unique to the Mini 30, and some extra equipment. Some of these special features included an option of Pearlescent Cherry Red or black paintwork, Mini 30 badges, security-coded Philips radio cassette, servo-assisted front brakes, body-coloured arches, sills, wings, and a boot light and sports style alloy wheels.

This lovely low mileage example has been owned by one previous keeper until around a year ago when it was purchased by our vendor Michael. The car had been in storage for several years and was recommissioned just before he purchased it.

The condition is stunning, having only covered ~6,797 miles, making this a fantastic opportunity to own a rare 30th Anniversary Mini.

Meet the owner

The Mini was an opportunity not to be missed with having such low mileage.

Michael purchased the Mini just over a year ago to add to his collection of classics, however, the car has not had a great deal of use, in fact around ~10 miles have been covered since taking ownership.

Michael is now having a shift around in the collection, so the little Mini is one of the vehicles which is being offered for sale.

Exterior

One of two limited edition colour choices for the Mini 30 were available - this one received the stunning Pearlescent Cherry Red.

Wheels and Tyres

The original sport-style alloy wheels were standard on this model - they are in excellent condition with no noticeable marks or damage.

A new set of Pirelli tyres has been fitted and only covered a few miles.

Bodywork

The condition of the bodywork is superb, there are no dings or dents to point out, and the panel gaps all look factory standard.

Paint

Finished in Pearlescent Cherry Red, the colour is stunning and comes into its own when greeted with sunlight.

The condition is excellent, and it presents exceptionally well - there are no noticeable chips, scratches or blemishes which we could see.

There may have been a small amount of paintwork carried out at some point, but this is difficult to tell, and it could have quite easily come from the factory like that.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

All of the windows appear to be free from any noticeable scratches. The seals are all in good condition with no signs of perishing, and the quarter windows open as they should.

The headlights, like the indicators and rear light lenses, have a bright chip-free finish.

The aluminium grille is in good order with no damaged or bent slats.

Interior

The interior has a few nice 30th anniversary touches - everything is factory standard here.

Seats and Carpets

The seats in the Mini 30 are in excellent condition, finished in half leather with Lightening material unique to the 30, and are finished off with an embroidered tag to commemorate the 30 years. The door cards are also in the Lightening fabric and in excellent condition; the model also comes with door pockets and rear quarter bins, quite a special extra in 1989.

Underfoot sees a Claret Cub pile carpet which is in excellent condition throughout. The boot has the original mat covering the spare alloy wheel. Also present is the original unused jack and wheel brace.

Dashboard

The dashboard in a Mini is pretty simple, as you probably know. It is in excellent condition with no marks or damage. The instruments are working as they should and the odometer shows an ultra-low reading of ~6,797 miles.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A lovely leather-bound steering wheel with the 30-year date in the centre - the condition is excellent and shows no signs of any wear.

The four-speed gear knob is also in good order, with no signs of excessive wear.

Mechanics

A 998cc engine is fitted to the Mini 30 - perfect for economical city driving.

Engine and Gearbox

As you will see in our mechanical review video, the Mini had not been started for over a week and with a touch of choke it fires straight up. The engine has no untoward noises and was free from any oil leaks when we visited the car.

The car runs smoothly and pulls well through the four-speed gearbox, which has a smooth change.

Suspension and Brakes

Looking at the Mini, it sits nice and level. The suspension feels good and tight out on the road, and no knocks or bangs are coming from either corner of the car.

The brakes bring the Mini to a stop in a straight line, with no juddering through the pedal.

The Drive

Who doesn’t love being in one of the most recognisable British cars ever made? Minis turn heads wherever they go, particularly this one being the 30th-anniversary edition finished in luscious Pearlescent Cherry Red.

Electrics and Other

The switchgear in the Mini is in excellent condition and shows no real signs of wear. Everything is working as it should, and no issues are reported.

One of the extras fitted to this model was the Philips radio cassette that features a security code. There are a set of rear speakers fitted as standard to the rear shelf.

History and Paperwork

Original handbook, service book, bill of sale, and the commemorative Corgi limited edition model.

Due to the Mini being in storage for so many years, there isn’t a significant amount of paperwork with the car.

The original owner's manual, service book, and Philips radio instructions are present, alongside a few previous MOT certificates dating back to the early 2000s.

There is also a book on the “Mini 30 years on” and a limited edition Corgi model numbered 3,519 out of 17,500 produced.

Not only a rare, desirable model, but one with just ~6,707 miles from new. The condition is excellent and will be perfect for any Mini enthusiast or collector.

Hi, it mentions that the Mini may have had paint in the past. Where on the car would this be please? Also I’m new to this site, are you able to tell me the reserve price? Many thanks.

Hi, the consigner is probably referring to the fact that, as I found when looking for the car, that Minis of this era can have irregular paint textures from the factory.There are no obvious signs that it has had paint in the past.
The reserve is not disclosed in auction process

Ok thanks. It’s just that I noticed the side stripe on the wings, where the stripe ends has been tapered off rather than running to the head light with a straight 90 degree cut off. This is as they would have been at the factory so thought it had been repainted.

I have seen both tapered and square finish, I really can’t see anything to suggest the wings aren’t in original paint but I will leave you to use your judgement and knowledge or perhaps view the vehicle
