This special edition Evolution VI TME is equipped with WRC livery following the successful world record breaking success of the four-times World Rally Champion - Tommi Makinen.

The car was specially designed to resemble Makinen's own Group A Lancer, therefore it's been tuned and set up for an optimum performance on any surface. The car has been set up to reflect the actual rally car driven by Makinen to appeal to the most ardent Evo VI fan.

With a top speed of 150mph and an acceleration of sub-five seconds, you'll attract a lot of attention. The car is powered by a 2.0L 16-valve inter-cooled DOHC turbocharged engine producing 276bhp with full-time 4WD for excellent handling.

This example is 1 of 50 finished in Passion Red for the UK home market, with only 250 (across 5 colours) officially imported to the UK. It's been owned by Dean for the past 12 years, and comes equipped with some very fine Blitz modifications and an impressive amount of provenance.

Meet the owner

12 years of loving ownership, this Evo VI TME has really been given special treatment.

Dean has always dreamed of owning the EVO VI Tommi Makinen Edition, and when the opportunity arose in 2010, he jumped on it. Since then, himself along with the previous owners have really given this limited-run car the care and attention it deserves.

The car has 5 previous owners and ~81,000 miles on the clock, however, it looks like it could have rolled out of the factory last week thanks to the careful ownership it's received to maintain both the cosmetic and mechanical upkeep.

Dean reports a few tasteful modifications have been fitted - mechanically the car has a Blitz performance exhaust, Blitz advanced power air cleaner, Samco Sport coolant and inlet hoses, and an HKS boost gauge neatly fitted to the dashboard. From the factory, the car had many performance parts fitted from its Ralliart division to meet the WRC spec as well asbeing optioned with white 18" Team Dynamic Motor Sports alloys.

Extreme styling topped off with Makinen stripes, it's the car every true Evo enthusiast dreams of owning, or should we say driving.

Wheels and Tyres

On the original bill of sale, larger 18" wheels were selected as a dealer option. You'll find these white team dynamic motorsports 12 spoke alloys fitted here. Each alloy presents in great condition with only the slightest patch of curb rash on the front wheels.

The wheels wear Nankang Ultra Sport HS 2's that are dated 2014, and they appear to have a good amount of tread left.

Bodywork

The shut lines appear factory on this EVO VI Tommi Makinen Edition, just as you would expect from the build quality from this high-quality performance brand. The doors, bonnet, and boot all open and close cleanly and precisely.

Being really picky and while getting very close to the car, we only noticed the very slightest sign of surface corrosion under the rear nearside door.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in lively 'Passion Red' the colour of the car is the one purists jump on, and what is expected of a Tommi Makinen Edition.

Each panel presents a deep lustre along with even coverage and colour throughout.

The images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the TME as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example presents in original condition which looks in line with the mileage, apart from the front windscreen, which did have a small chip on the passenger's side of the glass.

The window seals look good too and are in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

Interior

A 6-point roll cage and special edition T. Makinen Recaro seats are quite the talking point within this very special car.

Seats and Carpets

The special edition Recaro bucket seats finished in soft touch fabric with a red checker pattern appear in excellent condition. They have really stood the test of time and show no major signs of wear.

The car is fitted with a 6-point internal Ralliart roll cage, which is bolted into the floors. You'll also find a fire extinguisher under the passenger's seat in this car.

The Evo mats do show signs of age, however, the carpet underneath is in very good condition. Please take a look at the media pack for a closer tour of this cabin.

Dashboard

You'll find a third-party HKS boost gauge neatly mounted to the top of the dashboard in this example. Ralliart red illuminated dials, along with carbon fiber trim on the central console and around the hand brake, fitted from factory.

The Alpine Stereo is also an original piece. The instruments are working as they should, with the odometer displaying a reading of 81,794 miles on our visit, and no warning lights displayed when the engine is running.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The car is fitted with an original spec MOMO wheel, it presents in great condition and with some slight signs of use in line with the age and mileage of the car.

The original 5-speed black leather gear stick is present and looks in good condition.

Mechanics

The turbocharging system was revised along with ducts in the asymmetrical bumper which helps feed air to the intercooler, oil cooler, intake, and brakes.

Engine and Gearbox

The TME Evo VI comes installed with a 2.0L 16-valve inter-cooled DOHC turbocharged engine, and this example has seen a few tasteful high-performance upgrades in the form of a Blitz NUR spec exhaust, Blitz advance power air cleaner, Samco Sport coolant and inlet hoses, and Ralliart mounts and heat shield.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension in this car is 10mm lower and was tuned specifically for tarmac rally stages, the car is fitted with Brembo brake calipers, along with vented discs for prompt stopping power and looks great through the white Team Dynamic alloys.

The Drive

With the titanium turbocharger, quicker steering, uprated and lowered suspension, a new ECU, beefed-up transfer case internal, a redesigned front bumper, the performance upgrades saw the 0-60mph sprint hit 4.4 seconds topping out at 150mph. Power is rumored to be over 300bhp, rather than the factory 276bhp statement.

Dean loves getting this car out on a warm day - from the moment he puts his foot down, the car never fails to put a massive smile on his face, mentioning it'll shock you how fast this thing is, yet rather confidence-inspiring in the bends.

Electrics and Other

This Evo benefits from aircon and Alpine radio fitted as standard, and Dean confirms all electrics work as they should.

Hi Dean, Have you had to do some rust treatment? some photos show some rust and it is also visible that the sill has been bent presumably when that car has been lifted for service, have you had quotes to repair this?

The car has had all the usual rust issues delt with including both rear legs and both sills
This is a typical rust issue with all
Evo 6
All the work was carried out by Paul Myatt, he is a very well respected restoration specialist
As for the bent sill seems I’m guilty as charged. It was when I was cleaning the wheels

I can confirm this car has had no competition use. She has never been raced or thrashed
