Introduction

Alan Stuart
Professional Consigner

An original example of the high-revving, high tech, Japanese pocket rocket - introducing the Nissan 200SX.

Also referred to as the Silvia, the S15 version added sleek styling to an already highly strung, performance car. The 200SX quickly came highly sought after in the tuning and drifting communities for its tunable four-cylinder engine and ability to go sideways with little effort.

The S15 offers the driver a sleek coupe with responsive handling, a twin air-duct grille and refined power unit giving drivers a taste of its bigger brother, the Skyline Supercar. This is a Spec-S variant, offering the new custodian a 4-speed Automatic transmission - it's code is stamped SR20DE meaning it's the non-turbo variant.

Jack is bringing this lovely low mileage un-modified example to auction, finished in the attractive 'Brilliant Blue' over Jersey interior. His dad imported the car from Hong Kong back in 2002, and has maintained its condition very well over the years.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Jack the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

My dad adored this car, I often caught him admiring it when he parked it up at a local pub or parking lot.

Jack came into ownership of this Nissan 200SX two years ago, inheriting the car when his dad passed. Jack mentions his dad absolutely loved driving the car on weekends across Kent. He was a big fan of Japanese cars and also owned a Mitsubishi Sigma. Back in 2002, he attended a Hong Kong motor auction with some friends and instantly fell in love with this 'Brilliant Blue' example. He purchased the car there and then and very shortly after imported it back to the UK.

Jack will be happy to see another like-minded Nissan enthusiast take over ownership and have as much joy as his father did driving the coupe around.

Jack will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below.

Exterior

Sleek refined sporting looks, the Silvia has aged very well over the years, especially finished in 'Brilliant Blue'.

Wheels and Tyres

This 200SX is fitted with aftermarket 17" 7-spoke 'Arays' alloys, all of which appear in very good condition but have some slight patches of bubbling on the front offside wheel, and around the centre caps.

The wheels are wrapped in Achilles 2233 dated 2019, with the rear offside tyre being a Techking Sportage ET757 dated 2006, all the tyres appear to have a good amount of tread left on with no issues being noted on the recent MOT report.

Bodywork

The 200SX is a very attractive coupe, with its '90s curves. The bodywork of the car appears generally very good, all the panel gaps appear straight and true across the car.

We did notice a slight dent to the rear nearside wing, and also four holes which have been drilled into the rear boot. This would want attention in the future. We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in paint code (TV3), aka "Brilliant Blue" the colour of the car looks great in coupe form. The paint appeared in good condition on our visit, with even coverage and colour across each panel. We think a good mop and polish would bring the shine up a level too.

Again, please take time to review all the images and videos showing the paint from different angles and reflections, to assess the condition for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

All presented in great condition, a really nice example.

The rubber trim all looks good and seems in line with the age and mileage.

Interior

A modern interior for a nineties car with an extremely well laid out cockpit to take advantage of the driver-focused experience.

Seats and Carpets

The sport styled seats keep you firmly in place in this driver-focused sports car. Both seats look in great condition, in line with the rest of the interior, with hardly any signs of wear over the years.

The car is also fitted with carpets throughout, which present in great condition.

Dashboard

A simple and smart dashboard with no signs of any major damage or scuffs. No warning lights were displayed and the odometer was showing a reading of 32,520 miles on our visit. The dash has a quality black plastic finish, which is in excellent condition, including the centre console.

Jack reports the car was professionally converted from kilometres to miles upon importation to the UK in 2002.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The lightning bolt badged steering wheel and automatic gear selector present in great original condition and are consistent with the overall presentation of the cabin.

Mechanics

Powered by the legendary SR20 engine - bullet proof.

Engine and Gearbox

Powered by the reliable and robust (in stock form) 2-litre Nissan block. The car is highly popular among the modified and drift communities for its ease of carrying out modifications and extracting even more power from the engine.

The car starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its smooth four-speed automatic gearbox powering the rear wheels. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, and for a closer look underneath.

Suspension and Brakes

The Spec-S came with 2-piston front brake callipers. Jack reports a very enjoyable, comfortable, yet firm ride in the 200SX S15, with suspension providing support where it should and prompt stopping power from the brakes.

The Drive

Jack mentions that his dad was a leisurely man, but when he did put his foot down once in a while the car flew. He admires the acceleration and ability to cling to corners.

This is a high-performance driver-focused car ready to be enjoyed.

Please take time to watch the On the Road video to see us being taken out for a short drive in the car.

Electrics and Other

All of the standard electrical fittings are said to be fully functional.

Please take a look at the images and videos for a detailed tour of this car's exterior and interior.

History and Paperwork

A lovely low-mileage, original 200SX S15 finished in Brilliant Blue with provenance dating back to its Japanese origins.

The 200SX has been dry stored for the past 18 months, and recently received a fresh MOT. You'll find a great amount of provenance in the form of MOT certificates and receipts for work carried out over the previous years along with the importation documentation in the history media file. The car has no previous UK registered owners, having been in Jack's dad's name for the past 20 years.

Jack will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the car in the comments below.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a HPi check.

Just noticed that the description says about the car being a 2.0 Turbo engine and see that the car chassis plate is stamped SR20DE which is the Non Turbo variant also the paperwork says SR20DE

The Turbo model is a SR20DET code and should have “turbo intercooler” written on top of Cam Cover
So the car you are selling appears to be mis described as a Turbo model and if its 163 bhp its the non Turbo model

Hey James – good spot! We got this one wrong. We had a lot of people say the same thing overnight too via direct messages to us. Thanks for taking the time to correct us. I’ve updated the listing to say non-turbo and removed the 4-pot things too. So hopefully should all be correct now. Thanks again 🙂
