The motoring legend that's been bought forward into the twenty-first century, with a whole host of performance upgrades - there's a lot to like with this Mayfair - an ideal track car or run-around.

Based on the Mini City, the Mayfair was built between 1982 - 1996, fitted with grey velour interior, decals, and a sprightly 998cc that will happily reach 70MPH.

The Mini started the small car revolution in the UK. There's a cheeky quality of these classic Minis that's impossible to replicate. The Mini is a car that was built for the people, a car that is extremely versatile and practical for day-to-day motoring while being able to deliver in racing with its go-cart-like handling. From launch, the Mini was a huge success, 5.4 million Minis were bought over the 41 years of production, and it still remains the best-selling British car of all time.

This example has been gifted some upgrades with a major focus on the performance of the Mayfair with the addition of a supercharger, carburettor, suspension and performance clutch kit. Seth has owned this car for the previous 3 years. The Mini is in the care of his grandfather John, who showed us the car on the day.

Meet the owner

The addition of the Eaton supercharger really has added to the car.

As mentioned, the Mini is currently in John's custodianship and John showed us the car on the day. Seth, John's grandson bought the car in 2019. Seth reports the car has the addition of an Eaton Supercharger and a Weber 40 carburettor fitted by a specialist Mini garage M-Tech in Somerset. Seth mentions, that a lot of work has been carried out over his ownership, including some welding on the sills, full suspension replacement with adjustable hi-lo's, and performance clutch kit - all carried out by M-Tech.

Seth will be sad to see the car go due to lack of use but will be happy to see it being enjoyed by an enthusiast.

Iconic good looks with its small and quirky bodyshell - very similar to its '50s origins.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with small 12" alloys - all the wheels look in great shape, and would just benefit from a deep clean and polish, to really bring them out.

The sporty wheels are wrapped in Nanken rubber, which presents in great condition, dated 2019. Have a look at the photos and videos we've taken to see the wheels and tyres in more detail.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks in overall good usable condition. All the panels appear straight and flush with even panel gaps. When capturing the car we did notice some areas of light corrosion, in the form of bubbling around the bottom edges of the car and around the seams and sills.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in an attractive and modern grey with a black roof colour scheme, the paint appears to be fair condition across each panel - we did notice a few areas which would benefit from a good polish and deep clean.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks in good condition on this example, with no chips or discoloration noticed. The modern style 'halo' headlights and indicators look in good clean and clear condition.

Interior

The car retains its special edition Mayfair velour interior - a very classy cabin.

Seats and Carpets

The original Windsor velour upholstery lines the interior of this Mini Mayfair. The seats, carpets, and door cards appear in great condition throughout.

Dashboard

The grey-styled interior looks great on this example and appears inline with the age and mileage of the car, free from cracks or major wear.

Seth reports all the dials, gauges, and buttons are working as expected.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a classic Mini three-spoke steering wheel, giving the driver easy manoeuvring of this city car.

Both the alloy manual gear stick and steering wheel appear in great condition in line with the rest of the interior.

Mechanics

Extra power coming from an Eaton supercharger combined with the Weber carb - this is an ideal track day pocket rocket.

Engine and Gearbox

Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, and for a closer look underneath.

While the car was being started from cold we noticed a little smoke from a minor oil leak and Seth reports the Weber Carb requires a little more fine-tuning to help the car maintain revs when starting it up.

Seth reports the car has the addition of an Eaton Supercharger and Weber 40 carburettor.

Suspension and Brakes

Seth assures us there are no issues with the brakes or suspension.

One of the most defining aspects of the Mini is its rubber-cone suspension system, which requires very little maintenance.

This example has been given a full suspension replacement with adjustable hi-lo's, and a performance clutch kit, all carried out by M-Tech.

The Drive

Seth loves the perky nature of the Mini and reports an extremely fun drive is offered every time.

He use to love using the car as a run-around on the weekends, although he isn't using it as much as he once did.

Electrics and Other

Seth reports that to his knowledge all of the electrics are functional and operational, in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

Ideal for those looking for a summer pocket rocket with future potential to spec to an even higher level.

Seth has enjoyed ownership of this Mini for the last 3 years - he's covered a little over ~1000 miles over that time and enjoyed it as a usable and practical classic on the weekends. Over his ownership had several performance upgrades including a supercharger and full suspension overhaul.
